The majority would be pointing our that Deano can't control players slipping on the pitch and giving the ball away.

I'm not saying that is necessarily right either, but i'm just saying.

I've stated before, I've seen some very positive signs in some games, and some very worrying signs in others.

However, I realise that, it's not fair to come to a conclusion based on the circumstances.

The topsy turvy performances have come with many of the same players, alot of the errors have come from the defence.

Alot of the errors and schoolboy stuff were also partially what got Deano sacked.

We achieved " Mid table " with these players, and that's the most we will get from them.

So reality is, for us to get better, and not have performances like that, we need better players.

Many have reached their ceiling.

 

 I agree with you largely. The question is, and genuinely a question, is Gerrard capable of assembling a squad of better players?

These players seem to always perform better with their national teams so it’s clearly a Villa problem and a coaching problem.

Poor today. Arsenal have made much more progress over the last season. They were easy meat for us last.

I have doubts about Gerrard. I struggle with all the hype about him. Great footballer but not proven as a coach.

Watkins worked hard but was poor with his final touch. McGinn has little bursts of activity but needs to shed a few pounds. Coutinho has had a few little cameos but is not a world beater at the moment.

The summer is going to be very important, and we'll need to have a good start next season. If not, the cult of Stevie G will fall apart

He  does struggle with his weight and he looked overweight yesterday. Did't he say that he's lost weight at the beginning of the season?

on all other levels he's a top professional. so I'd hope that he'll be addressing it straight away

Spot on. All this stuff during the week about Gerrard giving the players a good kicking. Its down to him and his coaching team.

Gerrard honeymoon over.

Same old problems. Not decisive enough in attack and we run out of steam and are vulnerable against counter attacks.

McGinn worked hard. Douglas lacks focus, probably distracted by his girl. Ramsey continues to develop and look strong.

Ings is missing too many but his general play was good. 

Substitutions made us worse.

Want to see Bailey run at players.

Need to play the next few games more defence minded and stop the rot or we might be facing a nervy end of season.

Hopefully Gerrard will show what he's made of. Much more down to him than the players. A shame that he singled out Coutinho as having made an effort, when there were others who worked much harder. Worried that we might be becoming a bit like Man U with Ronaldo.

Why does he keep on bringing Chuk on? Apart from a cameo against Norwich has done nothing.
