Steve if Grealish was 29...I would say that is a valid point but he is still 20 so not much of a yardstick to appraise him by imo.

I forgot how influential chadli is in that team, my bad.
Chadli had a very good world cup.

Lol....movement is movement no matter who does it....even some of the Burton Albion players made sensible runs off the ball on Saturday.

The attacking 3rd consisted of de bruyne, hazard and lukaku, I'd imagine that's why it looks so good and less to do with Henry's impact.
And a relegated player from the Baggies...but hey ho.....don't let that ruin your argument

Belgium played some of the best football at the world cup....their comeback against Japan was sumptuous as was some of the movement off the ball in the attacking 3rd...and in my opinion, Henry would have had some impact on that approach over the last 2 years that he has worked with Martinez.

I just think a change from top to bottom is just that.

I would have thought it best if SB stayed given the circumstances... However, as I have no great expectations for the season ahead, perhaps now is the time to make a change. A new manager would then have a whole season to make adjustments ready for a push next season when the new owners have had a chance to take effect.
Look at the effect of low expectation and a calm manager on the England team this summer

I say out...like others have said an inflexible dinosaur....Henry will need to be given time to develop and progress the footballing style throughout the club and if means it takes 2 yrs to get promoted then so be it...it's not like we need the Prem TV money for survival now is It?
For me, it's about getting it right on the young player development and the style of play side. Building our house on foundations of rock rather than sand.

I honestly don't think the new owners are about pump in zillions on overpaid journey men to get promotion quick. They seem so far to be far more savvy and cleverer than that. I think we can achieve promotion with sensible spending and still begin to see a progressive coaching style brought in (don't think Bruce can or will deliver that imo).

From what I've seen re Edens and the Buck's new stadium, he worked a deal with Milwaukee city to pay £250m towards the build of the new stadium...now I don't think Birmingham city council could do that but good to know we have someone with strategic thinking that will no doubt be involved with the North Stand for starters!

If this is true re the re-valuing of assets to combat ffp then to me this shows our new owners know a thing or two to get us competitive quicker than we perhaps thought x

Just take the hit on both and feck them off. Let's hope we finally learn the lesson from signings like these.

I always like seeing one of our own make it and become a huge influence on the team. However, if it means sacrificing Grealish to balance the ffp books hence allowing us to get back to the Prem quicker then he may become more of a club legend than he could on the playing style. I still have my reservations about his overall ability at the top level and do think he is viewed with somewhat claret tinted glasses. But hey ho, nothing will be happening this week so I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy Daniel Levy looking like a complete clown for messing this up with his is contempt of driving a bargain!! Bit you in the ass this time hasn't it Daniel?

Let WWFC have their day....I don't think it will be lasting long.

Not once bitten twice shy but twice bitten how many times shy?

Just watched most of the first half and we seem very sloppy with just doing basic stuff. Part of me thinks that we need stability right now as the new board takes control but part of me thinks that this season will probably be about getting ffp in order so why not get in a new guy who can begin to lay a proper blueprint for an AVFC brand of football from top to bottom....the more I watch us struggle with Burton Albion, the more the latter option sounds appealing.
Plus points though are that Grealish and Chester both started.

RL was a tin pot $ billionaire in comparison to these two and as soon as financial constraints hit (divorce etc.) needed to asset strip in-order to claw back the money he had paid in or loaned etc. Then steps up the master illusionist himself who backed everything on the name of AVFC, parachute payments etc etc to earn a quick buck and would become a cash cow for himself (we all know how that worked out). It is also true about the smoke screen regarding Xia's actual business portfolio's.
One thing is for sure is that Sawiris and Edens don't need AVFC to make money; they have enough of that. They are also very transparent in their business dealings. Therefore, AVFC must be project for them both to enjoy. Although as it turns out, this project (if done correctly) will in fact rise in value to both of them.
Despite seeing so many hopes and dreams come to nothing in the last decade, this to me feels different because of the pedigree of both respective new owners. They are no fools in the business world and I would be dumbfounded to believe that they have taken us on without having a clear strategy that ensure progress, growth, sustainability and success (which of course will be defined as our position continues to grow).

My only concern with this deal is will one of these parters/owners be around to run the bloody club? Xia and Lerner both did not and I believe that is a main reason why we are where we are
They don't ahve to be if they appoint a proper footballing man to hold the reins for them.

Hi guys first post and as you can see by my username, we now have new hope.
It's not about the wealth, it's about the business sense and ability to deliver on all fronts. Yes, cash injection is a massive beginning but then so is being prudent and not frivolous with the money is key. Lerner threw money at it and we wasted so much money it was unreal. Xia threw money at it and look at us now! We need investment but we need sensible management at all levels of the club. If we can get it right, we can be sustainable and successful and will hopefully never be in this situation again.
I for one welcome the new hope that we now have and will look forward to seeing this grand old lady of English football rise back to where it belongs.

But if it meant we stormed the league the next season and then were more than able to hold our own in the Prem the season after....I'd bite your hand off!
