  1. If Downing does not play, will Milner be switched to the wings again? I would not want this, would rather Gabby or one of our squad wingers go out there and keep Milner in the middle, which I think will be the secret of our continued success. MON has a hard call here, I just worry about what he will do. PLEASE KEEP MILNER IN THE MIDDLE!

  2. When we played Spurs our form and style was bad, we ground a few results out, even when off from and IMO thats the stuff of a top 4 team. We have now found a style that suits, Milner in the middle, we are finally starting to play ourselves into some sort of form and a decent style..

Spurs remind me so much of us last season. We were challenging and the wheels dropped off after a half bad result. Even the fans comments are of a similar vain. I think they will lose against City tonight and then the flood gates will open.

I just hope that when we hit our blip this season, we can all hold it together better, especially after our experience of last season.

Still think it will be a battle for a top 6 finish this year and Spurs will be in it.

  3. These are the games in my opinion that define us as a top six team, rather than a top four team.

We all know that on our day, we can beat anyone in this league, but it's the consistency against the smaller teams (no disrespect to Sunderland) and that know-how in terms of grinding out results that we still need to work on.

I agree, exactly my thoughts ATM (wouldn't say smaller though, just not as ready to challenge).

IMO, to get over this we need to go at Sunderland with all guns blazing right from the first second. If we sit back and try and boss the game and sneak a win, we will, IMO, fail. As we did last season in similar games.

The Sunderland players and their fans will be dreading our arrival, but if we start slowly and give them a little bit of hope, they will up their game, their fans will get behind them and they will be very hard to beat or even draw with. If we go for them and create chances, they will start to retreat and the old doubts will set in, then the game is ours.

Please Villa, go there and go for their throat as quickly as possible. 4-0 to the Villa, with Downing to score.

Ps Didn't MON support Sunderland as a child?

  4. The defense has been great, but we have always had a great defense, its the creative midfielder we have always lacked and now we seem to have the answer, Milner, has the lot and more to come, he will become a midfield legend, for Villa and England.

I would also like to mention Downing, nowhere near enough games to make any real comment on him, but what I have seen is very encouraging and IMO he may well push Milner for our best player come the end of the season.

  5. Had a peak at RedCafe and a few were quite complimentary "We weren't that bad, Villa were just really good".

Thats my thoughts exactly and thats what makes the difference with this win, we looked in control at nearly all times and thats was away to one of the strongest teams in the world. Thought the defense played very well, but the combination of Young, Milner, Downing, Petrov, Gabby and Heskey was the difference from games in the past. They played with purpose and never panicked and with a bit more composure they could have scored quite a few more.

The ref, while brave with some shouts started to make some terrible decisions as the game wore on.

One of the best performances I have seen from the Villa for decades. I have a real feeling Its starting to really happen for us now after so many years of s**t.

    :notworthy:

  6. What's happening/happened with Fergie then?

Think we'll lose this one, not confident at all.

Man U are gonna get beat so bad, they will sack him at the side of the pitch, or the shock of it may well...... :winkold:

F**Kin L, I am excited about this match. (wont be able to post for a month if we get embarrassed though) Of out now, to buy some more shit.

  7. Donovan's worth the gamble, he will try his very best and with Evertons injury problems I can see the logic behind it. I have a feeling he will do well. Agree with the Dempsey comments, he is a decent player who does not get the plaudits he deserves.

Arteta's beer for a signature? Sounds like a he was just having a laugh TBH, nothing to get to worked up about, is it?

  8. To be honest, I think the only reason we bought them both was because Everton wanted them and they have good potential sell on value. Same with Chris Gunter.

I don't think playing in the reserves or sitting on the bench at any team increases a players value. We have players who are in a similar situation, IMO it does them more harm than good, unless they are on the fringes of the first team (get occasional games)

  9. Vidic struggles with pace, he has had to foul Gabby in our last few games in order to stop him (should have been a penalty IMO). If we start with 2 up front Gabby needs to make plenty of diagonal runs to try and pull the defence apart.

I would start 4-5-1 though, their weakness is in the middle, they have no Scholes and Carrick is playing in defence (where is Wes Brown?) that prob means Anderson and Gibson start, put them against a midfield of Young, Milner, Downing, Petrov and NRC and they will struggle.

They are not weak going forward, Owen has hit great form and Rooney is the best player in the league. Its gonna be a great game, either way. I would go 1-1, thats prob means 4-0, to..........?

  10. SALF has started his mind games, expect a newspaper article pretty soon saying how Villa have a great chance of the top 4 and that their injuries mean we are favorites.........

Villa need to ignore Manures injuries and just play our game. Milner has a real chance to shine here, question is will he blow his lines? IMHO, NRC to man mark Rooney and one up front.

  11. If they store your IP address then they must register, as per the data protection laws. Ask them if they comply and who is in charge of the data, their 'Data manager'. This 'coys' site has no contact details registered with whois, its all cloak and dagger, setup more like a scam site than a football forum. Probably owned by an Arsenal fan......

  12. So you choose to go on a Spurs forum which doesn't allow away fans. Which is your choice. You could choose to go on a forum that does allow them. But you don't, you like to avoid fans of other teams coming on to wind you up, yet you do it elsewhere.

The cost of the server that would be able to cope with the traffic, with the amount of wind ups they would get, would be astronomical.....IMO :winkold:

  13. ...............Friedel

    Young Dunne Cuellar Warnock

    .........Petrov...NRC

    Young.....Milner......Downing

    ............Gabby

Stop them playing first and foremost. We have more than enough going forward anyway, and we can still go at them with this side- as was proved against Arsenal at home last year. Big John probably as opposed to Heskey for impact purposes (which is harsh), or even Gabby with that sort of quality ball coming into the box.

Play this team and i'll go for a 2-1 win and be quietly confident. I think we might not have enough protection if we keep the same team, and we wouldn't be able to change it if things aren't going well...but we would still have plenty going forwards. 3-2 united like last year in that case.

I would start with this team as well, I would perhaps consider one change and that would be........Heskey for Gabby. Why? Think Heskey brings our midfield players into the game more than Gabby who tends to stretch play with his speed, leaving our midfield unable to support him.

Reckon we will score first and the game will end up a draw. 2-2. This is a big game for Milner, especially if he starts in the middle, he can show the world how good he is.
