N'Zogbia at LB?
-
The main reason to not keep him on is his injury record which may get worse as he gets older.

You make it sound as though he's a saint, we must remember he was paid £60,000 A WEEK to do this role. Ffs i'd have been Lamberts personal testicle massager for 60k a week!
Actually he was paid £60k-per-week to be our goalkeeper. He had no obligation to help out on the coaching staff nor did he owe Lambert any favours after being 'bombed out' by him.
Except Given wasn't 'bombed out' by Lambert. He was dropped and rightly so at the time.
Wasn't he dropped from the bench in favour of Steer? I'd count that bombed out
-
He wasn't directly at fault for the goals but as others have said he was weak for a few of the goals.
The first one he was unlucky with a rebound
Second one, I thought he was slow off his line and weak. I think Guzan clears the ball and Long there and there is no goal
Third, I think Guzan gets a finger to that.
Forth, again unlucky that rebound went straight to Southampton player
Fifth and sixth I don't think there was much he could do
That's 2 of the most important ones that I think Guzan would have saved. Don't forget the punch he tried later in the game that didn't clear the box. It wasn't a goal but shows one of givens weaknesses
-
Robinson might be allowed given that he was in the squad earlier in the season and is under 21
-
Was very poor today.
As I said in the match thread I think he needs to have a vocal organiser beside him and thats why he looked so good with Clark. You would constantly see Clark telling him where to go and what to look out for

Woeful defending again. What was Lowton at?
-
Is that Steve Davis the one who used to play for Villa?
-
Grealish looks like he's sick of getting fouled everytime he gets the ball
-
Looking at Okore today and since Clark has been injured I think he needs a vocal organizer beside him, which I don't think Vlaar is. You always saw Clark organizing the line and telling players where to be. You don't seen the same from any of our other defenders

start of the comeback

What a disaster
-
The defence are woeful but so are midfield. Southampton are crowding out the midfield and we can't get onto it. Need to change things up
-
Gonna say I think Guzan stops 2 of those 3 goals
-
Well we have just had a huge insight into why we were so dire under Lambert.
His comments on SSN about Jack pretty much tell you all you need to know about what it was like.
Thank Gawd we got rid of the right one out of the two of them.
As regards his nationality as long as he breaks no rules why should anyone, particularly the media, judge him negatively whatever he chooses, he can do what he likes, full stop.
Some of the pontifications and winnings have been utterly deplorable, whose goddamn business is it ?!
What did he say?
-
Steveo I feel no matter what I'm about to reply it will be wrong ...so it's been left to your opinion and mine ....I think Shay did his job you don't
Given did let in a goal it was just incorrectly ruled offside
-
There were a few times when he had space in front of him but turned back slowing down an attack. But hopefully that comes with time and experience
I don't mind that, good to vary it, part of his impact is his unpredictability. If he always tried to beat his man and get to the line he'd be easier to defend.
I agree that it's good to vary it but I think it's the decision on when to do it that he needs to work on. A few times I think he slowed down good breaks when a bit more positivity could have created a really good chance
-
Was unlucky not to score yesterday and he's playing well and generally getting into good positions but his decision making for that last pass can be poor. I wouldn't rush into signing him up for a new contract and would look for better long term options first.
-
How long was the contract he signed?
The one criticism that I have of him is that he needs to make more forward driving runs like he did for the assist. There were a few times when he had space in front of him but turned back slowing down an attack. But hopefully that comes with time and experience
-
Given was poor yesterday and if I was Guzan I'd be knocking on Sherwoods door pointing that out and asking to start the next game.
One of the things most people were saying that Given does better than Guzan is disruption but at least three times yesterday, Given booted the ball straight down the centre over everyone to their keeper and once straight out for a throw. There was also that poor pass to richardson near the end (although most of the blame should go to richardson because he should still have been able to recover).
Looking at whoscored, Guzan has an average of 28 passes and 9 long balls per game with a completion of 54.7%, Given has 26 and 8 with a completion of only 45.3%.

Gabby should have scored
-
Grealish looks tired. Like to see someone come on for him
-
Just put that free in the box
-
We need to calm the game down and just play it around for a while. That's what allowed us to control the first half

Clumsy rather than bad. Looked like he was looking at the ball and didn't notice the player
