apparently the video clip is 4 years old.

He's still the ceo though so you would have thought there were still some opportunities to be had

He is supporting Man City now.

Before June 30th? More than £50m of them?

It's possible, but it's far from guaranteed IMO.

Unless entire football world conspires and literally nobody buys their players before 30th June, they will scrape enough funds. There will always be enough clubs eager for a bargain purchase.

Well yeah, there are. And we know they scraped by PSR, by a] selling two hotels to themselves, a deal which is now being examined, and b] selling Mason Mount in the days before the accounting deadline. They desperately squeaked it, but there's plenty of reason for their fans to be worried they won't be able to keep pulling those moves off.

I would be surprised if they break PSR this season. They have too many assets they can dispose of.

surely there's a massive sponsorship opportunity here?

Tough year? This must be an old video 😊 this is the best year we had in living memory 😂

Joking aside, if only CEOs didn't have to report to directors and shareholders you could be onto something.

We could be weeks away from achieving the goal Nas & Wes set when they bought the club, CL in 5 years.

That would be fantastic turnaround and big milestone for them. Did anyone really believe this is possible when we were on a brink of administration?

my personal opinion, subject to CL qualification, you will see us in the free agent market.......... Hermoso

I think youll see one / maybe 2 decent cost pickups, but not eyewatering - ie: Lo Celso,

And one big hitter ie: Nico Williams, Joao Felix etc.......

ant the usual "out of nowhere" signing that we always make........

I personally think a couple of really good pickups to be had in the championship as well ie: Summerville, Rowe, Ruben Colwill

We won't have enough ffp headroom for all these purchases you listed (unless we sell some of our prized assets that is).

The thing about 'selling hotels to yourself' is it's quite a neat trick but it's hard to replicate. They also squeezed in £55m from selling Mason Mount right before the deadline last season, but that's then just a huge hole in *this year's* accounts that everyone assumed they had already sorted.

This year's hole is estimated to be about £100m. Not sure if they have any other property to sell, or they'll need to rely on player sales.

I guess they could sell the stadium, I know it was outlawed in championship, but I *think* it's still allowed in Premier League.

Cocky? We are demonstrably better than them. As we were last sesson.

    Look at the table.

Bloddy hell a bit of well placed positivity and you get shutdown for being "cocky".

    B*****ks.

They were better than us in all 3 games we played this season  (apart from the period when they went down to 10 men).

I still think we have a good chance at beating them, but it's not gonna be easy "burying" them, that's all I'm saying.

They really don't have a better squad than us.

Watkins is better than anything they have upfront, miles better keeper and backline. Cole Palmer will win their POTY by a complete landslide but he plays in Bailey's position who's not far behind him with his goals and assist record (and he doesn't take penalties for us either).

We won't just finish above Chelsea again as for the second successive season it will probably be a difference of over 15 points. Last season it was 17 points and could be the same this time even if they get up to 55 points.

The FA cup match was a disappointment but ultimately our priorities lie in other competitions this season. Was also a bizarre opening ten minutes where basically we refuse to mark any of their players in the penalty area and they exposed that so would expect much more concentration in the league match.

Have to disagree about overall squad depth and quality. I think if Unai had Chelsea players at his disposal at Villa he could do more with them than with our current squad.

The level of mismanagement at  Chelsea is staggering, but the amount of talent they have is impressive.

No, like we buried them in the last 2 league games we.played them in as opposed to the freak cup game.

Chelsea are miles behind us (again) because we are a much better side.

Chelsea were the better side when we played them away this season, game only changed after the red card for Gusto.

I'm sure Emery and players won't be as cocky as you are and they won't underestimate them.

If we play the team and not the name, we should bury these.

Doing the double on Chelsea and Arsenal plus winning at Spurs and beating Man City, all in one season? Yes please.

Just need to hope we are fit and raring to go when we play them and not missing the cursory midfielder.

Can't believe how quickly we've overtaken them. Back to back finishes above them now. Who saw that coming less than 18 months ago?

Just like we buried them in FA cup?

They still have better squad than ours and it will take some Emery magic to beat them.

They just lack that 20 plus goals a season man. Although Saka hasn't been as good as last season his numbers are still good. 14 goals 8 assists. Martenelli on the other hand has had a poor season and he was brilliant last season.

Shhh...in case Arteta is reading this...there's one arsenal fan that is likely to get 20+ goals this season.

Chelsea passed PSR by selling a hotel owned by Todd Boehly's group for £75,000,000.

Who would by a football hotel for £75,000,000 I hear you ponder.

    Well, I'll tell you.

Chelsea passed PSR by selling a hotel owned by Todd Boehly's group for £75,000,000 to a different group owned by Todd Boehly.

How do I make this Villa related?

What assets can we sell back to NSWE, or a subsidiary of NSWE to join in with the mockery making of PSR? North Stand car park for £74,999,999 perhaps? (We don't want to copy Chelsea too much).

FFP / PSR and absolute farce. Get in the **** bin.

We already sold Villa Park to NSWE and made mockery of PSR, so perhaps is Chelsea that copy us? 😊

You are making it sound like we are a victim here and Chelsea are the bad guys.

Nobody has moral high ground here.

'The horse doesn't know the odds'

Thank you sir, voice of reason.

You only need to look at how these odds change massively after every week to come to the conclusions that we shouldn't pay any attention to them.

Looks like the 777 deal could be circling the drain because they don’t have any money. I can see administration on the cards

777 is very unlikely to happen. Unless they find another buyer, administration might be the only option.

CL or EL makes no difference to spending as it is a one off qualification.

The club can’t go, well we have an extra 50m so let’s buy 120m of players on 4 year deals because the fee is amortised so when you don’t get qualification the year after you are screwed.

The sensible way of looking at it is your top players are less likely to leave and it makes the club more financially healthy.

this of course changes if you qualify for a second or third time in succession as you have banked a bit of the profits.

The reality is we are 15m under the 105 for. 3 year period and we have a bunch of surplus players who will fetch their book value collectively with a few of the doing the heavy lifting which frees up about 25m a year in amortisation plus whatever their wages are.

if we shift them all and the owners are willing to put the cash into the club as they have previously then we can spend the kind of money I was saying on page 53 without breaking PSR or FFP

When you saying we are £15m under, do you include this season in your 3 year calculations, or you mean 3 year balance situation at the end of last season?

If you mean our situation now, I very much doubt it. It would need to take massive reduction in our losses this season to get us to £15m psr surplus. Our loss would need to essentially come down from £120m to £45m for us to end up with £15m psr surplus at the end of this season.

I’m mindful that I don’t want to be appear reactionary after a game. Get on any defender’s back, as I rather like them (particularly Konsa and Torres).

And normally I’m not overly bothered about clean sheets. More than happy to win 4-3 every week.

But blimey, all season I have felt like we would have more clean sheets if Ty was around. Whether we’d have as many points, I’m less sure of. But I really feel like we would have conceded fewer, in spite of how good Torres and Konsa are (it’s not helping when Konsa has to play right back, but even when in the centre, I feel like we’re more porous than we were).

We managed 9 cleans sheets in Unai’s 25 games last season, conceding 26.

We’re on 7 cleans after 32 games this season, conceding 49.

Couldn't agree more. Ty is not only better at defending individually than Torres, but he is also good organiser and leader on the pitch. Very different profile to other defenders we have.
