  1. Echo a lot of the football comments. I don’t think I could name an entire first XI of any other club.

Am happy to watch a game in a pub with a few mates, really it’s just background entertainment. The pantomime of it all amuses me.

I can’t remember when I completely lost interest in actually playing football or any sport, but it was years ago, probably my early 20’s.

3 points and extended our GD with 1 towards Spurs despite them playing at home to Luton while we had a difficult game against Wolves. Can't be unhappy about that.

Yeah I would say that that was one of our typically banana skin games successfully navigated (Brentford I would argue is the other).

Spurs I think still have two in West Ham and Chelsea.

The Rotherham fixture is a huge help, they should be safe with 2 wins, pretty much definitely 2 wins and a draw. So they just need to win that, and get a win from Cardiff or Preston at home or Huddersfield away. I think they'll get what they need unfortunately.

Maybe it’s wishful thinking but I don’t know, I wouldn’t be massively shocked if they only won one more match.

They’re failing to pick up anything against relegation rivals (QPR, Millwall) they’re failing to pick up anything against midtable potentially on the beach sides (Boro, Watford)…if it was another club I think I’d be saying they’re my pick for the drop.

I feel like Wednesday and Huddersfield have it in them slightly more to pick up a surprise win. sha are looking bereft at the moment.

But yeah, they probably will fluke it again. I do feel like there is more chance of it happening this season than I did the last time they were in this position.

After these two I’d say they have a decent run in tbf.

The slight issue they have is, although they seem to always hover above the bottom 3, the teams above them are starting to put a bit of daylight between them. In a couple of weeks time, Blues could win and not move up a place in the table.

    Up the terriers/owls.

    mate.

    Maybe, I don’t know.

I think Coventry will beat them. I’m not at all convinced they’ll win at Huddersfield.

So that leaves them with Cardiff, Rotherham and Norwich. Rotherham, yeah 3 points. Cardiff are very midtable and Norwich I think it will depend if they need something from the final day.

If we beat Lille and Liverpool and Man City do their thing - Spurs and the difference between fourth and fifth become completely irrelevant - we just need to do well in Europe and hold off United.

True (well, I assume you are correct re the coefficient stuff).

    I want fourth.

Sgt Pepper the movie if I recall correctly. As good as the Star Wars Christmas debacle.

Correct. Unfortunately, while I can infer what you mean, the comparison with Star Wars Christmas doesn’t really mean a great deal to me (along with the franchise as a whole).

It’s the cast of the sgt pepper film that interests me. Anything that features both Aerosmith and Frankie Howerd must be worth at least a cursory glance.

  7. I keep meaning to investigate Frampton’s collaboration with the Bee Gees (and George Burns). Just to see for myself if it really is as bad as it supposedly is.

They know exactly what they are doing, their job is to antagonize whomever they come across to get views and reactions. They know all the rules and have an answer for everything, and they go in with the knowledge that about 90% of the people they film don't know the rules or laws. You can tell this because I don't think I've come across a video yet where there hasn't been a confrontation of some sort.

And there’s the possibility the videos that don’t provoke a sufficiently angry response simply don’t get posted.

How come Britain never really embraced Peter Frampton? What’s the matter with you people? I don’t get it.  😉😁🧐

I guess we don’t feel like you do.

  10. Could have easily gone in the cheer you up thread…

The former actor Laurence Fox will not be a candidate at the London mayoral elections after failing to fill in the nomination forms correctly.

London Elects, which administers the mayoral and London Assembly elections, said the Reclaim party leader had submitted the papers shortly before the deadline on Wednesday, which were subsequently found to contain errors.

Fox, who last acted on screens in a 2022 film distributed by the far-right website Breitbart, is understood to have failed to provide enough signatures of support in two London boroughs, while three supporters from other boroughs could not be found in records.

Yeah, thats another thing I don't get - why do people feel the need to deface/ruin them? People are odd.

Well I suppose some may do so because they might feel a bit “Who gave him the right to paint that? I’ll do some painting too…” Which, y’know, I guess I can’t really argue against.

But if graffiti is inevitable I’d rather have “good” graffiti not defaced by less talented folk. Last time I was there, I noticed some of the better designs around Digbeth have been tagged and kinda blemished. So maybe there’s the “who gave you the right…” crowd and there’s a few individuals who take the view “Huh, you’re clearly better than me at this graffiti lark…I’m not letting you get away with that…”.

I am guessing, but that’s what I’d say.

    Banksy's artwork on buildings.

Always gets huge crowds. Are people genuinely interested in it, or is it just an excuse to upload a photo to social media to look cool?

A bit of the former, mostly the latter I would say. Seems to be the case that they don’t last too long which will only add to the exclusivity of being able to say you’ve seen it in situ.

  13. 14 pounds in a stone.

I typically have to use imperial for a person’s weight to get a sense of things. Kilograms I always have to take a little longer, I typically associate it when I see a maximum weight a lift can hold and it’s usually, I don’t know, 800Kg or 10 persons, or something.

I also run in miles, well I think of them in miles. Mainly because we calculate speed in miles (not that I’m bothered about my speed) and a marathon is in miles (not that I’m running a marathon).

Petty thing pissed me off this morning. Having walked 30 mins to work someone held the door for me when I was a good 20ft away causing me to break into an almost jog so as not to leave them holding it for me for ages. Was totally unnecessary.

I thought 6ft was the unwritten rule? (can be extended to 10ft if it's for a pretty lady)

They must think you’re looking off-the-scale stunning today, matey.
