Games at the highest level hang on the smallest moments.
Konsa destroyed the game plan. McGinn is finished after that.
McGinn is finished ?
lost his head today but FFS he has been brilliant for villa this season- 1

We got it wrong today . System allowed spurs to play and they did .

He could score 25 in this team and still be considered bang average , Emery getting a tune out of him give the guy I break .

Surprised this thread is still open. Just don’t see Villa finishing above Brighton, Brentford and Fulham and even one of those teams is going to miss out on European football.
There’s not really any easy games but it’s going to be really tough to get anything against Man City and Arsenal (can hope the 12.30 kick off can throw up a surprise) and then Everton away I feel is going to be a tough away visit for any team for the rest of the season.
Agree we will be doing well to maintain our current position , move on next season .

I was curious who was ahead of him, from last year -
Obviously the total number of games will have changed (I think about 120ish premier league games). I imagine Konsa can’t be too far away either. It’s probably a fair guess that both could well overtake Delaney at some point, but then Carlos might have some say in that.
It’s really is an irrelevant statistic really . More or less games played V better teams or with quality better team mates.

Top ten would be great but anything else very optimistic

Your ground has a good atmosphere based on how well your team is playing (form).
That pretty much is always the case with any team.
If the team is shit or in our case can’t be trusted then the atmosphere will be flat.
This is how it is everywhere even the wonderful Geordies are the same. Not matter what the Commentators said tonight about how loud they would get there was little atmosphere until they scored…
Dont believe the hype if/when we get good again the atmosphere will return.UTV
No it’s not mate . I’ve been to plenty of away grounds where the home team has struggled . But the fans stay behind the team.
We could go on a 10 game winning streak and it would still be a struggle in the ground for atmosphere. It’s how it is now . We have occasional periodic game that’s electric in the stadium but they are few and far between.- 1

Players not performing keeps us all quiet, they need to start putting a shift in more and they might get more support.
I’d disagree the crowd get behind the team generally lifts the players . Away games we have great support .
Even when we went down in 86 -87 the fans stuck behind the team . Today it’s completely changed not just villa it’s other grounds as well . People just want to come and shout obscenities and generally moan . The Atmosphere disappeared a long time a go , if we’re honest we now have the occasional burst but it rarely lasts ..

I’m just not seeing Samson playing like some midfield general last night . He did ok scored an ok goal against Stevenage. His movement wasn’t brilliant he got frustrated . He was tidy with the ball but nothing special off the ball his movement was poor.
I may have nodded off with the boredom or the electric atmosphere. His just average …… -
Watched his movement off the ball last night it wasn’t particularly good . Passing wasn’t brilliant . Showed some good touches and scored a good goal but it was against Stevenage.
im struggling to see a place for him . 3 managers can’t be wrong , and the agents are not banging the door down for his signature .

You'd have to have been alive then and seen it to understand. Gray 76/77 won both pfa player and young player of the year award. He joined villa the season we got promoted. We'd been out of the top flight for many years. We only just survived that season. Next season he set the world alight. Gray is adored at Everton even though his knees were shot when there. They won a league and a cup with him there. They sold him back to us bought linekar and won nothing
He was a winner
Fantastic old fashioned centre forward

Never felt so optimistic with Emery in charge. We could sneak into the top 10 hopefully then really push on next year . We finally have a manager ….

He just doesn’t command his area and try’s to come for stuff and then bails out. I’d send him back to Roma and play Steer if needed.
Yeh I agree - seems rooted to the goal line . For a big keeper he lacks confidence coming for the high balls .
-
It’s reality . Lot of work ahead for Emery here . That will take time
