Southgate will now be “thinking” that in the last 16 game there is a good chance that we could face France, Germany or Portugal. He won’t consider for a moment how we could play to hurt those teams. Instead he’ll be quacking in his boots and working on a plan to defend, defend, defend. So that midfield three that @CarryOnVilla mentioned above could well be what he goes with, to prepare for next week.
Depressing isn’t it?
I’m so glad I’m not English

I'd say we've done enough on here now for it to make its way on to social media. It would literally be the stone cold nuts of an appointment for the whole World to laugh their knackers off at.

Mason Mount is out isolating
nice to make room for Garth’s dream central 3 of Phillips, rice and Henderson

Is there an actual way to get the Tony Adam’s link for the Spurs job in to the rumour mill?
The crying from the spurs fans would be pure gold

The whole Arsenal thing is becoming annoying now, reminds me of the way Wolves fans suddenly started gloating and acting like they'd overtaken us in size just because they'd finished above us for a few seasons in a row.
We haven't even finished above Arsenal, we haven't even finished in the top half of the premier league in over ten years, whereas Arsenal haven't finished outside the top eight since 1994/95 season, the last time we won a trophy was the 1995/96 season, since then Arsenal have won the premier league three times and the FA Cup eight times.
People probably should pick their fights more carefully, as they'll probably finish above us once again next season, and all this goading of their fans will look pretty silly, or at least wait until we've actually achieved something.

Wonder how much the newly tabled bid is for ESR - That’ll indicate how serious we truly are. If we’ve gone back with a bid £30 mill then that will obviously be rejected - think he will cost thick end of £40 million which I’ll be ok with as he is a top prospect and would make to football world take notice.

Has any player played as well for Southgate’s England as they do for their club?
I genuinely can’t think of one player who is as good or better than their club form whilst in a England shirt

Yet again Ty had a great game... however I have a hunch it's never going to be good enough for "England fans" the media and punditry. oh and Southgate

England's go-to man in their crisis of creativity. Didn't quite live up to the clamour, but did plenty of good work after his introduction and will surely start on Tuesday against Croatia.
Croatia?
did sky employ southgate’s brother to write this article?

England are the most lacklustre team to watch. Southgate’s safety first philosophy is great for tough teams… but against teams like Scotland it was so obvious what England was going to do. Scotland set up well and had an answer for everything England had to offer. They even had an answer for jack, double teamed him out of the game. Yet England didn’t adjust for that and exploite the areas the extra defensive player should of been.
England signed posted every move they made and posed nothing challenging for Scotland to deal with.
bravo to Scotland. Had all the best chances and should of won the game.
ps. can we go get Gilmore please. he’s the DM Villa need
