Anybody tracking Wes Eden’s private plane, into BHX, from Bremen ?

Milot who?
After the time he’s made us wait, I hope he likes warming the bench behind Traore and Trez.
Trez continuing his strong start to the season.

Why are these twitter plebs bouncing about on this Rashica nonsense. It goes from Rashica is holding out for Leipzig to he’s agreed terms with Villa, to Bremen is holding up the negotiations, to Rashica is holding up the negotiations, to it being off, to being back on, now back to Rashica holding out for Leipzig
It’s Rocket science to work this shit out
It is possible he has agreed terms with us, but then waits to see if Leipzig can agree a fee.

I hate to piss on folks' chips but, surely we are not looking to sign Rashica any longer? If we did, where would he play? Grealish, Watkins and Barkley are going to be nailed on starters. The only chance would be wide right and he has Trezeguet and Traore already fighting for that position.
I'd love us to sign him because he looks a real talent but it just seems highly unlikely now.
With Jack able to drop into midfield to cover Ross and SJM, that’s effectively 6 people rotating 5 positions. Doesn’t seem unrealistic to me, given injury, suspensions, loss of form etc.
That’s not to say I think it will happen, but I’d add, him waiting for Leipzig as long as he can, does fit with the waiting until now to pay off Jota.

There is a lot of talk about LB as one of our remaining issues, personally I don't see it being something we address in this window. If we bring in another player they will be a forward/wide forward in my opinion.
In terms of Targett/Taylor and the left back slot it is now probably our weakest area of the side so I do think it will need addressing at some point.
I do wonder though if we will see some improvement in performances from Targett due to the general improvement in the team.
At times last season we relied heavily on him getting forward but you would hope with better players ahead of him we aren't so dependent upon him for this, plus I think Cash on the right will share more of this burden than our RB's last season.
But I also think that having Barkley rather than Hourihane in front of him and potentially Luiz a little deeper will give him so much more protection and stop teams hitting those diagonal balls across the pitch quite so easily.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if Targett has a better season purely as a result of changes around him. We shall see.
Agree, also.....
Let’s assume the target (pardon the pun) for the current squad gets us to 10-12 this year. Why buy a LB now when we’ll have better quality LB’s willing to join, next year, when we’ll be targeting Europe?

I think it's tough bringing in a decent striker or AML of a decent quality now.
I can't see Rashica, Benramha or Eduoard coming to sit on the bench waiting for their chance. Anyone of a high standard will want to be starting in the first 11. We just can't guarantee them that.
Not sure it’s quite that simple, allowing for injuries, suspensions and form and the fact that Jack may need to cover CM, then 4 players for 3 positions really doesn’t mean that much time for anyone to be on them bench’. Also, I’d assume all those you mention would think they’d be ahead of Traore in the pecking order.

I don't think @Okonokos Was arguing, but answering the question that was put to him, and I agree with him.
Also, how anyone can assume we sell a striker and replace him with a central midfielder is quite baffling.
Before Samatta was sold we were looking at needing a ST, AML and talking of trying to also strengthen in central midfield too.
Now Samatta has gone we still need two players for the void of a striker and also an attacking midfielder - We're looking at someone who can play both those positions!
I read it the same as @Okonokos
Samatta left only once we’d signed Traore, I think he’s covering Samatta’s ST place in the squad ??

Makes no sense. Front 6 set Luiz McGinn Barkley Grealish Watkins Traore plus backup. Not signing Sarr for the previous 6 to be on bench
Telling that Samatta was allowed to leave on loan just 6 days after Traore signed. For me, if Sarr arrives, form and injuries notwithstanding, Traore sits on the bench to cover all across the front 3
In reality, suspensions, injuries and resting means the likelihood of all 7 players being available for selection at the same time, is fairly unlikely.

Might be in the minority here but the more I think about it the more I don't quite fancy a new LW. I just think moving Grealish away from his current role would be really stupid. He's just had his most productive season ever and hasn't looked like he's going to slow down this season, for me moving Jack to the #8 position would be the completely wrong move.
Go after a good CM and keep Jack right where he is imo.
*If the Rashica thing happens fair enough move Jack then but I really don't think it will now and I'd rather not go after a Sarr or something when Jack will be much better staying put.
I agree, without quality in front of him, we get more from Jack where he is on the left wing. That is the story of last season, as he dragged us over the line. We then need to upgrade in midfield.
The hope was / is, this season, with improvements to the front 3, Jack can be used to unlock the door for them and with the greater space therefore afforded him, he’d chip in with a few goals of his own.
All depends how good a LW we can attract / afford.
My guess is that Rashica thinks he’s in with a chance of getting a call from a CL club, and doesn’t want to commit to a secondary option.

Thoughts on RB..... At first view you may assume Elmo would be the one to make way for Cash coming in. Think this is a long term decision... Get money for Guilbert, let Elmo run down his contract this year, next year Kaine Kesler is back up to Cash.
-
Thanks.....
Agree about Rashica, I’d be happy to be buying all our players where we are the players 3rd choice, it means we are stretching ourselves in terms of the quality of who we buy. If we were the first choice of all our recruits, you’d question how much we’ve improved the squad.
Regarding Samatta, if he is in Turkey, you’d have to assume his replacement is close too. With Liverpool having just signed Jota, the timing certainly matches to allow Brewster to move to us.I know it’s not popular to say this, but if we are looking to a minimum of mid-table this year, I’d prefer Brewster and Tarkowski, than Edouard and a £20m CB.
-
Thanks.... Agree Konsa has been impressive, but going off the stated aims of the owners, presumably you’d be happy if we got Tarkowski for 40m ?

First post so forgive if overly long...
There’s no way we are done trying to get people in. We may be done bringing people in, without creating room for them in the squad. Our entire buying policy was built on not losing a fortune when we needed to upgrade players, so that’s what we need to do, sell players, without taking a bath on their resale value.
That being said, given the desired aims of the owners and the fact we have the opportunity to go shopping in a suppressed market. Here’s my priority list for this summer:
1) Jack new contract
2) 2 New Strikers to replace Samatta and Davis (loan out Davis once signed new contract)
3) 2 x Creativity and pace out wide
4) New Right back, ship out Guilbert
5) New CB, preferably starter, but could be cover - Engles out
6) New CM to challenge McGinn but also cover for Jack.
Was more than happy for Steer to cover until Heaton returns, but when you have cash and an opportunity to upgrade comes along, you take it. Also, we aren’t keeping Jack at the club without offering him the chance to play in centre mid, so wide players need to be starters. Now, on the big assumption that Dean had a similar list, it’s telling that we spent a lot on Matty Cash, for a position so far down the priority list. You’d assume therefore we are looking to fill those greater priorities too.
So that’s a striker, a left forward / winger, new CB and new CM still to come, once we create space in the squad.
No clue who, that depends how much the owners are willing to spend, feels like they are prepared to spend more than they budgeted, to take advantage of our Covid inflated place in the market (willing to overspend to secure targets).
Can’t see us doing anything at left back, we aren’t going to demote a left back we just spent 17m on and Taylor isn’t going anywhere, I think he has 1 year left on a tasty contract, he’ll go on a free next year.

Long time lurker, finally signed up.
Whilst only occasionally attending games, I’ve been a fan for c. 38 years. That’s not to say I’m a glory hunter (would not have stayed if I was), but it can only help decide who you support when your local team wins the European Cup when you are 6.
If anyone other than a moderator has read through all of this message, then a special hi to you.
Cheers, Phil.
