Question to Villa fans
Would you rather get to play in the Champions League and not win it or win the Europa League Trophy?CL every time.
I rather them bigger teams to play and finances, over an “easier” trophy.

Someone who works for me is a Spurs fan and this is very close to his opinion.
It's not that he doesn't want the CL. But they've had the novelty of being in it, and they're so desperate for a trophy they're looking at teams like West Ham last season and us this season and thinking it's better to be in a competition they can win rather than one they'll more than likely go out of early-ish
He certainly doesn't chare the desire to get into the competition like we do.
Hopefully the team feels the same!
Oddly my best friends is a spuds fan and he shares this exact opinion. He just doesn’t want them in a competition they’re not likely to win. “It would be embarrassing”
Spurs fans are completely broken by their “big club” status and not winning anything

Not bothered by the Bayern links.
He’s done wonders here and it’s understandable that the press are going to link him to all the big jobs available.
however, he’s a project manager and he’s just about finished year one (a full season) here, things are going better than expectations and I’m sure he wants to see this project through to a conclusion

here’s the original video. Indeed from yesterday.

This whole "has to be unique" and "looks too much like" argument is so overblown.
Do we really think someone is going to accidentally start following the wrong team because they've got the badges confused.
There are 1,000 indicators of which team is which and the badge is a small part of that.
It just needs to be nice looking that the majority of fans are on board with which we currently have.
No matter what you do there will always be dissenters.
It could happen, it could mean a small kids skips over Villa on fifa (what ever it’s called now) because the badge doesn’t stand out.
or a sponsor skip over us as a Chelsea wanna be.I’d say the current round badge is that kind of “generic” that it could be over looked
the new one is just the Lerner badge again but somehow with more problems
A unique badge is totally doable and can totally look the part for the majority of fans.
even if it’s just a floating rampant lion with no shield, star, date or motto… at least it’s not like any other rampant lion “football” badge
Yes, there will be decanters, of course there will, particularly on a forum where everything needs a comment.

Well clearly he must have shown something before, hence why we signed him.
I’d love to know what that something was… what ever it was, it was overlooked by so many

So just to sum up this thread, for any who don't want to go back and read it all.
Lerner badge: shit.
Purslow badge: shit.
Heck badge: shit.
Lerner badge: has issues
Purslow badge: un unique and boring
Heck badge: Lerner badge with more issues
That’s my take

Direction aside,
what’s everyone’s favourite rampant lion we ever used?
also what is everyone’s least favourite?
Just the lions please, not the entire badge

So making it look like Middlesbrough and Scotland and dozens of others is OK then?
Not like them either.
not like any other club.
Got to look like an Aston Villa badge.
Distinct, unique, fundamentally us

Well open your eyes then.
Thats an issue with monochrome badges.
I actually had a double take when I saw a Middlesbrough player being interviewed with a monochrome badge an I wondered for a split second who this Villa player was and why his training kit was a funny colour.
Then it’s needs changing. Trying to be a “global brand” that’s competing with Chelsea seems pathetic if our badge looks like theirs.
Yeah you and many others like the round one, but if it looks like the Chelsea badge, then theirs issues that need correcting

Digne, Olsen, Lenglet, Hause, Chambers, Donk, Zaniolo, Sanson, Coutinho.
maybe Cash.
I’d be amazed if we get any sale, from the players we own in that list

Who the **** are all these people you've found confusing it with Chelsea? I've not seen anyone saying that
Feel like you've just found some people willing to bait you on the subject taking the piss.
I find it confusing with the Chelsea badge, more so when it’s in monochrome.
Watching the highlights against Lillie I had to take a double take on Emi’s shirt.

At the time, I would have agreed with these. Rogers was good, yet he wasn’t particularly remarkable at Boro. Having a good stint, but not a “wow this kid is a must for a premier league team” stint.
Someone at Villa saw something the rest of the world didn’t. This someone sold it enough to convince Villa to pursue this kid for weeks. We were convinced we needed him. And now, of course we were right, he’s been wonderful.
Now I’d love to know, what the scouts/monchi/Emery saw in this kid to be that convinced we needed him. Particularly when the rest of the world missed it. Even us “footballing geniuses” wasn’t entirely sure why we were perusing him.
just brilliant work from the scouting and the training.

I understand Forest’s frustrations, yet that twitter statement is a complete embarrassment.
Luton must be howling at it

Wasn’t the deal to sign him all but done last year ? We didn’t go elsewhere for a striker, it’s not that ridiculous to suggest that is because we were prepared to wait 12 months ??
I’m not sure how true that claim is. But still the idea of us signing him just reeks as fan service click bait

I really don’t get Matty cash as a player.
defensively he’s too stand offish, shit at tacking and doesn’t intercept much.
Offensively he does take any on, never beats his man, his crossing is poor
he sort of works in the grand balance, but as an individual I rarely see what he offers

From “okish” championship player, to guiding his new team to a potential champions league spot.
What a glow up
