  1. £5 mil release clause?

Him & Lescott should be in the buy one get one free £1 bin somewhere.

If anyone is stupid enough even to offer a packet of crisps in exchange for either/both we should rip their arm off

Surely to God Lerner didn't actually believe that?

Sadly i think he probably did.

would be interesting to see what holloway thinks of our chances now, As far as i am concerned he was spot on with 16th if we were lucky with the squad we had 6 weeks ago when he made his predictions

  3. Would be good to go for someone like Rashford on loan for a year, Jose already having a clearout of the kids from old trafford and unless Zlatan gets injured i can't see him playing a single game other than the league cup all season. Not sure that a year in the championship would be his first choice after his last few months but it beats sitting on his arse for the rest of the year and getting dropped from the engand team.

Realistically Zlatan is probably only going to play 1 full season so a season of smashing in 20+ goals for us would keep him in some sort of limelight

He couldn't pass a football further than 5yds, it was pathetic. Another loser gone, good riddance.

His passing was fine, The crap he was passing the ball to was the problem

I still think pearson will do a job at derby...and moyes at sunderland...if given the time

Pearson will be fine, Moyes is useless, Hasn't got a clue what he is doing and will be sacked before easter only this time they will not be able to get big sam to save them. Sunderland are going down this year and wouldn't be surprised if they end up somewhere around our dismal tally from last year.

Fact is, after 4 games, with all the changes we've made, we're 3 points away from automatic promotion. I think most fans are just being patient as it's hardly been a disaster start, and things will get better, and there's more players to come in.

I am relatively positive compared to a month or so back but whilst we may well be 3 points off automatic promition we are also 1 point off relegation.

Too early to care that much about tables yet, give it 10 games & see where things stand

photo is from July but drogba would be interesting in as a player/coach to get his badges completed. He obviously has a relationship with RDM/Clarke already and perhaps we could be his step into a proper coaching/management role rather than perhaps heading back to chelsea where most of his old mates are no longer there

But with his history I would just prefer somebody else if thats the role they are taking up, Gnabry on loan for instance.

Can't see Gnabry going anywhere now that they have let Joel Campbell go to Sporting Lisbon on loan for the season, Campbell could have done a good job here i think if we had gone for him & no idea why Wenger has let him go

I think it is a little soon for 'I told you so' posts but yes he has had a good start.

I still stand by what I said though, he has a poor goal scoring record, I wouldn't have wanted us to pay £10m for him and I think we've got better.

So after 4 games Dwight Gayle has scored as many goals as our entire team.....

Not sure if KJT just has the same facial expression variety as Ayew but she always just looks defeated the moment the throwing events are about to start. Her & Thiam were miles clear of everyone else in the high jump, She is fast on the track and has a potentially very good long jump (although she is also a bit fragile here and prone to a first jump foul completely ruining the event for her).

She is still young but doesn't seem to be progressing at all in the field events, if anything she is getting worse due to complete lack of technique & confidence. No idea how she can continually finish top 6 when she doesn't even have a basic grasp of the mechanics required to throw a shot & Javelin more than the distance a strong gust of wind could take them.

Maybe she should pack in the heptathlon and focus on the high Jump. The 1.98 she jumped is only 11cms of the womens high jump world record which has stood for nearly 30 years and only 3 actual specialist high jumpers have been higher this year.

The gold in the high jump tomorrow is likely to only be 2.03 - 2.05 and 1.98 would be top 6, maybe even with an outside chance of bronze

Hmm, I said this last week about Katerina johnson-Thompson, The womens high jump final last night was won with a jump of 1.97.

Both KJT & Thiam jumped higher in the heptathlon and would have won outright gold...

Both of them are world class high-jumpers and with proper dedicated focus on the one event they would clean up in a pretty poor division

If she doesn't want to give up the heptathlon then fine but perhaps she could double up and do both, there is a 5/6 day gap between day 2 of the heptathlon and the high jump prelims/final so plenty of time for rest inbetween

  11. Same as Tuesday but with gardner in the team, Bench is truly shocking yet again. No options to change anything, You would think that RDM would have learned from earlier in the week, Obviously not. Easy 3 points for Derby when we inevitably run out of steam/ideas after an hour again

  12. 3 hours ago, S-Platt said:

Out of curiosity would anyone have had him as a sub last Tuesday against Huddersfield when we were crying out for someone to come off the bench last 20 mins?

I know I would but then I am pretty forgiving of most things!

As much as i never want to see him in a villa shirt again the answer is yes.

I said before the game that a bench made up of Bunn, 4 defenders, Green (not ready and hasn't really done anything when played this year) and Gardner (crap) would be our undoing and it proved to be the case. we were getting overrun but had no attacking options to change anything in order to give them something to think about other than trying to batter us.

Even 1 run at their midfield/defence could have been enough to pin them back a little.

  13. Just for those that seem to be keen on giving him yet another chance...

Don't care if he's on the wing or even in goal, 6 touches in a half (8 in total but 2 were kick offs) shows how little he cared last year.

It is only since we have had a new owner that he has realised that someone is finally going to kick him out of the door that he has started to do something about getting himself in some sort of shape that isn't round

  14. I would imagine that he will have a new release clause in his contract and still wouldn't be surprised to see him off in Jan if Leicester go out of the champions league in the group stages and are mid table. As champions of england they go into pot 1 so may get lucky with their group but could still end up with something like atletico madrid, dynamo kiev & celtic

  15. average salary in brazil for most menial work is about £600 per month once converted to GBP. Bearing in mind that there are an awful lot of people in brazil that will get nowhere near that.

Ticket prices for the athletics on a quiet day (no bolt or major finals) are between £65-£215 per session (morning, afternoon & evening. different ticket required for each session).

Evening tickets with a big final are between £85 - £290.

There are a few nosebleed tickets for some of the morning sessions (9.30 - 13.00) available for between £25 - £85

and they wonder why the stadiums are empty....

I think we will be on Sky more this season than when we were shit in the Premier League so you guys abroad should be ok.

Nothing to do with sky, Every PL game is shown live somewhere in the world meaning that you could watch every single game via some sort of stream. Now only the sky games and 1 per week on espn/bein are watchable for those who can not attend and even the radio commentary requires a dodgy stream as no commentaries are broadcast online

  17. As daft as it is this relegation may actually do us some good in the long run. We have been crap for years and i must admit that i just couldn't be bothered to go more often than not. A winning season with some exciting games & something to play for is the best way to get fans back through the door regardless of the division. It will also do the players the world of good as the likes of westwood, grealish, baker and the youngsters coming through have known nothing but defeat and relegation battles for years now so a bit of confidence should help them a great deal

  18. silver in the diving.

GB now on 50 medals overall compared to chinas 49 !

19 gold, 19 silver & 12 bronze, more than exceeded expectations already with more to come (Adams is guaranteed a medal of some sort in the boxing despite only having one fight so far which is a bit stupid but hey-ho)

  19. other countries accusing gb of cheating at cycling/rowing because they are so good in the olympics but not so good in between. The one difference between britain and every other country is that funding for the soprt is based entirely on how well that sport does at the olympics. No medals and the budget is cut/withdrawn, lots of medals and the budget is maintained/increased meaning these athletes are quite literally fighting for their livelihood every 4 years. Their one and only goal is medals at the olympics, if they win some at world/european championships inbetween then great but without the olympics they would not be able to cycle/row for a living
