The new guys gave him an opportunity, he has let them down spectacularly.

I said this on the day of his meeting with the new owners that they were giving him a chance and he has failed.  He was given enough rope and he has hung himself.

  2. All I want to see is a manager that can come in and give us a 'Villa' brand of football which is implemented right throughout the club from academy up to 1st team and is given time to make a success of it and lay the blue print for any subsequent managers to follow.

Look at the successful clubs in Europe that often promote a reserve/youth coach from within who continues to follow on using the same blue print and are successful (Luis Enrique, Pep, Zidane etc).

I'm fed up with hiring managers with a short sighted approach that continually serve up rubbish on the pitch in the hope of smashing and grabbing promotion!

  3. There aren't any excuses for a manager who knows what he has in his squad (which is atleast one of the top 4 in this league) to consistently play without any real domination or style.....especially against a team yet to win and with 10 men!  It really is sad tbh.

I don't dislike the bloke but I think we are being held back by him and his archaic ways.  We have no flair or invention r adaptability or anything!

It reminds me most closely of the Man City takeover.

Thaksin Shinawatra was originally heralded as a wealthy benefactor but took them close to ruin particularly once his assets were frozen in Thailand. Similar ?

Then almost at the last hour, the new, very wealthy, owners took over......although they didn’t formally complete due diligence etc until late September, when they took full control. For a while - I don’t recall how long - Shinawatra held 10. % shares. He was also given an Honarary President ( or some such ) title which was later removed.

And of course, the new owners decided to stick with a British Manager who was already in Post, Mark Hughes.

I wouldn’t mind if the rest of the story unfolds with similar parallels !

And it enabled them to buy Robinho on transfer deadline day too for £35m or something similar.

  5. The first thing on the agenda is surely to stabilise and resuscitate the financial side of the business. Once this is done then we can think about growth etc.

They can do this whilst in the somewhat safe knowledge that we won't be relegated with the current playing setup.
