If Lambert gets us into EL playing like we do I'll be really p****d off cos we'll be relegated that season for sure

Pissed off with finishing 5th or 6th? As we'd be guaranteed to go down the season we played in the Europa League?

    Get out and walk.

He's got 33 posts now all of similar quality

good to know that you are judge & Jury

  2. from our in form players maybe we should start

                                      Guzan

                 Okore Senderos Vlaar Clark Baker

    Hutton                                                          Cissokho

                                     Cole

                          Robinson    Benteke

    ;)

If Lambert could, he would start like this

                                  Guzan & Given

                Okore Senderos Vlaar Clark Baker

    Hutton Lowton                                   Richardson Cissokho

Then bring on Benteke to Hoof it to when we finally concede a goal

    :D

    Outstanding.

Whatever else, lambo has bought some very good players.

    Lambert for DoF

  3.

But the centre backs weren't playing badly.

And how do we know Okore was ready at that point?

How come his good performances now are evidence that he was ready all along and not evidence that he was eased back in correctly?

Not saying it for sure but he only brought in Okore when he was the last and only choice? He couldn't have planned to have 3 other CB's injured just at the week when JK was ready? No one's that brilliant?

Of course PL is that brilliant............

  4.

So what part of PL's judgement are you worried about?

    He's playing him isn't he?

In fairness I'm pretty sure lambert is only playing him because we have no other options. Doubt we'd have seen him if vlaar, senderos and baker weren't injured.
You're right, we may not have seen him if they were all fit. But they were all playing pretty well, so why would Lambert drop them?

Okore was given a chance when we needed him. I still fail to see what Lambert has done wrong here.

It's what he might do v WBA that worries me (drop someone for Vlaar)

  5. The whole back 4 is settled compact & balanced ( 2 right footers - 2 left footers)

Taking out Clark for Vlaar would upset the balance

Taking out Okore for Vlaar would upset the selection morals

    if it aint broke...........

Lambert does like breaking things though (records.....)

  6.

Exactly, nobody can watch a video of Barca/Bayern and copy the style of play. It takes a lot of work on the training ground to play that way.

That's a fair point. However, other than bullying and injuries, exactly what work are we doing in the training ground?

From what we have seen over the last 2-odd years, I'd be surprised if it covered such abstract concepts as "retain the football from a throw in".

..I used to dream of retain the football from a throw in

maybe thats what he went for

  7.

.......................... If Lambert did goto Pep and has learned a few things.. Fair play to him. He realised it was not working and tried something different.

So PL had to have it explained face to face how Barca/Bayern play?

BTW  it was hardly BarcaMunich v Leicester on sunday

Silly me, and I thought managers/coaches watched games and video tapes

He knows how they play as do we all, it's how they train that Lambert was interested in seeing.

Very much looking forward to seeing Charles N'Messi soon

  8.

I would play Lowton at CM. I've always felt he has a better future as a midfielder than as a defender. He is also our best crosser.

My sarcasm-o'meter is clearly not working today.

    mine is

    crosses from central midfield?

sounds a bit "Hoofy" to me :D

maybe he should get a coach in

Clarke & Meulenstein may be available, Chelsea & ManU probably dont train all that bad...............

That's ridiculous. So obviously after watching a video of a side playing football you can get all the info you need on the weeks and weeks of preperation that have gone in to working towards that level and style of play. You can see in the video clips all the medical and statistical analysis of the different training exercises too if you look really hard...

    something he shouldnt already know.........

  11. -------------------------Goose

    Hutton-----Okore------------Clark-----------Cissy

    Richardson---------Cleverley-------------Sanchez

    Weimann-----------Benteke--------------Agbonlahor

    Nearly

    Cleverley - Sanchez - Richardson

  13. Credit to the manager Today. We really should of scored 4 or 5 and that was down to how Lambert sent us out second half and then the subs he made.  Gonna be quiet in here tonight haha.

So here goes with the "Sticks" I could find.

CNZ should not start under Lambert. He simply doesnt know how to play him.

The reason our build up play was better in the first 30 mins or so was because the back 4/5 trusted giving Clev & Westwood the ball. Sanchez was often too far right and forward untill Hutton Barked at him for being in the "F***ing way". CNZ f`***ed off to the middle & left thus disappearing alltogether in the 1st half. Hence Hutton not being effective on the right (always coming inside) at the beginning.

