I want him back, he's definitely gives us something that we don't currently have, but I think a few of us need to give our head a wobble about how much of a difference he would have made this season.

Agree, he would’ve been an excellent option to have and likely would’ve helped gain a couple more points on the board but I don’t think he would’ve been a starter.

  2. It’s just highlights in general how different interpretations can be, 50% of people see it as McGinn going for the player, 50% see it as going for the ball.

I can’t believe we’re trying to justify a yellow card for this. The tiniest little kick out as a bit of petulance is given as a red card - this is a footballer absolutely hoofing another one. That’s gif is in slow motion and SJM’s kick is still at a decent speed.

If he just tripped Udogie then it’s a standard yellow, but that’s a horrific challenge and a deserved red.

Yet if that’s a slide tackle it’s just a yellow

I can't believe the mental gymnastics we are doing to claim 'it wasn't a red'.

It is the reddest of red cards. It's not accidental, he's not going for the ball, intent is to 'get into him'.

It's not badly timed, it's perfectly timed to break up spurs attack.

John did exactly what he wanted to do. And (other than the punishment) it was the right thing to do at the time. Break them up a little.

It's just a shame other players didn't have the fire in their bellies.

Disagree, it’s pretty much the opposite of what you said.

Reckless, absolutely. But from this angle, McGinn is going for the ball not the man. Udogie's touch takes it away from him, but McGinn has already over committed at pace to the attempted challenge. Unai is right to say there was no malice intended.

I mean you can see here, it’s just not a red card offence, if that’s a slide tackle I’d imagine 95% of us are saying it’s just a yellow. It boggles my mind some think it’s a stone wall red

  6. Watching the reply it’s clear McGinns intention is to play the ball and he is a split second too late, I personally don’t think it’s a red, yes it looks bad but it’s not a straight red.

Moders in the Brighton game should’ve been a straight red, he only got a yellow.

Hopefully we have players that can step up and fill the void for 3 games, which is crazy cos wasn’t long ago I wanted us to replace McGinn.

Annoying to lose him for 3 games, but least he will be refreshed for the final push.
