Any manager that thinks Drinkwater is the answer doesn't know what the question was....He was just as stupid with his selection of Wesley. In the Premiership you simply can't carry poor players. He just doesn't seem to understand that poor selection has consequences.

Oh boohoo. If we win against Southampton you'll all be signing a different tune.
It's not like that old chap. Supporters are buy and large realistic with their teams aspirations but if they see players like Drinkwater and Wesley ( when fit) being selected they wonder if the manager is 'the full ticket'. Don't you? Or do you think Mr Smith has a 'master plan' that he is about to unleash?

There was variety today, AEG was excellent outlet down the right today in the first half which lead to an assist and many corners. It wasn't Grealish giving him the passes either, Luiz more often.
Just can't get over him not shooting for that second chance he had. I feared at the time that would be a crucial miss and so it provided. 2-0 against this Spurs team would've been a pretty secure buffer I reckon.
Erm, they scored 3 goals mate, sorry couldn't resist it, trying to cheer myself up

Genuinely donât understand people calling for the managers head. Â Then again, our fan base is pretty pathetic at times.Â
ÂWhat were people expecting this season?!
Personally I was not expecting a manager to continue playing players like Wesley and Drinkwater when it has been obvious that they are useless, or am I missing something? Perhaps you are suggesting that team selection is someone else's responsibility?

Deserved a point. Not surprised by the usual overreactions though. That wasnât a performance from a team that is nailed on for relegation like so many claim.
Love your optimism Robbie. Are you saying ' too good to go down'. I don't know if you noticed but our goalkeeper was voted MOM again.....

This guy actually looks decent. All we need to do now is give him the ball in good 'areas ' and I am sure he will not let us down. Top man.

Yes with Wesley sidelined we had lost the 'tag' of having the 'worst player in the Premiership ' in our team......step forward Danny Drinkwater....

I think there was plenty to like about today against quality opposition, but we defend like it's a meaningless dead rubber and not a key game in a relegation battle. That will catch up with us if we don't sort it out.Â
It has 'caught up with us' and no, the manager and coaches have not sorted it out.

So he's doing what he's paid for then?!?!
I think you will find that most teams have competent individuals in front of the goalkeeper who attempt prevent the ball entering our net. We don't appear to have these individuals which account for our goalkeeper being voted MOM so many times.....

We had 18 so your point is??
I think it is fair to say that more often than not our goalkeeper is voted 'man of the match', I think that says it all really....

Said in the match thread a couple of times I think when we have possession his movement to make himself available for a pass is really good, maybe the best in our midfield so I think I can see what Smith sees in him, we don't panic and launch it long as much when Drinkwater puts himself in space and shows for a 5 yard pass
That said everything else he does, on the ball, off the ball when the opponent has it, general fitness, is absolute dog shitÂ
He was exhausted after 20 minutes. ......I am fitter at 68 years old......And quicker......

Loss is nothing to do with Smith, Engels had a mare after two of our players went for the same header . Devastating lossÂ
Stop making excuses for Smith, he carries the can for this debacle. We were awful except for Grealish and Reina. Playing Drinkwater just shows Smith does not know what is required in the Premiership.

We were battered by a bang average team. Deserved nothing. If Drinkwater plays again Smith deserves the sack.

Can't blame Drinkwater for bring an embarrassing waste of space, blame the manager for playing him.

Yes was absolutely useless wasn't he. Who on earth thought he was quality?

I know it....I used to work at the Bulls Head, Hall Green, doing my licensee training.
P.S. Going off piste a bit here but....
He may have been a year younger than me at the time so maybe only 16 but looked 10 years older due to his muscular build. Scouts were there every week but he only wanted to play for Villa. Note to others who rate Wesley....when the ball was played up to him he would have two defenders marking ( kicking him) and he would never lose the ball no matter what the pressure or how it was played to him. No pace at all but enormous strength and a great touch and attacked the ball in the air aggressively .
Didn't cost Villa 22 million either.......
Sorry if I have gone off subject for a trip down memory lane....

Was that for Moor Green?.....fine Player keith, another one cut short by injury, hope Keinan doesn't go the same way.
Hall Green Social, I think we were both 17 years old at the time. He was ALOT better than me, but I think it helped that he was 6foot 2 inches and about 14 and a half stone even then. I was under 6 feet and 11 and a half stone. This was during the days when the Centre Half would kick the living daylights out of you given half a chance. For some reason they usually kicked me rather than him.

In that case, theyâre probably on to something then  hopefully they pay a ridiculous amount of money for him and Smith can rebuild the side completelyÂ
'A ridiculous amount of money' you mentioned would be 22 million for a player who does know his left foot from his right. Jack on the other hand is a genius who is keeping a whole team afloat ( even one that had a certain centre forward as a 'passenger)'. I would expect 80million for Grealish ( possibly more ) and less than 5 million when we ' jettison ' our passenger, ( can't imagine United involved in this transfer ).

I think it highlights how bad the rest of our side  and as a result Grealishâs ability has been exaggerated. One player doesnât make a team and it shouldnât be that way, itâs a team game. I think Grealish has become vastly overrated by fans of all clubs and media alike
Apparently Manchester United do not agree with your appraisal.......

What has he done to be labelled by some as the best player ever to play for the club? Itâs hyperbole to the max and an insult to past greats in my opinionÂ
Who are the other great players you have seen who has attempted by his own skills and sweat to single handedly keep the club afloat?

Absolutely spot on. This really is something that is taught at junior football level. Seeing this at professional level us truly shocking.
