Does it really matter nowadays? Most clubs now have 3 managers in five years or shorter time. Someone like Conte didn't care last season Spurs gave Nuno about 10 league games, Gerrard was straight in when we sacked DS so he'd obviously been sounded out in weeks before which you simply have to do.
Villa job is still attractive as we tend to back our managers with what we've spent since promotion in 2019.

It’s not realistic and not going to happen . We’re 3 games in .
I’m no advocate of Gerrards tenure at villa didn’t particularly want him . He is here and his been here less than nine months . Results will ultimately be his measure of success but it’s not time yet to wield the axe. The owners are successful business people with other sports business franchises. When and if the time comes I’m sure they will react appropriately.
we’re Aston Villa not Watford. -

I think they'd say "£5-8m a year? Yes please. I can do an incredible job with that squad."
It's a decision based on performance and evidence. Nothing else. We have been awful for a very long time. Take out the new manager bounce, we have about 3 good performances when not sat behind the ball.
You don't get to keep failing in the hope you'll stumble into success.
Season over then. Bottom half nailed on. FFP pressure builds with the wages massively increased by Gerrard for regression on the pitch.
Fans will back the team from the off every game. If we haven't had the ball for the first 30 mins and are 2-0 down, they will be unhappy. If we've put together a few attacks and look like a football team, they will be happy.
The problem is the negativity builds in social media into the stadium . We do back the team initially but the atmosphere particularly at home drys up very quickly. No coincidence SG record has a better record away from VP. Platforms like this a fantastic but they can also help to build negative energy.

We won . I guess there is an element ( or fact in some VT threads ) that wanted a different result to continue the Constant Negativity tirade.
Lets hope we can ( ALL) can be united on Sunday and support the team thru 90 minutes .

Owners are not happy with Gerrard at all! This could turn nasty.
But there still bankrolling him in the transfer market
it will turn nasty as soon we go a goal down at VP

Genuinely interested in why you think that. Under Gerrard, we have no game plan, no style of play, he’s completely clueless and out of his depth.
I will repeat again I’m not a SG fan but believe he would muddle thru the season and acquire enough points with the players at his disposal. It wouldn’t be pretty for sure.
my point is despite what is glaringly obvious currently it’s not going to change anytime soon with the transfer activity the board are still backing him.

Not so sure about that. If this carries on they will rightly see it as completely unacceptable given the level of investment they've put in.
So why are we buying players still if they are about to get rid .

I hope three have revealed themselves by 10 games in.
Just had a look at Nuno last year...he got 10 games before Spurs basically admitted their mistake. Gerrard's already had 31. Tick tock.
That’s a silly statement, last year the relegation went to the wire and most seasons will . My point is despite the hysteria on this board I still think we won’t be relegated .
im not a SG fan but don’t think the board are going to pull the trigger any time soon .
let’s debate but come game day get behind the team . -

Who are your three to drop?
There aren't three worse than us right now.
Right Now
I don’t think the board are getting rid of SG anytime soon based on more backing in the transfer market.
it takes normally 7-10 games before the table starts to settle down.
we will be comfortable in the league but possibly not where we want .
To early to say but the promoted teams can still run out of steam it’s a long season .
anything is possible but I believe we still have a good squad .

Issue we have is we are 13th and 5 of the teams currently below us will almost certainly finish above us this season. So a few more poor results and it’s a relegation scrap

Don’t think we’re going to be in a relegation even if SG stays .

I’ve always been that we should give him the summer to get his own players in and see what we can do.
I got a little worried when McGinn was appointed captain, as along with a lot of us, I didn’t want him starting every week.
It seems to be getting worse and worse now, and perhaps it is time to react now. If we don’t Chelsea will get rid of Tuchel and will get in the best available person (I’d guess Pochettino), which would mean less choice for us when Gerrard does eventually go.
Chelsea are trying to extend Tuchels contract . We’re all in dream land if we think Pochatino would come to villa .

If it gets Gerrard the sack I'll take it. I'm looking at the bigger picture. We aren't good enough to win the League Cup and the Premier League has to be our priority.
I disagree mate
firstly we the fans pay top money to watch villa home and away .
There is Always hope we can win a few games and go on a good cup run
I have seen some shit managers at VP , in the past we booed at the end of the game but supported the team until that point. Today the pent up anger created by social media spills out in the match day atmosphere and can create a toxic environment. . Maybe I’m to old in the tooth but I just think we need to STILL stay behind the team during the game .
The board will hopefully take care of the running of the club based on results . I never want villa to loose .

Wolves out played Spurs away today. The much much better side. They've signed two quality players in the last week for positions they needed them. They will finish above us.
Leicester are a mess. When we play them in four games time, if Rodgers and Gerrard are still in position, the loser is getting sacked.
Be very surprised if Leicester sack Rodgers . Purslow won’t sack SG he has to much invested in him . It will take the owners intervention to make a change , that I seriously can’t see at this point .

Hopefully we are trying everything we can to get poch, then once it's all sorted boot the scouser out ASAP, he's dragging us down with his lack of management.
Don’t think so short term with Purslow running the club .

You do realise there are 100s if not 1000s of people on here each with their own opinion?
Its not one person flip flapping between opinions, the whole “fickle” shite only ever seems to be thrown around by the same people that get their panties in a twist when people dare say a shit performance has been shit.
Yep but if you look at the posts prior to KO most people were waiting ( hoping ) for this performance.
Massive difference between debate and pure negativity.

When we talk about expectations, how many teams can have quality like Ings and Coutinho on the bench?
This is easily the strongest squad since MON IMO.
It is a strong squad but it just how you manage and employ them .

Can we move this thread to the CBBC section .
