As soon as a striker comes in he should go out on loan to Preston if he performs and scores a good amount of goals he can have a new deal and be in contention here.

So many easy and obvious signings we can make yet no action and pre season has started.

500 pages and nothing

Seriously? Is this real? Best part of 20 million on a keeper when we have so many pressing issues to sort in our transfer business?

Just saw a link that Leeds think they can get benrahma for 12-15m

We defiantly need a midget up front who is completely unproven with only 3 goals in 21 games

Is there a reason that nobody has snapped up Nathaniel Clyne on a free?

Good news. I'd would LOVE IT (insert Keegan gif) if we signed him. He's exactly what we need.

Yeah but he would cost a stupid amount as he was arguably a top 6 keeper this season. (Alison, Ederson, Henderson, Leno, Pope, Ramsdale). Although Lloris was injured and De Gea was shit.
I agree, not sure where I would rank him but hes 11 million on the transfermarkt website and often when a player is sold it is double whatever their figure is.
So basically if some keeper with potential is available for a 5 million or something like that then sure go for it but it is the least of our issues so no point spending serious money. -

Jack Butland anyone?
Yes, I know his form went to shit last season, but we were looking to sign him at £20m+ last summer, and a change might help him regain his form.
Available for £8-10m supposedly.
It is a deal that should only be done IF you know exactly why he has gone down the drain and that would definitely change if we brought him.

You have the Belgian and Turkish leagues, which we've tried and I think we all agree that we should probably only shop there for up and coming players with potential now.
For our main targets for the first team we have to be looking at La Liga, Serie A and the Bundesliga, maybe Ligue 1 too. Out of those leagues, I'd say the Bundesliga is most similar to the Premier League in terms of style. I'd have more confidence in a player making the transition from the Bundesliga to the Premier League than any other league. Also, yes it's a great league to watch. I love it and find it more entertaining than the PL.
Agree however if there is clearly an exceptional player in a poor league (Holland/Portugal/Belgium/Austria/Turkey) it is worth going for them

Still not convinced, something doesn’t feel right with it all. Maybe drumming up interest in the hope some other club else bids seems likely

I’m not sure that’s going to matter too much if he really wants to force his way out of the club, which wouldn’t surprise me seeing as he has already stayed during the bad times and kind of done his duty and earned his move now.
Everyone has a value and if it isn't met he isn't moving.

I’m not sure why you’ve all decided Grealish is staying...it’s all a bit moot on that front
Because it appears no one wants to pay his fee.....

If we sign Rashica I don't think there's any chance that we're then going to go and spend big money on another winger, we won't be buying both him and Buendia, that would probably take up close to half our transfer allowance. Grealish and Rashica would be first choice wide forwards, with Trezeguet and El Ghazi as back up options, maybe if one of those two leave we'll bring in another winger but doubt it would be an expensive option. Also if Watkins signs he can also play on the wing.
I think people are getting too fixated with play-maker types, we need big investment in other areas too, desperatley so in midfield, when you look at it we've only really got two genuinely decent central-midfielders McGinn and Luiz, and even with those there are slight question marks, can JM7 get back to his form previous to his injuries and will Luiz be able to continue his good form since returning from lockdown.
Eh? I see the complete opposite if we sign Rashica you are almost guaranteed to be getting another wide forward and spending money than CAN bring in quality players, Jack will be moved back into the middle and allowed to roam to knit it all together.

With all this plotting to offer, planning to offer getting ready to offer, waiting to offer, weighing up an offer.....
Maybe a rethink is on the cards from the top ?
Get accountants in to look through all clubs recorded accounts or educated guesstimates of clubs accounts and projected earnings for this coming season for clubs whose players we may want.
Instead of celtic demanding 35 or 40 million for a player, if the accounts show they are in deap do do, more chance of negotiation for a more realistic price. The club get the cash in the bank and we get a player for less than the 'rate'.
Just an idea....
One would hope that is the case every window.
