Was going to say any chance we'll see him at the Euros but after reading that I'd prefer not as last thing we need is him to aggravate things further, need an operation and then we don't see him for months next season.

Yh. Credit to the club for intervening and having him assessed.

If they got cold feet about rebuilding one stand, I imagine the timescale on sorting that would be about 6-7 years.

Clearing that site would be a huge job of work before you even got to the foundations of a new stadium.

I still don't know why we would over complicate things to such an extent when the obvious solution is to get really clever people to find a way of acquiring properties the other side of Witton Lane ( let's face it, if you are prepared to spunk a billion on a new stadium you can definitely offer good prices for all those properties) and build a new Witton Lane behind the current stand.

I don't disagree. I don't think the club will build a new stadium, it is more than likely re-development of the NS & DE stands post 2028. Over the next 10-20 years, expanding the club's land will be key to further growth. It is a positive that the club has already built the Brookvale academy and seems to be slowly encroaching on that area. Surely with any capacity increase - you will have to imagine that the club will also be thinking of constructing more physical infrastructure - dedicated women's stadium, Villa Live/ larger Fan Park/ Parking.

It becomes less about a new stadium but more about a campus/resort in the longer term. Atairos haven't joined us to stand still....👀

It’s their favorite stadium because they’ve all got happy memories of beating us so often during our abject years.

I do think that is true with regards to Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher.

it isn't bigger than what we already have

Edit - I just noticed it isn't the sliver

It is the wider industrial area. Long term it could be a better location for a new stadium/dedicated women's stadium/ -  V Sports campus/Villa Live with facilities?  A major regeneration of Aston with the club at the heart of it. In between Aston and Witton station too. If we are going to move ground at least go big and not far 🤣

Not sure why you are asking, it is no where near big enough to put the desired stadium.

If you really want to keep the ground in that crap hole area then the question should be how much would it cost to buy the required land on holford park.

It is a bigger spot than Spurs new stadium

There has never been a holistic plan for villa park. That’s the entire problem.

We have a bastardized trinity that replaced the most beautiful stand in the history of football, we have a dual stand holte that bears no resemblance to its previous single stand glory. We have a north stand that is quite frankly rotting and the Doug Ellis is an abomination purely for its name.

Isn't that the beauty of VP though? It started as a blank canvas that has been built in phases over 150 years. We have speculated about a new stadium and the opportunties it could bring to the club, but the more I see and read about VP the more I think we will lose our soul moving. I hope when the club does redevelop that the whole local community and fans can benefit from the changes.

In terms of space, development, better use of the existing facilities and any sort of future at Villa Park that features expansion - the key would be buying up land and houses behind the Doug Ellis Stand and building its replacement 20 or 30 feet further back.

Obviously the housing issue is very contentious but could we play at the same capacity while the DE stand is being rebuilt behind? Much like Liverpool did with their main stand.

I know I'll get laughed out the room ( Probably rightfully so )

However, for some reason... The Scum getting a new " Super Stadium " kind of worried me further about getting " left behind ".

I had a nightmare about the parallels between Man United and Man City.

Us OBS being Man United in the example, becoming complacent, disregarding the " noisy neighbours" ( As we are way too big, established and far ahead ) so viewing them as no threat until it was too late .

I understand where you are coming from, but that Wagner bloke doesn't seem too clued up about the sporting side of the game. I was watching a short clip where Wagner is talking about competing with "Apple" & "Disney", he also says he is not competing against a rival club in the City. He was quite dismissive of football, which surprised me. Objectively this development plan is good for the City/region as a whole, perhaps will bring our rivalry to a larger audience that will benefit both clubs?

Also the super stadium could be the Ricoh mk2 or Darlington's football stadium. The game has chewed up and swallowed a lot of big ambitions in the past. No certainties.

I think our owners are leading with the "sport". We are currently in the process of crafting a sporting legacy that will provide the substance to any new physical infrastructure that will be built. I believe and trust them, they have earned that right.

Besides, we are Aston Villa. Villa are the heart and soul of English football. The bluenoses can never rob us of that, no matter how much they try to be like us. Always a step behind.

It's very unlikely any development will take place around Aston Hall. It's a registered park and garden within which is a Grade I listed building.

A Chris Heck refurb in Claret & Blue? 🤣

It’s owned by the bankrupt council is it not?

Yes. The club reference Aston Park & Aston Hall in the future masterplan. I am guessing the club could buy and operate the land? Maybe build a muesum/hotel of some sort on the grounds? Part of a tour package/experience.

It'll actually end up being an inconvenience for City and United next season, as opposed to this season where they were just pretty much picking fights with us and Brighton. So of course they'll back off.

That is morally wrong though. Proud that our club respects the rules of the competition. UEFA should be ashamed of themselves.

Good to see this. Hopefully reduce the traffic chaos outside the ground on matchdays

WMCA notes on Witton Station redevelopment "Other options - including a fleet of shuttle buses from Birmingham City Centre - were considered by WMRE’s study but ultimately dismissed in favour of the station upgrade." - hmmmm why is this now being trialled? 🧐

New Villa Park to be built alongside an expanded Villa Park until ready, after which time old Villa Park is used for museum tours, hotel, match day fun, womens and youth games.
I'm sorry Aston Hall but you're just a posh gaff from yesteryear and you had a good run.
