He has kpi’s with the owner’s. He’s going to bring in people he knows can deliver in those kpi’s not wait 1-2-3 years of current employees who may or may not have the experience to deliver those outcomes.

Well if he’s fired staff just to bring in his own mates he’ll hopefully learn a hard lesson and deserves everything he gets.

I guess the question when your managing at that level do you keep the people who cannot deliver on the kpi’s or do you bring in people who can?

The question is did they have KPI's? As a CEO your role is strategic not operational so should he be getting involve in day to day running.

A lot of assumptions are being made on alleged accusations from an anonymous person.

There’s two sides to this story and I find it amazing that if the allegations were true and the damage it would make to the Villa brand that the owners would have not already stepped in.

We’re being asked to believe that the owners have made there first poor decision in recruitment,  did no due diligence with a man with a well credentialed reputation and CV, weighted against an anonymous persons allegations  and which the local media haven’t picked any of it up?

This is a professional sport organisation being dragged into the 21st century not the local council job where you can skate by for 40 years.

Organisations have to evolve unfortunately some people can’t evolve with the organisation and would rather throw stones than accept their own limitations.

I'm sure the owners were fully aware of the type of person they were employing and did there due diligence but just maybe his style of management is not what works at a PL football club? Like everyone else on this forum I have no idea how true any of this is. Any new CEO/president worth his salt in this day and age that walks into a job will bring in an external company to do a review of the current org structure, policies etc. based on various frameworks out there. What worries me is the bit about awarding contracts to mates/previous associates etc. if the club does not have a robust procurement process in place it's very concerning and just leads to back handers and corruption and I don't want that at my football club.

Personally I think we need a new RB/CB and I’d go for Geertruida (1st) or Simakan (2nd).

Then we need a CM, DM cover, LM/LW and possibly a striker.

Veerman for the CM as he’s class and wouldn’t be too expensive from PSV. I’d like Bakayoko form PsV also but we’re stacked with lefties wide right.

DM I would have liked Vermeeren but that ship has sailed. Perhaps a punt on a youngster like Seiwald or similar. K Thuram would be nice but he might be a bit pricey. I’ve always liked Caqueret at Lyon.

For LM I’d love us to break the bank and go for someone like Simons or Wirtz or similar. We need someone on the left that can do what Bailey’s done on the right for us.

If we were going down the LW/IF route then Felix or F Torres would be decent shouts.

Striker I haven’t got a clue. Liked the look of Openda before he went to Leipzig. Boniface would be good but not sure he’d fit as he plays more from the left. Perhaps a wildcard youngster like Kilicsoy or Konate perhaps.

Would anyone take Lukaku on a short term deal?

These player wish lists are hilarious at times.

In his defence he is our 4th choice centre back playing next to our 5th choice

He is poor but he is playing because of circumstances

Exactly this he’s not our first choice CB.

We'd never have signed him if Buendia have stayed fit. Ramsry also been injured frequently.

He was a player Monchi knew from Roma and last minute so we have had 12 months to scout someone more long term. Interested who we come up with.

Completely agree, if Emi B hadn't got injured I doubt Zaniola would be here.

Just having a play around with what we "could" do in the summer.

I am assuming we might sell one of our key assets for big money as per reports, i have chosen Luiz as an indicator, but tbh it could as easily be another key player, its just for illustration.

Selling, releasing or loaning out the list of players in the right would free up 825k ish per week, or roughly 43m per year, plus any transfer fees, allowing us to invest in 4 players (CB/RB/CM/Striker), at least?

With the saved salaries p/w, and some good transfer income, we could probably go really big on a couple of signings, as well as get a couple of younger, development type players, going to be an interesting summer i reckon.

    Just thinking out loud ofc.

note: some players arent in exact positions, but you get the point im sure.

edit: add Donk to the sell side, so 90k p/w, taking weekly salary savings to 915k, and yearly salary savings to 47.5m........(thats nuts tbh)

He's late 20s and he's done absolutely nothing of note in his career except warm benches and get relegated.

He's played next to no football.

I'm sorry, I've been nice, he seems a good guy, but he's an absolute mug. Should go to the Championship and play 50 to 100 games in the next two years because the PL isn't it.

Maybe once it was, but he's a billion miles off it now with the lack of games from 21.

He was outstanding at Fulham the year they were relegated he was by far there best player.

Everyone needs squad players, if he was that bad he wouldn't make our bench. Don't blame the player we as a club recruited him take your vengeance out the club.

Surely add-on suits them better as it means less fee to Man City?

I daresay Man city get a share of everything so it really doesn't matter.

    15m feels steep.

I hope there is no sell on clause in the deal.

I doubt any highly rated younger players are sold without some form of sell on clause these days.

We desperately need a signing. This thread has taken a very unusual turn. It’s all gone a bit Judith Chalmers (one for the kids). For what it’s worth I absolutely love London and Dublin. Both absolutely fantastic cities. I’d give Glasgow a 7/10 too. None too shabby at all………Having said that, I live in Leicester which sets a very low bar!

Don’t beat yourself up to much I used to live in Redditch!

Spurs are so **** lucky. Any other club loses their superstar, regardless of how much they get for him, they have a dud season of rebuilding etc. Like we had with Jack leaving

Spurs sell Kane and somehow get better, and now get to reinvest all that money on the future. It's one rule for words removed and another for the rest of us.

Lucky? They have played European football 8 out of the last 10 seasons including a CL final. They have an amazing ground one of the best in the PL. We lost our so called superstar and got better beyond expectations bar having an absolute idiot in charge for a short period of time!

I'm sorry, but I would hazard a guess that in a head to head league between La Liga - Bundesliga - Serie A, La Liga comes out worst.

Other than top 3 clubs the standards are dreadful. Just look at Barca this year. In England they would be in a relegation battle this year.

All three leagues are like the Scottish PL and La Liga is the best out of an awful bunch! What are you sorry about?

Yeah but nearly every top player in the world originally comes from a league that is not the Premier League

True but most try to get there, Messi is probably the most gifted player to kick a ball ever but..................

Well the point I highlighted was the “hopefully someone has seen potential here” part. You’re right in that more youth products don’t pan out. That’s part of the risk but the whole point of the scouting team is to find someone they think has potential. So it would be weird if they scouted this guy and said we should sign him without believing he had potential.

I also don’t think we should put too much emphasis on the league he came from. If he’s good enough, the talent will come through. Not everyone needs to be Phil Foden.

The whole point of my post was not everyone is a Phil Foden but you chose to jump on it, interesting!
