But all of that means it makes more sense for us to keep and play Bree rather than loan him out.

Elmo and Hutton are poor, aging and probably won't be here come next season - why have either of them ahead of Bree in the pecking order then? Give Bree the run of game time here and see how he gets on. It's not like we're loaning him to a League 2 side, we signed him from a Championship team he was playing well in and are apparently considering loaning him to a Championship side. He's clearly at least capable at this level so why not play him for the remainder of the season instead of two players who aren't of any more use than him that have absolutely no future here in comparison.

Its all down to preference, while I feel there is still an outside chance of making the playoffs, I would prefer Hutton to play as our RB. Overall potential is Bree's but currently Hutton should be ahead of him. I think Bree needs to hone some skills and that a loan out, will do just that and he can come in and play next season for us.

  2. Or an alternative being Scott Hogan becomes a good fit at Sheffield United and starts firing some goals to put them in the automatic spots.

The following season Sheffield could then buy him.

Without being insulting to Sheffield United, its a smaller club compared to Villa with less expectation. He could thrive as he did for Brentford.

I mean what points were they at this stage last season? Not at the end of it.

Well here is the table for the beginning of February last season.

    2 Derby 30 9 3 3 25 9 7 6 2 22 14 +24 57
    3 Aston Villa 30 9 5 1 28 13 7 3 5 18 14 +19 56
    4 Cardiff 29 9 3 2 26 10 7 3 5 18 16 +18 54

This is Villa atm. Played 29, GD +7, Points 42.

plays off are gone too not being negative just a statement of fact - too many dropped points already.

    Fact is this isn't factual.

Thanks for these stats but we need the stats of last season. Wolves and Cardiff mainly.

Forget about them mate. What they did we already cant get to. 99 points for Wolves and 90 for Cardiff. Our max is 93 points possible.

    Automatics is gone.

  6. I entirely agree with you, its amazing how McGinn has endeared himself to the fans so well in such a short amount of time. Only been hear for 6 months, could say he already bleeds Claret & Blue.

Props to McGinn to become almost as well loved as our own Grealish.

  7. After the Ipswich game Aston Villa have 42 points out of a possible 87. The final projected points total will currently be 67 points that is points after 46 games. Basing this off last seasons final table will put us 11th.

There is still 51 points to play for giving us a maximum potential points haul of 93 points.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since the appointment of Dean Smith the new projected points total would be 69 points that is points after 46 games. That has included (Before Smith) of 1.25 PPG from Steve Bruce and the current 1.58PPG from Smith. Using 1.58PPG over the remaining 17 games.

Basing this off last seasons final table will put us 9th

Thought for the day: To make the plays off based off last season we need 11 wins out of the next 17 games and to match goal difference need a +16 goal margin.

I don't fear John going, what he's been with us two seasons. Only way Mcginn goes is if some crazy offer comes in for him.

I think If anyone were to get sold it would be Grealish and that would be just to ease FFP. I also think Jack is ready to step up but feel he loves it to much here, we have Mcginn who can easily transition into Jacks role if he does get sold.

It certainly seemed at Ipswich that Smith knew exactly how to utilise Mcginn, when he switched him the  no10 role which had him play further up the field. Thought it was very good playing Whelan and hourihane at the same time which allowed Mcginn to be a pain all game..

The owners don't need the cash, the club might to ease FFP and to bring some cash in for the summer. I feel a heavy loss is on the way if we don't go up, just so happens I feel it will be Grealish rather than Mcginn.

To show how perfectly McGinn has fitted into life at Villa, even fans think hes been with us for years! McGinn has been with us for 6 months.

  9. Sounds like he could be the striker leading our line next season then. For as brilliant as Abraham is, accuracy doesnt seem to come into it too much.

Hopefully the loan of RHM will help get him over the injury nightmares he has had and improve his fitness levels for us!

  10. Could just mean he wants him to play. He will play all of our players with an expectation that their market value will go up if they play well. Including Grealish.

We play Green and if he does well, he stays and we have a good player, if he doesnt perform he is match fit and we can let him go for an increase of value compared to a player who played 6 games for a league 2 side.

    Just speculating.

I think that ignores the massive impact having a shit keeper has. Losing johnstone for nyland was an incredible step down in talent.

The bigger issue was losing Terry. The leader and organiser of the defence. Also the whole team ethos has changed from 11 defenders to attempting attacking football, we may be failing at it, but were attempting it.

The issues is far bigger than a 'shit keeper'

There is still 54 points to play for giving us a maximum potential points haul of 93 points.

Thought for the day: The last player we made a profit on selling was Christian Benteke on 22nd July 2015.
