Arsenal fans less than thrilled with Piers Morgan after his gift to Donald Trump :crylaugh:

    What a plonker.

Apparently its last seasons top. And lettering too. Which means Morgan had it made last season and has been sleeping in it ever since dreaming of handing it over to Trump.

    Makes it even better!

  2. I'm working my notice at work at the moment. My boss wouldn't let me use almost two weeks of annual leave I am owed to finish earlier even though I was due to move roles anyway and my position is covered so I'm working above template. There's no point in my being here, I'm doing the basics but because I'm an extra person all work was done by 11am this morning and there isn't anything else to do. I hate just sitting around wasting time, especially knowing I could be starting my new job earlier and learning that. Plus the guy who has taken my role has an incredibly strange sense of humour and is driving me mad.

    Colour co-ordinated joggers

Some bloke went past me today with florescent orange trainers and shorts and a grey top with orange stripes

Too much effort put into an outfit for jogging in

I was at the gym a few weeks ago and there was a guy lifting weights with some a grey tshirt, blue shorts and blue trainers exactly the same shade. I noticed he seemed overly coordinated for the gym. Then he turned around and on the back of his grey tshirt in big letters was 'BLUE SHORTS'.

Because if youre ever in a rush and cant remember what shorts coordinate with your chosen tshirt at least it written on the back for you.

US president Donald Trump has said he is prepared to apologise for retweeting posts from a British far-right group.

In an interview with ITV's Piers Morgan, Mr Trump said he knew "nothing" about Britain First before sharing three of its videos in November.

"If you are telling me they're horrible people, horrible, racist people, I would certainly apologise if you'd like me to do that," he told Morgan.

It might be just me, but that doesnt really sound like an apology?

I don't think there's anything redemptive about the ending! They're redirecting anger into potentially killing someone innocent of the central crime of the film, just because they're feeling helpless and consumed by unresolved anger!

    Spoiler

Id have to disagree. Yes they are redirecting their anger. But throughout the film he is set up as someone to hate, an example of police brutality who chucks people out of windows. Beyond a sentence in the letter from Willoughby the reason he is that way isn't developed at all. And then we are expected to hope for him in getting the dna and solving the murder. Maybe it's less redemptive and more that he's damned, lost everything and this is his only chance less. I can see how it could be viewed that way but it certainly struck me and a couple others who've seen the film as redemptive.

Either way, I really enjoyed it and would watch it again. I just think it suffers from the huge hype surrounding it and is flawed in several ways.

  6. I've seen a couple of films in the last couple of weeks.

Darkest hour. Great film, a truly brilliant performance by oldman who will surely win awards. I wouldn't watch it a second time but that's no criticism of the film at all. Highly recommend giving it a watch.

Three billboards. Reminded me of my first visit to New york. I'd overhyped it before going and it was briliant but didn't live up to my expectations. It wasn't that I didn't enjoy every second, just that every person and review I saw was fantastic. The lead performance is amazing (this month I've seen hostiles, darkest hour and three billboards and in all three the lead actor is fantastic). It's a film that will leave you feeling genuinely uncomfortable at times, angry at others. Backed up by other brilliant performances by Sam Rockwell and woody harrelson in particular. I don't expect it to be the best film I see this year, probably not even this month (hostiles possibly edges it) but it will certainly go down as a modern classic for its originality, deservedly so.

    Spoiler

Have to agree with others that the sudden redemption of Rockwell's character left me feeling uncomfortable at the end. I can see why they did it, but I'm not sure it couldn't have taken a different direction.

I'd also have liked them to develop the father a bit more. It might have taken away from the lead performance, but his character lacked the depth others did.

And a lack of closure in the ending about who the killer was. For it to be the guy in the bar and for Rockwell and mcdormand to have taken justice into their own hands having realised the police wouldn't act might have been more fitting.

