Or we were fairly certain he was going NUFC anyway but wanted to squeeze Brentford over the price for Watkins, either way it’s at best a lucky escape by not overspending on Wilson but it doesn’t paint the picture of a club in any sort of control for sure..

I will wait further down the window before I start losing patience but it would give a lot more reassurance to us fans if we could see a clear strategy going on, at present we mainly have dubious journalist guesses or so called ITK to go on..

All of these optimistic and structured discussions are killing me, we all know how much it means to bring through an academy player, and this lad (along with several others), does seem to have the potential so personally should be given the opportunity to sit on the bench with the aim of giving some first team game time when possible.

As ramshackler says this is a great time while there is no crowd pressure to get some game time in PL stadiums against PL teams..

And ohhh yer ......

They are killing me cus until we kick a ball I have blind optimism that this could be our year to actually get a real foothold back in the Prem ....

A nice little bit of something something to keep us all going till the next signing which we can all argue over .....

£8mill is not a snip or even a good price for a 33 year old back up GK with 9 months left on his contract, we are overpaying. You'll probably struggle (I may be wrong) to find a team that's spent more than that on a Backup GK in the prem in the last few years. 

£8mill on a backup GK is not a sign we are focused on other areas at all. Comparatively it's a lot of money for a back up GK, if we were focused on other areas, we'd get a loan or let Steer start the season. In simple terms, Watkins + Romero = Edouard for example (it's obviously not that simple but you get my point).

And it's not like complaining we're spending £10mill on a very good player who plays Jack's position, it's like complaining we're spending £80mill on a very good player who plays Jack's position, except we can't just move the other player to another position, so one has to go on the bench. 

It's all relative to a degree though isn’t it.. We could always wait 9 months until he is on a free but if Heaton does not come back quickly or perform well straight away then we may be a championship team by then. 
 

From what I saw of him he is a solid keeper that appears to be available at a good price, we definitely need someone like him so why not him, the length left on his contract probably does mirror the reason he is only being touted at £8m...
