The suspension is totally out of order. The ref had a shocker all night. Both bookings Emi got were incredibly harsh. First was for time wasting when that wasn't what was happening. The second was for antagonising the crowd (not sure if that's even an offence) when he was asking for a ball from the ball boy.

    Shit it

And their moaning, diving little prick of a right back gets away with waving the imaginary yellow card in the refs face, which is far more of an actual yellow card offence. The ref was a complete clown.

Or, he could have been saying "I gave you 3 extra seconds - one, two, three - and you still didn't get the ball in play".

    No-one knows.

Martinez is funny - shows the true bias in football.  We'd absolutely hate him if he wasn't a Villa player :D

Nah, he does the pointy motion to point to different areas of the pitch. He was definitely saying this is your third time.

It was 100% a goal kick. It was only yesterday (and I wasn't drinking!).

It was a harsh yellow - the game was tied, it was early on and I don't remember a serious previous warning. Crowd baited the ref into it big time. But it was definitely a dead ball.

It was definitely a goal kick but I remember the referree doing the "one, two, three" gesture, as if he'd done it several times already, when he absolutely hadn't. He didn't even take particularly long with the one he got booked for.

It just shows how poor the ref was because he subconciously remembered the several minutes we'd spent with the ball in play at Martinez' feet and his tiny brain thought "oh, those times were all set pieces too. I must book him". It was a classic sign of a ref who didn't have a clue.

It obviously worked, but there was a point before Watkins' penalty where I felt that the whole pantomime could have hindered us.

Watkins had much longer to wait for pressure to build, because Martinez was engaging with the crowd/the ref was trying to assert control.

This was more because there was no ball though. The delay wasn't really to do with Martinez; Watkins literally didn't have a ball. Pretty sure the crowd were holding onto it or something.

It's not even comparable to Wimbledon moving to MK.

NEC is in the same city - it's 15 mins down the M6.

I am not advocating for it. but considering the NEC infrastructure already in place, it is a feasible option. Especially if resorts world arena is taken over by the exhibition space, and we strike a deal with them to build a venue that is capable of hosting 20k attendance concerts on weekly basis AND 60k football matches. Now THAT would be a cash cow that would challenge or overtake the spurs stadium.

I said it's not much better than Wimbledon. Obviously that was worse, but this would be a joke too. The NEC is in Marston Green, which comes under Solihull rather than Birmingham so we would be moving our club out of its city. It's nonsensical to even suggest it, in my opinion.

The space might be viable at the NEC but getting there is not easy at all. I can just imagine how bad the roads would be on match days. No thanks.

  6. I really wish people would get the NEC idea out of their head too. It's 13 miles away from Aston; it's not exactly that much better than Wimbledon moving to Milton Keynes. And getting to the NEC general area is nowhere near as easy as some people think, trust me!

    We stay in Aston.

we are not in Aston but Witton …

When we were formed Witton was part of the old Aston district, which is now part of Birmingham as a whole. We are from Aston. End of.

    Certainly not Marston Green.

How many times have I read that after a match? It’s our main Achilles heel and has cost us a few points this season (have to keep remembering though, we are fourth, which is not too shabby).

Lots of people here apparently think the starting line up was weird/disastrous etc. but we actually started the match really well and had West Ham on the back foot for the opening phase of the game. Then we lost control through poor defensive work, then we got momentum back after the 2nd half substitutions. Like you, I can’t quite buy into the narrative that this was a disaster.

I thought the half time substitutions were decisive and effective, indicating a manager who knows what he is doing.

Yeah agreed. If we can cut out these sloppy spells we have now and then on the ball and defend set pieces better, that's our two main Achilles heels sorted.

Just because we bottled those games doesn’t mean spurs will. They have everyone fit again and looked extremely dangerous v us last week as they did when they had everyone fit at the start of the season. Wishful thinking I’m afraid if we are hoping for them to falter. Luton at home might be the only one that causes them issues out of those 4.

I really don't think they did. The first half there was very little in it. We handed them their first two goals by falling asleep and we can ignore the last 30 mins against 10 men.

Stressful worrying about all the different permutations. I hate it and love it at the same time. I’m sitting here reading about when the wolves players are back from injuries ffs.

I was just doing the same. Is Neto out for a few weeks now? Can't seem to find anything conclusive.

It guarantees a finalist. It's more the head to head match ups England Vs Germany which are bad. Like 6 pointers basically.

If Arsenal play Man City in the semis then Bayern will be out and can add no more points and either Arsenal or Man City are guaranteed to add further points. It's literally the best scenario.

So who would have been an easier draw for Dortmund? Arsenal, Madrid, City, Bayern, PSG?

Dortmund will get hammered by Atletico. They are a very average team at best nowadays and were lucky to even beat PSV.

I still want to know why you think Arsenal v Man City in the SF would be bad btw.

We're looking at probabilities and Liverpool is odds on to get through. Against everyone left. Which means West Ham can't earn more points. It's quite simple really.

If you're talking about guaranteed results yes, if you're talking Probabilites it's worse A Liverpool is huge favourite...which means it's bad..

I really think you're overthinking it.

Because Liverpool is huge favourite against everyone in that competition....they are 50% favourites to win it all.

West Ham can get through as well which would be far better...

It's far better for our odds they don't draw each other.. it's not difficult.

If they don't draw each other, they could both lose and get 0 points.

If they do, it guarantees points. It's not difficult.

City Madrid ffs that is a bad situation if City get dumped out. Dortmund got the easiest draw too

Absolutely no chance Dortmund beat Atletico.

Germany are now pretty much relying on Bayern and Leverkusen winning their competitions and all English clubs going out at the QF.

    Smile.
