It’s interesting Wolves, Nuno seems to be trying to transition them from a countering side to more of a possession side.

Apparently that’s the case. Will probably be a trying season

  2. Yeah, I didn't see that result coming.  First time we've conceded a goal or dropped a point against them since promotion so it was due I guess.  Bloody horrible as I love pretty much next door to their stadium.

Interesting that lots of the teams who were in Germany or Portugal at the end of the season are struggling a bit.

  3. For all this, I absolutely understand why you all love Grealish.  Player from the area, fan of the club, with a (great?) grandfather who also played for the club.

Similar to why we love Bully.

  4. Our Portuguese players have bought into Wolves much more than most of the British players we've had for decades before.  We have more of a connection with this squad than any I can remember, the only one that comes close to me would be the 08/09 promotion squad.

Absolutely. Not sure how that makes what I said incorrect though!

I mean it's not right that it's less people than I realise.  Sorry I realise this may have come across as being pedantic, wasn't my intention.

I agree with you, people won't be aware of that.  Most of the time we're reported to be owned by the CEO of Fosun not the company, but people won't even be aware of that.

I think a lot less people than you realise outside of the Midlands club bubble have any idea that Fosun are linked to Wolves.

That's not right, I don't think many people have even heard of Fosun.

Don't kid yourself. Any business is a good business if it makes money Irregardless of Fosun's own wealth.

Well, you may be right, but I don't think you are.

Football is a risky business to be in, and to be in it to just make money on transfers seems like a stupid strategy to me, but hey ho.

I would expect growing the club and brand would make more sense to them.  Of course they will want to do well in the transfer market, but I just don't see that being their primary motivation for owning the club.

I don't think their owners care about progression its more about cleverly milking money through transfers. I would imagine Nuno has the safest job in the Premier league.

This is unlikely to be their motivation, the money Fosun make from other investments makes Wolves as a business a drop in the ocean.

I was surprised to see him playing in defence. Does he do that often? It seems like a waste of his talents.

We basically have no right wing backs at the moment.  He's done it before but not really to much success.

Nelson Semedo should be announced today so he'll take that spot.

They made a good fist of it in the second half today but bloody hell Man City were brilliant in that first half.  Can we not play our game in hand please?

Yeah City were scary first half.  We probably should have scored more than one really, but we couldn't live with them.

Adama was bloody awful too defensively.  Constantly putting us under pressure.

Still a decent start, and don't worry, I'm minding that gap ;)

Are Wolves going to spend big money before the window shuts Andy as Nuno wanted a bigger squad but it's one in and one out at the moment.

We’re four players in and two out at the moment, in terms of first team anyway.

Sounds like we will be bringing players in from Nuno’s comments today. Just wait and see now!

You're right though, the squad is too small. He’s trying to rebalance it for a new approach. It’ll be an interesting season for sure.

  12. @Jimzk5 Jota wasn't a full International when he joined us. He was someone Altetico Madrid signed that wasn’t good enough for them and was out on loan to Porto, playing under Nuno.

The move to Wolves did make sense. Nuno obviously liked him and he wasn’t rated by his parent club.

You’re saying a player of his calibre judging by how he seems to us all now, but at the time he was a 20 year old fringe player.

Im gutted about this, £45m is a good price, but when it clicks for him he’ll be world class I think. Again, this is the model, happy to trust the club.

That's 2 players off at the first sniff of a top 6 club calling, ouch.

You don't know it's the first sniff to be fair.  He hasn't been starting for a while, and we knew this would be a summer of change.

Not over the moon losing him as he has been amazing for us, but club deserve our trust.

Beat Gillingham and it could've then been us... A chance to knock you out 2 years on the spin... Gone.

Have to settle for the Everton cup again I guess...

  15. Yeah, bloody embarrassing result that, fair play to Stoke.  We beat them away while in the championship and they were in the Premier League the season before promotion so what goes around...

Quite annoying as well given we would have had Gillingham at home in the next round, and with no Europe this season would have had a decent shot at it.  Grealish's volley was lovely the other night by the way, decent game that.

Don't know what happened with Jota, but his girlfriend is pregnant so possibly to do with that.

Stoke is never a nice game for anyone, and it's a mixed bag for us, we do ok generally, I don't think either side really has the upper hand.  Albion really tend to struggle against them, or at least they did.

I wonder if Wolves were to grab a CL spot they’d all be lodging complaints.

That would amazing after they’ve structured football for years to give themselves an unfair advantage

Things could start to get juicy at Wolves if Nuno leaves.

Mendes might decide he wants to move Traore and Neves and Patricio to another side to get himself £15m in the bank.

He won't mess with them while Nuno is at the helm though.

Mendes was helping Wolves before Nuno came along, he has more reason to help the club than his mate.

We've only signed one champions league player this window, and I don't think a 31 year old full back from Lyon raises too many eyebrows.

The move for the two young players from Porto makes sense for them, they've seen other young players like Jota, Neto, and Neves come along and improve as players, so you can see why it would be viewed as a good career move.

That agent fee does seem high, but I know nothing about that stuff.  Seems like every one is winning from the deals to me, Wolves improve their squad, Porto get the cash they need to comply with FFP, and the players move forward in their careers.
