Just to confirm the overall and complete performance in the main 2 competitions:
Tottenham:
2 league titles and 4 runner ups, 47 years out of the top flight (last winner or runner up 47 years ago!)
European Cup - no chance!
Villa:
7 league titles and 10 runner ups, more recent winner and runner up than the tots plus an extra 35 years as a top flight team!
A whopping 79 out of 122 top flight years spent above Spurs!
European Cup winners - yes!
So Spurs overall less successful in both the main competitions

so i suppose tonight glaston is busy over on a real madrid site coming up with reasons as to why the 9 europen cups they've won so far dont mean anything
Maybe he's telling them about when Tottenham played in the 4th tier and how statistically speaking they've improved more than Real Madrid

From 1975 we've won more than Spurs, won bigger than Spurs and also finished above them more often! The again overall we've won more major trophies and won bigger than them not that it is hard!

I mention runner-ups because not only have we won more, we've also come 2nd in the main domestic competition (i.e the next closest to winning) more often too.
I haven't even mentioned the European Cup yet!
You're not even north London's top club and you haven't been the top London team for OVER 100 of the top flight years. Stop trying to pretend to us that Spurs are something that they are not

No trophies for making up the numbers for one season I'm afraid.
I love it when a fan of a team that has won a quarter of the big 2 trophies that we have (with your last win coming almost half a century ago) is so deluded. :yawn:

Villa have only one the title once since the Titanic sank, and that was thirty years ago. Villa are hardly heroes of the modern age either.
Winners and runner-ups in the main 2 competitions overall:
Villa 18
Spurs 6
Little Tottenham

The boggies were the much better side in the second half by all accounts, should have bagged all three points.
No doubt we won't see Glaston on here for a while
Not until he compiles his list of excuses and proof as to why Spurs are still the greatest team ever.

Or in the real world the team that hasn't won or got a runner up in the main domestic and European competition since man landed on the moon!

I think he was just talking about the positions we have been in the premier league.
You know the one where we've finished above Spurs 2 of every 3 seasons, had 6 more top six finishes and got an extra 50 points than Tottenham!
Tottenham have finished in the top six three times in 18 premier league seasons!
Then again I'm not surprised - you've spent about 40% of the top flight years out of the top flight so being in the division is a bit of an achievement given your history!

One of the ways you can really judge defences is over a complete season.
I seem to recall Villa having more clean sheets and conceding less goals than Spurs last season.
Dawson looked out of his depth against Hungary and it was his fault they scored. In the most recent match his poor pass could have been fatal again and he injured himself trying to get the ball back.
Ok, Spurs punched above their weight for one season but I think a lot of people are far from convined that Dawson has the pace and intelligence to be anything more than an above average premiership defender.
We've already seen that he is not an international footballer, more like a liability.

Dawson is so over hyped by Spurs fans.
The two games he's played for England he's made dreadful errors both games. Just because Gomes saved his bacon for most of last season doesn't make him a top defender!

You forgot to mention the number of trophies Villa have won compared to Spurs and how Villa are much bigger than the "little north London club."

A club that has not been the top team in London for over 100 of the top flight years has to have a special bunch of fans.

Dawson ... is a real donkey!
So if Dawson is a donkey, yet last season won the club's Player of the Year award, I guess it must mean that players like Bale, Modric, Defoe, Lennon (etc etc) must all be worse than donkeys.
So I can only imagine that, for you, it's a total mystery how such dreadful players have managed to secure a place in the Champion's League. Ignorance is bliss I guess.
In similar vein, I read on here that Delph is apparently much better than Dawson.
Oh well, never mind, poor old donkey Dawson can console himself with the thought that he may be fit enough in time to play against Inter in the San Siro, whilst Delph can look forward to a sub appearance against Accrington Stanley in the League Cup.
I stand corrected Michael Dawson is world class as was Djimi Traoré when he won the CL with Liverpool!
Dawson has been proven as totally out of his depth at international level.

I saw a link to Houllier's signings at Liverpool and it is a real shocker. He's well up there with O'Neill for wasting money.
As for pairing him with Staunton and Macdonald that sounds like a terrible idea. Macdonald should go back to reserve action (no more 6-0's please) and Staunton has done nothing to think he can make the step up.
For me if it is a Moyes, Jol or Mcleish I would be very pleased.

The first game his howler caused England to concede.
The second game his atrocious backpass meant he had to over stretch and he injured himself.

No one had more than you for a 14 year period. Impressive but when no ones won more than you for a 78 year period I'd take a bit more notice.

Incorrect. Cup competitions abroad aren't always taken seriously and the Uefa Cup was full of teams not good enough to win their league. You've only ever won the wooden spoon European competitions.

I agree a cup team - it's in the big 2 competitions where you've failed overall.

That's ok we've won more competitions from 1975 and bigger.
No moaning or comments from any Spurs fan will change overall and in totality we've won more major trophies and bigger major trophies.

It's amusing a small north London club that has spent 47 years not good enough to be classed as top flight standard have such a high opinion of themselves.
They've only won 2 of the main 2 competitions full stop - and managed the lofty total of one runner up in the big 2 competitions outside 1950 to 1963.
Bless them, they really do have ideas above their station!
Spurs - Arry's gone but we still dislike them...