The "Crisps" goal was a joke, no DM cutting off the inward path

Great Westwood Delivery & Clarks header. (but shite defending - take it - thnx)

Against a, Shiter shite than when we are shite, bag of crisps it still took us forever to get in front.

Then against 10 men we still looked very capable of letting them score. F**k!!! how crap was that last 10 mins tactically?

Someone posted earlier Clev & Westwood are too similar. I agree (westwood being the more game effective of the 2)

Sanchez was forced deeper because of the changes (westwood) He's improving and despite Clev & Rich'son not impressing me we certainly looked better balanced with those 3 in midfield up till the red card.

I get very uneasy when opposition managers shuffle their pack and go for it - PL's only answer seems to be "sit deeper, hoof it & hope"

Against a better team with 11 men (including a CF - Sub nearly scored btw) we could have conceded (1 even 2)

Anyone wondering why we are so far up the table atm and IF we could have got results against Spuds, QPR we would be EL placed, think about this:

    Chelsea - Top dogs

Man C - were shite - getting better

    WetSpam - WTF?

Soton - breath of fresh air

    ManU - shite start

    ArseAnal - shite

    Newcastle - WTF?

    Swansea - see Soton

Loserpool, Spuds, Everton - All Shite

    Rest are really shite

If we manage to be less shite than the "really shite's" we should end up 12th

Lerner out - @ Paul - please walk

  14. This post has been written with full research as best I can find it from transferleague.co.uk so whilst some of the info might be slightly wrong you’d imagine it’s the fairest place to get it all as it’ll be wrong for all teams! It is a long post but the findings are significant.

    ....etc

    Cracking post

For Xmas, New year & the rest of the season I want to see a Villa team to be proud of, players giving everything for the shirt, a genuine intent to win games, playing as competent and as organised as the players can play.

I want to see forward passes.

    Possesion maintained from throw-ins

Corners & freekicks that give us hope of scoring.

but above all I want Lambert to set up the team lineup, system & tactics so that we have an equal or upperhand in controlling the game and result.

conceeding possesion and ground to every team is no longer acceptable

  15. Yeah the whole dividing us into clearly defined camps is pretty annoying. One mans deluded is another mans rational.

I completely understand where those who want him gone are coming from. The football we're served up IS appalling. Lambert HAS broken many unwanted records. I know Im stating the obvious here. He seems to me totally unwilling to make any meaningful substitutions in game and he is terribly uncharismatic in press conferences. It seems leaving training up to his backroom staff is something of a problem for him while he's worked with our players and in all honesty theres been little or no improvement in many of the younger players he bought in. We/ He knew when he came in we had little to no creativity in our midfield and every transfer window we've been disappointed with our lot. Im not trying to suggest anyone who's given up on him should cut him any more slack. I get it.

    ...etc

    Top post

  16.

    Guzan - Vlaar - Delph - Benteke - Grealish.

That alone will cost a fortune to replace just to stand still.

    around 25mill

That's not how it works though. Guzan cost us 250k first time around, and nothing second time. Vlaar cost 3m, Delph 7m, Benteke 6m and Grealish nothing. So, technically, you COULD replace those guys for 16.25m, but that's not how football works. We could spend 2m replacing them all and end up with better players, or spend 50m and end up with worse ones

I'm not into argueing but 25 is somewhere near the middle between 2 & 50

  17. What worries me above all is the knock on effect/inevitable that will happen to our assets.

    Guzan - Vlaar - Delph - Benteke - Grealish.

Liverpool & Arsenal may be looking for new GK soon and if Kroll moves on the merry-goalie-round may just bring in offers for Guzan - would you want to stay if you were him?

Vlaar's injury history may just save us here, but would he say no to a better deal/club?

    or just leave for free

Delph's injury needs to keep him out till February to put the brakes on offers for him.

    or leave for free too

Benteke - only a matter of time I'm afraid.

Grealish - No chances? ok I'm off then

That alone will cost a fortune to replace just to stand still.

    around 25mill

Then there's blowing 8million on Cleverley if PL has his way

    32Million

Is RL going to sanction that?

Of course if we were a fluent attacking side having a real go then maybe they'd all consider staying.

For that we'd need a change of Owner/Manager/Tactics/Coaching/Playing style and results

Still we can all wait for PL to grow some.........
