He's okay. Nothing to rave about.
I agree.

I really want him to go but Purslow loves him too much.
Hopefully our owners will say enough is enough.

Not really. Is viera now a shit manager that should be sacked?
No, of course not. But we're not judging Gerrard on one match.

Such a shit manager to get beaten by Palace. Oh wait, does that mean Pep is shit too? Or is he even worse because their squad cost 100 x more or worst of all, palace aren’t even at full strength v city without Zaha.
Ive missed this thread. What a difference an hour makes

Stating the obvious but how Gerrard handled Mings' demotion plus the feeling that he has clear favourites amongst the players is not going to help morale in the dressing room.
Contrast Gerrard with a Klopp. They are worlds apart.

I have a tear in my eye. VillaTalk. United as one. All it took was Gerrard pissing our best squad in decades up the wall.
Sadly, so many on here said that when he got his own players in, we'd take off. All of his signings have been inconsistent,
-
Absolute rubbish.
Apart from first few games, Gerrard's tenure has been poor.
Can't see what any of his signings have contributed to the team. Want him and Purslow out.

Re forcing the player out. Very interesting that a number of clubs below us are signing centre backs but there appears to be zero interest in Tyrone despite his obvious availability for the right price. You can read into that what you want as well.
Thats quite a definitive statement. I don't think we know if other clubs are interested or not.

Problem being is the reverse in that we have a good squad but Gerrard has no idea what football he wants to play.
Yes, 100%

9 months later and pretty much nothings changed for me. It’s gone as I expected.
Yes, I've felt pretty much the same myself. Last season, so many said our squad was not good enough for the football Gerrard wants to play. Good managers, in all walks of life, get the best out of what's available to them. Scott Parker did that yesterday.

We need more physicality and stature in the team. Playing two centre backs that small against a fired up newly promoted side is crazy.
Coutinho is his favourite despite so many inept performances. Buendia should start. His treatment of Mings is woeful. Gerrard should look him in the eye and apologise to him.

Clearly the notion that this squad is good enough to fight for a top 10 place is nonsense, today's shambles shows that, so it looks like the cheque book needs to come out again, the owners must be very concerned.
Its not the squad, its the manager
-
John McGinn was inept as a captain last season when Mings was dropped. Ive liked him but he's not good enough like the manager who loves him so much.
-
I'm amazed when I look back and realise how many clueless people thought Villa were not getting results because dean Smith's players were not good enough. Gerrard is not good enough.
Good for Newcastle,They've got the right manager who treats his players with respect.
Small minded manager who fills his team with little players of the stature of Christian Purslow

I remember him in his first home game last season. He was poor in that. Needs to work harder pre season
-
Bring him back straight away

Give Gerrard 3 games. He's had it all his own way so far with transfers etc. Great player/ big ego/ unproven manager
-
Does anyone know when we're likely to receive the season tickets in the post? Thanks
-
John McGinn brilliant. Matty Cash not as good as he has been. Fantastic block by Tyrone
-
oh dear. When you're in a hole, keep digging
-
Positives, in first half. Just unlucky and poor finishing.
Wouldn't blame Gerrard for this one, although Conte's sky interview made me think about leadership. He said that he assesses the talent he has and builds a team around it. Gerrard seems to have a system and wants to coerce our players into it whatever their qualities.

A lot of bed wetting happening. A manager needs 3 years IMO. If you're getting rid before, you're pissing every single transfer fee spent under him down the drain, and setting the club back years at a time
Oh yeah, If your name is Stevie G, loved by the most infantile Villa fans, you get that amount of time... I think Eddie Howe has shown that premiership experience, equanimity and dignity counts far more than Stevie G's inconsistency and blaming the players. ... but he's sold his soul to the Saudis. Suspect Stevie's biggest fans haven't noticed that.

Has been my favourite player for most of he last few years. But love Villa more than Gerrard and Mcginn.... Thought he was intelligent, sublime and driven. But realise now he's not good enough. Created more chances for the opposition this season than for us. Overweight and incapable of combining an international career with the rigours of the premier league.

Despite the Telegraph not being my favourite rag, this is an excellent summary of our current predicament under Gerrard.
