What I don't understand is how, if the system at Brentford was down to their massive over achieving, and nothing to do with him, how come he's turned us from drawn 3 lost 3 won 1 before he came to lost 2 and won 4 since (whilst at the same time playing much better teams than during our poor run)
AND Brentford with their amazing system have plunged down the table with lost 5 won 1 since he's gone.?
Answer is because Smith is an excellent manager who is using tactics and knowledge to make our excellent offinsive players play superbly and our poor defenders play adequately.
No system here folks, just talent.
Weren't Brentford also on a 4 or 5 winless streak for DS's last 5 games in charge or somethin???

I feel utterly confident with Dean Smith as our manager. Taking into account the financial backing, I really believe he will take us to some giddy heights. As for the football he's serving up, it's an absolute joy to see us playing so confidently and always looking to be on the front foot.
I really hope we learn our lessons and dont implode on DS if/when we have a bad run, i mean look at Fulham, nice footballing team last year and a bad run in the PL and they sack their manager.
I agree totally that DS is the right man to develop the team/club/style, i just hope we dont forget that in 6/12/18/24 months, and knee jerk like so many clubs (inc us), have done in the past, we need to learn some of our own lessons, and i do think DS being recruited is us realizing some historic mistakes and finally starting to fix them.

Same people that have decided he is shit and written him off it seems.
It was one of his poorer games since Smith took over but still a lot better than what we saw of him at the start of the season.
I do accept we need to replace him eventually. I don’t think it’s a January priority though.
Well the fact that we literally don't have another left back means we do need a left back in Jan, whether that's as a replacement or an understudy, we need one regardless.

Doesn't his contract run out at the end of this season?, didn't Bruce tell him he wasn't going to get another contract?
U think he will get an extension?
Edit: my bad seems it runs out in 2020.

The three of them offer very very little and cost a small fortune in wages, I’d guess we are paying out a minimum of £80-100k a week on them which is frightening.
I would bet closer to 100 - 130k?
Jedinak 40ish?
Whelan 30ish?
Lansbury 40ish?
Then add Richard's and McCormack on 50-80k between them???, the amount of weekly wages on tripe astonishes and boggles the mind
imagine if we could free all those wages up and spend it on decent players...
wouldn't be surprised if we spend close to 250k a week on players who we don't really want ....

It's worth noting blose haven't lost many games this season, 3 I think?, so that implies they aren't a pushover.
Fingers crossed for a good result though.

What on earth was Bruce thinking of though when he left us with ZERO backup CBs, I can't fathom it.....
Did Bruce have a disagreement/argument or something with Elphick or is that just rumor?

Get seething he has picked up a **** injury and withdrawn from the squad ffs
Yeah says he might be a doubt for the brum game.......
-
Let's be honest MU prob won't want to sell him, so that basically means we need two new CB in Jan, or 1 x new CB in Jan and another at the end of the season.

How short sighted, weren't Fulham one one the best footballing sides last year?
Even if they went down they would have a very good chance of getting straight back up.

Any news on his injury?

Word on the street is the fitness staff were fuming with Steve Bruce's handling of his injury last season, constantly playing him when struggling, and he should have had an operation a long time ago.
He had his operation then?
-
any news on him?, injured?, playing?
From what I saw of him he would suit DS, capable player who just needs to work on his finishing?
Was always impressed with his passing and interchange, as well as pace and strength.
-
any highlights/goals vids around?, dont see any as yet?
-
I'm not watching today :(, I see it's 3-0 but how is our play and stuff??

We don't need more loans to develop other people's players tbh, we need to develop our own youth or buy players that we can develop to our benefit.
The only type of loans that should be justified now are the type where we genuinely plan to buy them at the end of the loan if they are any good (Try before you buy).
I thought we were trying to get out of the short term thinking.. .

My ideal XI:
Personally i would have Thor in place of Hourihane.
Then there is thebdebste around is Elmo mobile enough to play in the AMC role, or whether he would be better at RB?

I think hourihane playing the holding role helped Jack in the way he could stay further forward where he can make the difference
Hopefully this is the way forward
Personally I thought hourihane was terrible vs Bolton, of the options we have in that position I would go for Thor.

Hits
Terry, Hourihane, Snodgrass, Abraham, McGinn, Johnstone
Miss
Taylor, Lansbury, Hogan, Bree, Nyland, Elmo, Onomah, Grabban
On the fence
Axel, Bolasie, Thor, El Ghazi, Moreira, Samba, Whelan
Personally I think hourihane is a miss and Elmo a hit (or at least not a miss, a miss hit maybe)
-
watching Sarkic, he's not rdy for the first team yet 4 sure.
Bree seemed hit and miss.
conceding 5 goals when we had Bree (a lot of ppl want him to get a chance in the 1st team), Bedeau (supposed future first team?), as well as Lansbury (well paid U23 player ), amongst others, little bit strange.
Blackett Taylor looks pretty speedy/decent, hasnt quite got the composure maybe yet.
Is O'Hare actually as slow as he looked in the Reading match?, was like a snail??

I don't think we will get promoted this year.
However, im perfectly fine with this, I think the club and team development is more important, I think with two transfer windows and a pre season, we will hopefully be very good next year.
If we do happen to get promoted this season I see it as more of a bonus than a requirement.
-
Can see what DS is trying to do, and i like it, we just dont have all the players to do it right now (ie: we prob have 50% of the players).
onwards and upwards, Jan will be an interesting month.
-
is he not ready yet?, could it be any worse tho????
-
some nice runs, but also needs to learn that he is allowed to pass to a team mate.

So would you blame Fulham (whoever sanctions and buys players) or the manaher for their issues then?
Pity a progressive manager paid the price for a club wide mistake.....or at least what looked like a wider club mistake.
