  1. Always thought he would be a very good signing, but not so sure about him now. How old is he? Would he be a very good squad player or starter? Just turned 30, starter...better than Downing IMO. Yep, I'd definitely go in for Benayoun, he runs at players and actually goes past them, opening space up for other. Exactly what we need at times.
  2. I wonder if Owen would come to us now and would he be worth it?
  3. Milner is a fantastic player only held back by the poor movement and speed of thought of some of the players around him. What do people think of Muamba? He seems to be the dominating presence we sometimes lack in the middle and, I reckon, a realistic target.
  4. Mate what is your problem? 3 points and well deserved. Not a classic game but we were clearly better side and restricted them to half chances. I haven't got a problem mate, I know my football and I know that second half was poor. We were great in the first half but Bolton pretty much dominated play after that. We need to learn how to keep the ball if we ever hope to finish higher than 5th. If you knew your football you'd know that away from home 1-0 up is a fragile position and you expect pressure in the second half from a home team. You may have noticed certain Barcelona - who know a bit about keeping the ball - succumb to this effect last week I know some people view results as the be all and end all, and that's fair enough, but I look at performances to decide if we are improving as a side. I was so excited in the first half as it looked like O'Neill had actually drummed it in to the players to pass and move in triangles. Then, second half, we completely reverted back to sloppy long balls down the channels. Don't forget, goal difference could count for a lot come the end of the season. Result = Decent. Performance (2nd half) = Bad.

  6. Heard it all before mate. For years we've apparently been shit and are going to be 'found out'. I'm still waiting. I don't know what point you are trying to make. We scraped past a poor Bolton side, that's no recipe for success.
  7. Deflating 2nd half after an excellent 1st. Pretty much every player drifted away after the break, particularly Young. Downing's crossing is on a par with Carlos's, it's really starting to piss me off. We got 3 points but that second half performance won't get us very far in the long run.
  8. yh 3 points is **** terrible If we do hang on it'll be only just. I don't feel a great deal of joy in scoring an early goal then switching off for the entire second half and hanging on by the skin of our teeth. We'll get nowhere with that attitude. Things must improve.
  9. Is O'Neill ever going to address this problem of giving the ball away and dropping deep to invite pressure? It's terrible football this.
  10. ****'s sake Gabby, another one-on-one missed.
  11. I doubt there's a team in the premiership that's worse than us at freekicks. Collins has had a dodgy game. They just seem to be walking through us now. This is what infuriates me about this team.
  12. Don't you think? I think we've barely done a thing this second half. Need to freshen things up with something, the midfield seem to be falling apart.
  13. ANOTHER poor cross from Dowing. Luckily we got a corner off it.
  14. Robinson is just a slow, brainless oaf, doesn't look like a premier league player at all.
  15. You can tell Wilshire is a better class of player than his team mates.
  16. Martin, please take note! Some of our passing-to-feet has been excellent and has allowed us to pretty much dominate the game so far. I hope Martin realises that fast, counter-attacking football with crosses in to the box isn't the only way to play football and we'll gain far much more from keeping hold of the ball. The goal was even a result of some lovely precise, compact football along the ground.
  17. That's possibly the most unexpected sentence I've ever read on here. :winkold: I'm not going because I struggle to afford to get to home games at the moment and I completely disagree with the inept profiteering of the New Wembley project.
  18. I've been saying since the early part of last season that I can't see an improvement in the way we play. We never look like being in control of a game and it really shouldn't be that way at this stage. Still, I have said all along that I'm happy for O'Neill to show us he just needs one more season to improve that way we play, particularly against lesser teams.
  19. youre dead right sure we're a nothing club 8th is our level and we should never even consider the possibility of ever finishing higher again, coz we're only aston villa I hate posts like this. Why can't you just accept that every manager is equal and we have to stick to our allocated position in the league table?
  20. Is this thinking ahead though or just thinking about today? We're in the midst of another very decent season and it's likely that provided we don't force him out that MON will be our manager for the next couple of seasons at the very least, quite probably for longer still. In fact, if we're looking ahead I think there's a fair likelihood that provided there are no total disasters O'Neill will be here until Lerner goes or until he retires. But the question is simply IF he goes. Which he might for various reasons.
  21. Wise words indeed This Yeah, I'm so embarrassed that we're thinking ahead, I can barely show my face in public for the shame.
  22. Can't believe Bilic isn't on there, I think he'll be looking to come to the Premier League in the summer. He insists on high work ethic but also wants his teams to get it down and play football. perfect.
  23. A tad unlucky, I thought we might nick it at the end but it wasn't to be.