That story is incredibly close to a friend of mine on a trip to Amsterdam we took a few years ago except it was a fast food restaurant, the waiter offered coke and he was in the toilets for what seemed to us (possibly experiencing the same time lapse problem this guy did) about an hour. Ive never seen someone go so pure white so quickly. It was equal parts hilarious and concerning.

I lie. It was most definately mostly hilarious!

Let's get this said first; well played Peterborough, a performance of passion, purpose and pride. Their fans made a good noise throughout and they thoroughly deserved to win the game. They should enjoy their celebrations and I don't want the things I'll say about my club to in any way reflect on their success.

They were the better team in three ways:

Commitment - they cared and they played like they cared, they worked hard, they were brave with and without the ball and they worked for each other.

Passing - they played better football than we did, it was them trying to get it on the deck, it was them trying to pass and move, their football provided them with their opportunities.

Chances - they created a hatful and but for an excellent performance from Steer they could quite easily have doubled their tally today.

For us, we're out of what is arguably the biggest competition we get to take part in - you can bang on about promotion all you like, but the game is about more than money, it's about more than the big TV show, it's about glories and joys and this competition matters. It should matter more, but Sky have said no - that's a different debate, but in a half decade full of shocking seasons, performances and results, this still has to take it's place in the pantheon of shameful days in this new century.

I think once you accept one thing, there are then two ways to look at this defeat. Here's the thing; I think it's important to note that the team we put out were talented enough to have won that game, we had the better players almost without a doubt.

There are two themes for our disappointment, one collective and the other individual.

We'll start in the traditional way with the manager - he's not had a good day - he's picked a reasonably balanced side but they've not performed for him - not tactically, but in terms of their commitment, their enthusiasm and their desire - this wasn't a team that cared about the FA Cup, or the pride of Aston Villa or their personal pride - it's part of the role of the manager and his staff to ensure that's not the case, that the very least we can expect is that those players give 100%, that they try - today that's not true of all of them. He brought on the right substitutes although you can argue that he took off the wrong men - all the paper things he did today were fine for me, all the things that involve thinking about football were good - but this team had no heart and that's one of the things I would expect Bruce to be getting into them.

The three things they beat us on are all things that a good manager has an influence on, he should be able to inspire and energise, and we should be able to play the kind of football that he'd expect - that we're struggling to play the kind of football that League 1 teams expect is a real concern.

    Some things are clearer individually.

First up, let's absolve Jed Steer of any responsibility - he's made a good half dozen excellent saves of the type that might ordinarily win you a match and he can rightly be angry with his compatriots.

Those that can say that whilst they didn't contribute enough, they did at least show a little effort or composure would include DeLaet, Terry, Davis and probably Taylor - they at least showed a willingness to try. Bree isn't a centre half - and I wonder why we keep making this experiment try to work - bless him, he gives it a go, but it's just not his position - he can also be halfway excused. I'm prepared to go easy on Green too as he's just back from injury.

O'Hare was willing and put in some effort, but he looks lightweight and ineffective - after ten minutes when our collective confidence dropped and Peterborough realised we were there for the taking, his performance dropped noticeably and he might well be better in a more confident side, but at times today he looked lost.

Into midfield - Hourihane was the most willing of them, he put in a performance with maybe 80% of the usual vigour of his league performances, short changed us a bit and coasted a little - in comparison to his peers, that's almost acceptable.

Bjarnason then, a midfielder from a nation that doesn't have the talent of some of the larger nations, but has achieved so much through a collective spirit and  a willingness to work harder than anyone else - today he bought the talent bit, not the other bit - the longer the game went on, the less interested in it he looked.

Which puts him some way ahead of the worst player on the pitch - Josh Onomah is fit, strong, mobile and talented - but mentally? He left the field after somehow getting 90 minutes with absolutely spotless shorts and enough in the tank to have played in the 17:30 kick off. He was sloppy on the ball, he didn't chase back, he didn't make himself available - this was as lazy a performance as I've seen in a long time. He needs to take a long look at himself and figure out what kind of footballer he wants to be. I would not be in the slightest bit bothered if he was back at Tottenham next week - there have been hints of it in his play all season but on this performance he made it pretty clear he doesn't care a jot about this football club. I would hope he has the decency to be ashamed enough for it to improve him.

