I don’t like people attacking things that could mean a lot to somebody else to provoke a reaction. Whether that be flags, picture of religious prophets or insults about someones mother. I find it all disrespectful.

I was being facetious mate. Point was discussing flag burning and anti social behaviour during the protests doesn’t undermine what the protest is about.

I know for a fact my Grandparents never fought for the right to deliberately try to provoke people by attacking what is dear to them. God knows what you think your grandparents thought for.

And that’s what this country allows us to do. Something if you tried to do in other countries, in many cases the countries where a lot of ethnic minorities in Uk actually come from you wouldn’t get away with it so easily. So lets burn the flag of the county that defends the rights for someone to burn a flag It doesn’t make sense to me mate.

Ok maybe not a hate crime but it is still provocation. Some people may see it as an attack on what’s important to them. For example if that same person who decided to burn a flag was burning a picture of Mohammed. He probably wouldn’t be breathing right now. Before burning any religious or national symbol a person should be ready for the consequences. If the kid that burned that flag gets the shit kicked out of him. As wrong as that would be, he would only have himself to blame.

Is it also gives good causes bad press. Other protesters should turn on these horrible people and make it clear they are not welcome.

Fair enough. The guy still knew he would piss a hell of a lot people off when he decided to burn that flag. He’s an idiot in my opinion and is in no way helping the cause.

I agree and I personally couldn’t give two shits about flags or anthems. But we all know it does mean something to a lot of people so burning any flag is a hate crime in my opinion. If that was a white guy burning the flag of an African or West Indian country would you feel the same way?

If the club didn’t give him permission to go then I personally think he should be fined the same way Grealish was. But there is no way they would have not allowed it.

Just seen Farage’s tweet of someone setting fire to the Union Jack. People going to these protests really need to stop this kind of behaviour. It’s perfect ammunition for the likes of Farage to incite more hatred.

I think people are giving far to much credit to the mindless vandals if they think their actions were because he was a racist. The were vandalising everything!

I agree with that. Same could be said of icons such as Mandela and Ghandi. Vandalising statues is not the way though.

You should all be ashamed of yourself for what your people did to the world. Quote Udham Singh, a man that managed to enact revenge upon General Dwyer for the attack on Jallanwalan Bagh in Amritsar which killed over 400 innocent people and injured over a thousand. ‘’I do not care about sentence of death. ... will come thousands of my countrymen to drive you dirty dogs out; to free my country.” They don’t stop protests or take revenge like they used to.

I’d be pretty amazed if that’s what went through the minds of the vandals before they acted. I totally get where you are coming from though. Ghandi is a another classic example of this. Very much idolised around the world but he was actually quite a racist person.
