  1. Woody Good luck to you

I am just an old sceptic.

Well i worry for my sanity because bar my dad, no one else seems to see that the media is constantly praising a manager who is not winning anything, and his club may not even finish as high as they did last season. But yet we still hear how good he is, and when results go against him people make excuses for him??

I just don't get it. And when I ask people, why? They just disagree but do not seem to have any arguement for why they disagree (probably because he has achieved so little)

You've summed up MON perfectly in those last two paragraphs. Most sensible thing you've ever posted

  2. The thing i don't understand is this so called MON knows **** all about tactics? Just because he doesn't rotate his squad doesn't mean he doesn't know anything about tactics. The beauty of the game is to score a goal you don't have to pass it a million times.

Excellent. So you've just boiled tactics down to passing the ball around a million times.

No wonder we don't see eye to eye and your so enamoured by MON

  3. I hope he doesn't leave. He's a good manager he just needs to sort his act out with subs, I think hes just very stubborn. If he can get over that problem then I think he is definately the best manager Aston Villa are likely to be able to get. If he left who would you want to replace MON?

And lack of tactics, and ability to deal with bigger egos than his which is sky high, and look abroad for players, and not play favourites who had one good season in three and now can't last a match.

I would get a manager who can get his team playing more than Forest's funnel system.

  4. These dreadful manager comments were not coming out when we were getting results and got to a cup final. Yes it is relevant because he either is or isn't.

tbf, Risso has been peddling the dreadful manager line for as long as I can remember.

Me too. He's achieved no better place wise than JG and D'OL and spunked a shit load of money and makes the same mistakes over and over again and some people worship him. Bizarre.

  5. If we were owned by a man who would, following this season, sack the manager on the back of 1 result like this, I'd be concerned.

It's always "one result!" with you isn't it? Haven't you noticed that all those "one results" are added together to form the league table? And that for the past two years, the "one results" from March onwards have absolutely dismal?

Care to find examples of me saying it's only one result recently? I don't think I often say it.

And **** off with your condescension.

I have to be honest. I've taken a lot of stick in the past on this site about my serious misgivings about MON and I find your overt optimism towards him unwarranted to say least. That said your posts are pretty reasonable and courteous.

  6. Spending money on maybes is not the option you need someone in the top 1-30 in this list

if not then there's no real point. They are only going to be the players to be more likely than not to get 20 goals per season.

I made a joke in a thread in the last transfer window that we should follow up Salifou's signing with another Swiss league player and randomly picked a team BSC Young Boys and there top scorer:

    Doumbia Seydou

11th on that list and even though a joke league what I have seen of him he looks a talent and only 22. I think he could be a big name signing in a few years. Lot of the managers of teams take gambles on these kind of players and it's win-win. Look at the money Wigan made off Palacios and Valencia who cost them next to nothing. We are in a position financially that Wigan aren't that if we signed those players we wouldn't need to sell if they were a success.

We will never sign another Yorke the way MON does his transfer dealings

  7. Whats the **** point when we'll just launch aimless balls into the box. Pathetic football.

I agree any striker needs the service. No point having the world best strikers if they are not going to touch the ball.

Yes. MON has never signed a prolific striker iin his career and the system he plays kind of rules out any striker getting anywhere near 20 in a season in all competitions

  8. Petrov is playing well but he really needs to be careful not to get sent off.

Please please tell me what you mean? He's gash what has he done other than hack several players down one which led to their first goal

He's not gash (whatever that means!). He's getting stuck in and winning ball in the midfield and spreading it out wide. Milner on the other hand has done f..all.

Watch a replay of first half and see how wrong you are. Unless stupidly hacking players down that gives away free kicks in dangerous position is a good way of getting stuck in.

I've been saying it for months. We will not get 4th or win a cup with Petrov in the team

  9. Just remembered Zat Knight against Chelsea when it was 4-4, he was shown a straight red despite being between the player and the goal. Guess who the REF was, what a bloody coincidence just checked it out.

That is quite right, and if I remember correctly the Chelsea player was heading further away from goal than Gabby was at the time.

You mean when Ballack jumped over his shadow and came out afterwards and said there was definitely contact (only divers get asked if there was contact and always say yes, definitely)

  10. Dowd was a **** disgrace. He didn't send Vidic off because it is Man Utd and in the 3rd or fourth minute of the game. Then he proceeds to book two of our players but not theirs for similar tackles. Utter garbage and an investigation should be served on him (not saying it cost us the game but it could well have been different either way).

He booked downing early on,for his first challenge, then 30 seconds later - Dowd was seen on the big screen saying to Raphael 'thats two bad tackles - one more your in the book' ....WTF

And Collins before that. That pantomime was hilarious(in a bad way). Rafael did two bad tackles in 30secs or something and that tit has the gall to do that after flashing two yellows for pretty innocuous challenges.

  11. cuellar messing up for their first goal

It was Dunne who lost the ball to Berbatov. Dunne did the unusual mistake that cost a goal.

nope cuellar is the one who while under no pressure on the right with the ball at his feat under total control with no utd player anywhere near him decided to turn back and pass it to a utd player, the ball then went to the other side of the pitch where the dunne mistake happened. cuellar was the one for me who made the mess up.

wrong it was a clearance from their keeper straight to dunne who had all the time in the world but made a hash of it. he was actually unlucky in the end because he got back and made a great challenge, unfortunatly the ball fell perfectly for owen.

    Correct.

But Cuellar made a mistake six weeks ago that stuck in Dunnes mind and he had a flashback and lost concentration and was robbed by Berbatov.

Cuellar also caused the earthquake in Chile

  12. Playing next to Dunne I can see why MON paid what he did for Cuellar. Don't like him playing at RB but he is getting better there but should always be CB. I love the way he goes quietly about his business wherever MON plays him and gives 100% every time.

  13. Are argued strongly that we should sign Bent when Sunderland was interested. He was Spurs top scorer last season while only spending 2/3rds the time on the pitch that Gabby did. Now he has as many league goals as Gabby has ever scored in a full season with almost half the season to go. Tuncay would also given us other options up front. Why MON didn't/doesn't see this I can't understand. He's always gone with Big man/Fast man up front and he's far too loyal to Gabby among others to the detriment of our chances.