At half time, Henri Lansbury came on. I know this because it was on the big screen. He played a through ball for O'Hare that wasn't bad and later he bottled a tackle - those aren't the highlights of his performance, that's it - before and after those moments, he was less involved in the game than I was.

Overall, this was a performance with less heart than a Vegan stew, less passion than a dirty weekend with Jacob Rees-Mogg and less commitment than a relationship with Mick Jagger. You can say it's just the cup, you can write this game off, you can forget because it's happened so often of late that we should be better than this, but if you do, don't come complaining to me when we bottle a big game in the play off run or lose the derby - these players think the game should be easy and they play that way - fair play to Peterborough for showing them what can be achieved if you go at it right way.

  9. I have to ask of the people who have said this shows the fringe players aren't good enough, we're you actually at the game? Because that result rests largely on Bruce!

Regardless if you want to go through or not, if you're 1-0 up you see the game out! The guy is taking us nowhere. But I'm sure we'll get an injury and he'll fluke a young player coming in and doing well soon and the 'Where's all the Bruce out'ers?' will be shouted like it isn't a perfectly valid opinion!

Totally outplayed by a League One team.  Very disappointing and shows that many of our players on the periphery of the first team aren't good enough.

Were you at the game? Taylor not good enough! Onomah not good enough! But those on the periphery? Let down yet again by an inept manager. That result had nothing to do with the youth not being good enough and everything to do with a manager who doesn't react, has no plan b, is too comfortable to score a goal and stop playing.

  11. Saw hostiles tonight. Odeons new recliner seats a great added bonus, most comfortable cinema experience I’ve had!

A fairly simple plot, predictable in places but extremely well executed. Bale absolutely steals the show as ever, just perfect acting. For a lengthy(ish) film with a simple(ish) plot it’s very well paced. Definitely one to watch for the oscars. 8/10.

three billboards is next. Can’t wait for that!

  12. My OnePlus is coming to the end of its life, more due to having dropped it too many times for it to handle and having two corners of the screen missing. The question is do i treat myself to the OnePlus 5T which ive had my eye on, or start looking into other chinese brands? Ive read a few reviews of the leagoo s9 but nothing clear on whether it will be available to order outside of china?

Is OnePlus still the best value for money?

  13. Signed up for odeon limitless after looking at the films coming out for 2018, lets hope it isnt wasted money. Will start off with the greatest showman, not overly fussed by the trailers but seems as decent as most to watch and im convincing myself that because the prestige was great and this is also magic it will be good. A loose link but a link all the same.

Saw Daddys Home 2 on xmas eve and it was on par with the first, good easy comedy to watch, a bit more cheesy overall and showcase mustve paid a huge chunk for their sponsorship in it but still enjoyable.

  14. I can't believe Detroit hasn't had a mention yet. Hands down film of the year for me, I couldn't fault it at all.

Thor ragnorak was much much better than GOTG2, with spiderman homecoming a close second. Get out was good but I'm not a huge fan of that genre so I probably wouldn't watch it again.

Justice league was as awful as expected.

I didn't see dunkirk because the reviews made it sound like my worst nightmare. And I didn't see baby driver but definately want to. In fact going through the imdb list makes me a realise how many I wanted to see but never got round to watching. Next year I'll be getting the odeon monthly pass!

  15. Justice League. Meh! Just a bit of a mess. The dialogue at times was cringeworthy. The villain not great. The 'character development' almost non-existant. I'll stick to Marvel thanks!

    Spoiler

My two favourite bits of ''dialogue'' were between Lois Lane and Superman. He is just brought back to life, a supposedly romantic loved up scene and she said 'You smell nice!'. she then proceeds to ask him what 'it' (aka. being dead) was like, and his response? 'Itchy'. Urgh! Who seriously wrote this stuff?
