He is protected like no other previous manager, I mean everyone was saying the team was tired, but didn't really criticise him not using subs. Bring on a couple, even Henderson (how hard it is for me to say), an we win that. Ohh, an keep Kane F***** forward.
It's absolutely a disgrace that it's not commented on in either print or on TV. Agree entirely about Henderson, we could have done with him for the final 30. Not a single criticism of the lack of subs.

Why is it that (nearly) everyone but the media can see that Southgate is not fit for purpose? So much criticism of him and his tactics tonight, where do you start?
I just hope he's gone before some of these very young and talented players get wasted by him.

Got to be the Charlton's, surely? World Cup winners.
Do the Dildo bros count?

Realms of fantasy now as it's getting harder not to qualify, but could you imagine if England failed to qualify for Qatar? I think we'd see the FA go into a frenzy because of all the cash and privilege they'd miss out on.

Anyone played the siege of Paris expansion yet? Read some reviews which haven't been complimentary.

FFP aside, I wonder if they'll do another "Welcome to Manchester" for Ronaldo like they did for Tevez... Wouldn't put it past these classless noses of the north.

Will Hughes to Palace for £6m. Useful squad player, although glad we weren't in for him.

QuoteCrystal Palace are close to completing a deal for Watford midfielder Will Hughes for a fee of around £6m.
The fee could rise to £10m with add-ons and Hughes is expected to have his medical on Friday.
Hughes would become Patrick Vieira's sixth summer signing at Selhurst Park.

It's being reported that he's also broken ministerial code again by using government funds to procure a private jet so he could campaign in Hartlepool. The amount of crap on this guy is ridiculous, how's he still in power?!

They are terrible at the back. Looks like they've given up already.

Too early for arsenal fan TV?

In the locked Lionel Messi thread, I stated I'd donate £10 if he signed for PSG as I thought this would never happen. I was certain it was a power play against La Liga to bend the FFP rules in favour of Barca. I couldn't have been more wrong, so I gladly donated.
This signing still stinks though. Oil clubs, along with Sky, have killed football for any aspirational club.

Southampton fans suggest that the sale of Vestergaard is imminent, and after that they won't need to sell anyone else. Few said that JWP will be there till next season, including a BBC journo...
This is just from reading a forum much like this though, so it's probably just guesswork or BS.

The league needs a salary cap that is enforced.
I'd agree with this if FFP ensured that there'd be a level playing field, but we'd end up like Italy and Germany with the biggest clubs dominant. There's be no Leicester's winning the FA cup or West Ham's pushing for 4th.
My choice would be to let owners spend what they like so long as the debt is not leveraged against the club. The debt should sit with the owners.

The winter window seems to be tougher every year. I think we may still try to bring one or two in before the end of August.
In theory I'd very much like this to be the case, I just worry with a short preseason and shortened season because of the world cup next year, that settled teams who know each other inside out may have an advantage this year especially.

With regards to more incomings, I'm not too sure that there'll be many more. This is nothing to do with how much we have to spend, but more to do with how many players we're going to integrate at once into the first XI.
In my opinion Bailey, Ings, and Buendia will be included in that, along with Sanson once he's fully recovered from his injury. If we had JWP as well there's a chance up to half of our outfield team are going to have no relationships on the field.
Just wonder if we're going to keep our powder dry until the winter transfer window depending on how we're doing.

Considering the CB position, DS obviously has huge faith in Konsa and Ty, and I don't think that Hause is better than Axel. Good loan, just hope we haven't paid a stupidly large fee for it.
If we do make Europe next season I think we'll need somebody better though.

Devil's advocate, is Messi worth those huge wages to Barca though? He generates more interest in a club than any other player in world football.
He's a guarantee of (relative) success too. What odds on Barca being outside the champions League places at the end of the season? They certainly won't make it far in the champions League this season without him.
I'm probably wrong but Barcelona's problem has been paying high wages to very average players, or players not at the level required.

Yeah me to. Chelsea are crazy in letting him go. Mind you they were stupid in selling Lukaku years ago and now spending nearly 100 mil getting him back.
I hope he moves for himself though, he's a good player who'll do well for a manager who believes in him. Think his best form has been under Smith and Lampard. Chelsea will regret selling him if Lukaku's form dips and Tammy is banging them in for someone else
-
With Lukaku coming in, surely this spells the end for Tammy at Chelsea? He's not going to start any of the big games unless Lukaku, Havertz, and Werner are all injured. League cup at best.
Can see him going to Spurs on the cheap if they sell Kane.

I wanted Jack to do well. He didn't. Nothing match to City, but not to Jack. He needs to be much more involved if he wants to be a starter. My gut feeling is that he'll become an impact sub, just like he is for England, because he doesn't influence the game enough for the whole 90 minutes. It will be interesting to follow him still.
Not trying to sound harsh on you in particular, and I'm not happy with Jack's behaviour to get the move, but what did people expect from Jack today?
He's only just joined, and probably not even trained with them properly yet. Once he gels to Pep's system and the other players he's going to be good for them. He's too good not to be be.

Quite a few individual mistakes, but the reffing really has been suspect since Erasmus’ rant. Pretty much every decision went in favour of South Africa today.
In the 2nd half the way their props were binding just wasn't being watched. And yet we kept getting penalised. Also their tacklers or 1st to the ruck kept going prone to either kill our quick ball or slow it to a crawl. He also seemed to give them longer to recycle.

Well, if we'd have made better decisions in the first half the game would have been beyond SA.
Lots of individual mistakes today, but I guess that comes with the pressure of the occasion. Enthralling game of rugby.
Not sure I agreed with some the ref decisions today either.

£10 to Acorns if this summer he signs for anyone but Barcelona. Something like this happens every year. It's how he holds onto and even increases his power there.

It's good that it's mentioned now, I did mean during the game though, the commentators didn't make a negative comment on it. I'd be very happy if more pundits and journalists did the same as the pundits tonight.
