  1. I will support garde all the way if he arrives but it's a huge risk in my opinion

got a feel of the solskjaer Cardiff appointment in all honesty

i want us to play good football and for once have a manager who has tactical knowledge but I'm not sure we've got the players to pull it off at this time. The pressure of being bottom of the league should not be underestimated. Every time that ball goes in our box our players will be feeling it.

i would be more comfortable with a manager renowned for making teams hard to beat. Which is why Moyes continues to be my first choice.

I wish people will realise that Moyes don't want the job. Forget Moyes it's never gonna happen.

  2. God Almighty, just seen a Villa fan interviewed on Sky Sports News who reckons there will be rebellion if Remi Garde arrives and that the fans want someone like Nigel Pearson.  Really?

Really don't know where they find these  villa fans from!

    SHA that's where

  3. I said in a previous thread that I believed villa were in no rush to appoint a manager and I expected that they wouldn't name any one till towards the back end of next week, I've always expected new man to be unveiled at man city game and start on the Monday with international break.

  4. I'm not saying by any means that we are down and out, I think we have a good team and are probably 2/3 players way from being an excellent team. I was merely pointing out that they always say 40 points is the magic number to be safe and for us that's 36 more but from 28 games. We are currently running at 0.4 pts per game and need to achieve a standard from now at 1.4. Hand on heart I think we will be ok with the right man, difference by going for garde or even galtier is the type of player we may be able to attract in Jan as anyone we bring in will have to hit the ground running. Interesting point though if we had adebayor from the start of season would we be were we are now???

  5. This is turning into a complete pantomime again. We are bottom of the  league  with a very poor squad. So what do we do go looking for a French manager who has a modest reputation in France.

Why we would risk the future of our club like this? Why haven't we approached David Moyes or Brendan Rodgers who have worked in the English premier successfully .

in my opinion the route we are taking is high risk gamble that we do not have to take!!!

Let's be frank about this, certain managers have been sounded out, the likes of Moyes, Rodgers, etc. This is standard in football, now if you don't get the response you want why are you gonna peruse deeper. Rodgers don't want any job at the mo cause of his severance pay. Moyes has always said he wants to see out the season in Spain. So forget them 2. Now look at the structure of the club with a sporting director, it's quite obvious that some of our foreign player brought in this term we on the back of his recommendations. And it's quite clear that the club are looking towards a continental type of manager, and why not? Lambert was touted as the best British manager out side the premier league when we installed him. Sherwood was the next big thing when we installed him so why not go left field. Doesn't matter whether we get coco the clown or Jose mourinho, the fact is the task is huge, there is an 80% that the new manager will fail in his target of keeping us up. We need approx 36 points from 84 available that 43%, equate that into the course of a 38 game season that's a team looking at getting 52 points however we have effectively given them a 10 game head start so now we gotta have the same sort of form of a team hoping to finish in Europa places 6/7 or even 8th. Let's make no mistake this is the impossible task, so whoever comes in has to have our full unequivocal support, if we are to go down let's do it with our heads held high and not slate the manager for that and hope that he too is the man to bring us straight back up.

  6. Galtier was a candidate when we took lambert on and also I believe when w,e took Sherwood on too. I get the impression that fox and halmstadt are looking at a continental manager pref one who speaks French and English.

  7. Going down this year is a real prospect, so... are we saying so long as the bloke puts up a good fight and gives a passable impression of knowing what he's doing, we'll stick with him in the Championship?

Managers have taken over clubs later than this in a lot worse positions and kept teams up. Any manager who takes over us now should keep us up!

What managers and what teams?? Fill me with hope cause 36pts in 28 games dos the fill me with hope if we are to achieve 40points.

Don't think about 36 points in 28 games, think 4 points more than some of the shit above us in 28 games, infinitely achievable.

Lowest points total to stay up this decade has been 33, 09/10 season. The gulf is getting bigger every year. I think the bottom 3 this year will all be in the 30's for points.

  8. I have just been reading l'equipe france no1 football newspaper and there is no mention of Remi Garde and Aston villa, there is a small snippet from Sunday to question whether he will become next villa manager. No talk of any talks or even talks breaking down over backroon staff. Even comments left on the article from French footballs fans have no mention of villa or even he taking another job, how ever one did say that he let Lyon due to certain pressures. Only other article in there is how he is linked to Arsenal wenger and how he was once touted as arsene's successor. Surely would of thought they'd carry some story of some substance. I am starting to question whether this is all media talk or even leaks from the club in a hope that they can persuade Moyes one way or another. Similar how man Utd were gonna bid for benteke only to get Liverpool to make their move.

  10. My only concern with Moyes is that we don't really have the personnel to play an effective 4-4-2.

That's bs, amavi, Clark, Richards, Hutton,

Then gana and Westwood holding with grealish and either Gil, sinclar or adama with ayew playing off gestede, that's more than good enough and you still have veretout, Sanchez, bacuna, lescott, lliorii God say it Richardson and more and that can all change in Jan with the right investment. I've said all season we should play 4_4_2.

  11. Moyes should be the No.1 and ONLY choice at this time. It should be his job to turn down.

A manager who (presumably) would have been sacked from his last two jobs would be the only choice?

    Yes.

The United job was impossible after Ferguson and I'd suggest that the issues at United were as much at board level where Woodward replaced Gill.

Also - Moyes had an almost identical record to van Gaal after 50 United games. The only difference was - Moyes spent 200m LESS.

What I'm suggesting is that 'the right appointment' is more important than 'a quick appointment'. And I'm making a case for why Moyes would be a good fit for Villa.

    In transfer terms, we operate at a certain level in terms of the calibre of player we can attract;

Again - Moyes signed Cahill, Lescott, Baines, Jagielka, Pienaar, Coleman, Arteta, Howard ... from lesser clubs.

That is the same level Villa are at - signing potential, so Moyes is worth considering.

If you consider this from Moyes' point of view - 3 of Villas next 4 games are Spurs, City and Everton.

In that exact same period, 3 of Sociedads next 4 games are against Celta Vigo, Sevilla and Barcelona.

The landscape could look entirely different in a few weeks time. And things could pan-out in Villa's favour.

For the right, long term appointment - there is merit in waiting to see what happens with Moyes situation...

And for that reason I believe villa will try and wait as much as possible especially as there are 2 more games before international break.

  12. Why does a 49 year old only have 3 years managerial experience? That's my concern.

Because he coached at Lyon from 2003 then took assistant managers job under houllier, after that he became their head of youth development before taking Lyon job in 2011 and eventually left in 2014.

  13. Remi Garde IMO would be a disastrous appointment, I'm pretty much 100% he would relegate us.Thanks to Tom Fox's willingness to give Sherwood 2 more games (why, oh why ?) the most able guy for the job Allardyce has gone.

For me Sean Dyche - at least if we get relegated there would be a case for not changing the manager as he has an excellent record in the championship. Won't happen of course, pretty sure our new manager will be currently unemployed.

Obviously Trent is a well respected ITK - But I don't think even fox and co would be that stupid. Id be putting money on Garde not lasting the season TBH

I see Garde as no more a risk than Moyes, Rodgers etc difference is we know what Moyes and Rodgers can do. I would take either of those 3 although in my opinion Garde may be a done deal.
