I seem to remember Dougie’s work permit took an age to come through last summer. I guess this is the same issue, probably made worse by covid and brexit clogging up the system further. Hopefully some good news next week.

Wasn’t a work permit that fully held up Doug, he needed a new passport too

My guess is that we needed (or felt we needed) Watkins more than we do a player like Rashica. It was clear our strikers on current form were not up to the task of starting this season. The wingers arguable weren't either, but Trez ended the season ok and playing him and Grealish in our first game wouldnt be the end of the world. Playing those two with Samatta or Davis up front and you can kiss goodbye to any points until we got Watkins in.

With watkins we held out as long as possible before acquiesing to Brentford's demands. With Rashica we have more leeway so our less movable. Presumably, once deadline day looms we'll be more willing to flex, as would WB if noone else has come in in the interim.

Still expect this to happen assuming the ITK Rigo was info was accurate.

to use a glib SSN term "who blinks first"

This had been going on way, way longer than Watkins.

that's not really the answer to my question...

The Watkins deal took ages, so has this, maybe longer.

But, we got Watkins, so what what was the delay there?

Could be the same delay. I believe it is

Page count still going backwards even after last night's surgery?

The way this is going he could well sign before page 300!  Fingers and toes crossed.   I'm starting to get uneasy about this now.  I don't understand what would take so long.

What took Watkins deal so long?

Yup seen all that, read the sound bites but I still ain’t convinced there is any legs in this...

Honestly not looked to piss on anyone’s chips but our business has followed a certain path yet this is completely differently so if somethings looks like it ain’t happening then usually that’s your outcome.. This being football can mean less predictability and I genuinely hope this does happen even if it’s on deadline day but right now it just don’t feel right for one reason or another..

this where we all are on this, even the doubters, the fish punners, the boob loves and the page count moaners.  It’s clear Rashica is leaving Bremen this window, the question is where? That little bit of hope ain’t going until Milot leaves or the Window slams shut.

Could be ironic that you chose mr fake news himself

Yet the WB’s director of sport has been quoted to say they are in discussions with Aston Villa

Does their window slam shut at the same time as ours does?  They will surely want to be getting three and fourpence in themselves which will take time.  I'm sure it's dragged on long enough for them as well.

But the fact remains: A Transfer for Milot Rashica is anything but off the table - and Aston Villa is also still in the race. Baumann confirms this. “There are several interested parties and Aston Villa is one of them.”

  10. I think he’s done at the club, even as a back up.
    I don’t know why.

i believe he’s in the same boat as Taylor, Jota Lansbury and AEG, as good as they try and play, they’re not at the level required for Villa’s ambitions

shame, because they all have something, just not premier league something

Not the thread I know, but Everton will be knocking on the Champions League door this season. They have bought well recently and especially this window, suddenly everything has clicked. They easily dispatched Tottenham. They have bags of cash too.

Straight forward route to the QF with a lot of the other big boys drawing each other.

We should go all out knowing this.

I’d say this is our best chance to getting European football from this season

I am as excited as anyone about Rocket Man, but I fear we are setting ourselves up for dissapointment here.

As with any signing from a foreign league, he will need time to adapt to his new teammates and the intensity of the PL. The pressure from us will not help. Let's not make the step up more difficult than it already is.

Good job he can speak English. The language barrier is always the hardest step in settling in
