if we got a 40m+ bid for him, i would 100% sell tbh.
We paid £33m for a striker unproven in the premier league. 14 goals (no pens) last season …. I’d want another £30m on top, or they could jog on.

Suarez out of favour at Atleti, if we are getting the band back together, let’s not dick about…..

On the phone to barca while emailing Brighton... Thats just how lange rolls
Us not signing one just means that we can't get the one that we want and we're not going to pay for one that we don't, the media don't know much about us so nothing is leaking or linking, that's not a problem imo
Could just be that the one we want is currently in Cameroon ?

Anyone else get the feeling we’re splashing the cash up front, not convinced it will be as easy to beat NUFC to targets in the summer (if they stay up). Thinking how City did for the Lerner dream of Champs League.

Be tempted to find a new home for Targett and pick up both ??

I’d have Bailey as LB in the current formation and look in the market for a 6 and a CB as a priority.
If you can turn Ashley Young into a LB, why not Bailey?

Trying to work out whether Gary McAllister being Gerrard’s No 2 make a move for Gerrard more or less likely

i'd swap luiz for bissouma any day of the week
Recent outgoings will have created a bit of space in the salary department too. It’s like the perfect deadline day BS. Sounds soooo plausible.

Random Twitter BS says 40m Euro bid from Roma accepted for Douglas Luiz, as we’ve had £45m offer for Bissouma accepted.
BS, but the kind of BS only deadline day delivers.

I'm 37, he is the best player in my time, easily.
I’m going to take 1990, when you were 6, as the start point. Off the top of my head, Paul McGrath, Dwight Yorke, Steve Staunton.
I’ll give you he’s the most exciting to watch, in that period, but in terms of ability in their position and what they delivered for the club, I’d have those 3 above, with others pretty close.
I don’t want to come across as one of those, he was never that good, people, but ever is a long time and we have a pretty spectacular history,

But its not poker is it.
How would feel if a villa manager strolled on the pitch before a home game and told a packed Holte end were trying to sign player x next week ? ??????? - Oh no the whole world knows were after player x - they will put the price up !!!!
Big Ron Atkinson did just that when were trying sign Dean Saunders - The deal went through at much the same price a few days later !
When we sold David Platt - Doug publicly said that all the funds were available to the manager and fans should look forward to exciting players coming to villa park.
If you told a packed Villa Park you were going all out for a player I owned. The price would now be twice what I actually wanted and I’d want it all paid up front. You’ve put yourself under pressure to deliver player X and I can stop that happening if I want to. Give me what I want or you look an idiot in front of your fans.

If ever you decide to play poker, can you let me know please, asking for a friend.

When did he say 'No' to any more transfers?
The only actual quote from Dean in relation to new transfers I can find is

Sorry whose Value halves at the end of the window ?
I though your initial point was that we needed to shift players out - before we could bring new ones in. Personally I don't see us raising much from player sales - or saving much on wages by loaning players out. So I don't see a outbound loan for CH for example holding up an incoming player.
Potential exits…. Nakamba, Guilbert, El Ghazi, Wesley. If we don’t give the impression we are happy with our squad, or we go out and buy replacements, it’s clear they are surplus to requirements and so offers will be low as we’ll want them off the wage bill, in that scenario, as we approach the window shutting and the options to offload them get smaller and smaller, their price falls.

Not saying you're wrong - but why would that be the case ?
Because their value halves as we approach the end of the window and their replacements are already here.

Could it be that we are waiting for players like Wesley, Connor, Fred and a few younger lads to leave or go on loan, before we're able to finalise on further incomings?

Well I'm not trawling through the villa app to link the precise video. But he said something along the lines of "he's not expecting anymore incomings - but expecting a few to go out on loan"
‘We’re quite satisfied where we’re at, at the moment.’ Thereby telling those looking at El Ghazi, Nakamba or Wesley, that they need to pony up if they want them. Equally, we don’t have millions burning holes in our pockets that we are looking to spend ASAP on other players.
I think the line is that we’ll need to replace any departures.

And why would he do that ? Will clubs be lowering there asking prices because DS had said we're done in transfer market

Why would we sell El Ghazi. Just from a numbers perspective that's madness
2 years left on his contract, time to sell or extend on what I would assume would be improved terms. I’d also imagine he’d want some assurances about game time too.
I think it’s fair to assume, given the boards expected trajectory for the club, that a move is more likely than not.

In this scenario you’d unfortunately need Nakamba next to Bissouma, so not for this season
