  1. Been listening to Talk radio most of the morning . It seems the Villa have become a constant source of amusement,it's painful, it really is , but please do not compound my pain with the name Pullis . If he was any good he'd still be at Stoke , but they got rid , and why ? Becuase there is only so much banality a man can cope with . It's more than mid-table mediocrity I want for my club. So there Stan Collymore . Never trust a man who goes "dogging" .

  2. I'm not especially confident. I think it's in the balance. But I think we're still a bit better than them. It's quite a simple formula:

    v=((p[]*11)/11*max(p)*0.5)*c

where p[] is an array of player's overall ratings and c is overall team confidence.

the 0.5 is the conversion factor applied for the ability of the best player to drag the team up.

I make our $v to be a bit higher than QPR's.

    **** class .
  3. I'm sick to death of this continous rap about the hard run of games we've had . Bollocks to that !

Let's start playing with a bit of panache ,and a belief we can win a game . Thats all we as Villa fans ask for .

  4. I've seen far ,far worse than Joe Bennet playing for Villa . I'm not surprised he had to go elsewhere to rebuild his somewhat shattered confidence .

Aint no way he was going to be allowed to do that here .

  5. I was pretty critical of (and disappointed in) Bertrand last season despite welcoming his arrival. After watching his performances this season for Southampton though, I'm starting to come to the conclusion that it had little to do with him as a player and everything to do with the coaching and tactics of the manager.

I haven't seen a lot of Southampton bar the highlights. What are the tactics making Bertrand flourish there compared to here? Better cover for him so he can get forward more, more space opening up infront of him with Saints midfield set up, better coaching of game understanding on the training ground from Koeman? (a very good defender in his day).

Drooling at the memorie of that great Dutch side from the late eighties .
  6. One thing that bothers me is that our football is just really haphazard and I don't know, formless? It's the one thing that really bothers me about Lambert's tenure here, as much as I support him. Under McLeish we were very defensive with almost no attacking intent, at least he had a definable style however bad it was. Under Houllier we tried to play passing football to unlock defences, again a distinguishable style even though it didn't work out with the players we had at the time. Under Lambert, we don't really have a style. When we have the ball we just kind of pass it around a bit, but don't know what to do with it. Or we try to hit it up to the striker and hope for the best. There's just no footballing philosophy (which is something that is overrated on here, but still), positive or negative. You could argue we're a counter-attacking team, but we've seem to have forgot how to do that too. It's a bit disconcerting that after 2 and a bit years, we still don't have an identity under Lambert which is my main gripe with him.

The proverbial nail on the head .
  7. I have never been fooled by results that have satisfied my passion, but left my knowledge of the game wanting.

I like many fans....love the wins despite me having dark thoughts that I try very hard to keep to myself.

We are not progressing at all .....we are creating a stop start attempt at progress that is just keeping any manager in a million pound a year job....we need to wake up guys.

I would have a Tony Pulis right now.....not because I think he is the best thing since sliced bread, but because, we have limited resources and he resemble a modern day Ron Saunders, who we seem to be only capable of having kind of success with this type of character.

I actually think someone like Pulis would actually suit us quite well at this present time...bare with me. The bloke knows how to win games at home...I think Palace won 8 out of 12 games at Selhurst from when he took over and Stoke were always very formidable at the Britannia so I'd take regular home wins at VP thank you very much even if it was something radical like reducing the pitch a bit. Alas , it was ever thus .

In terms of template he liked playing big physical men upfront and pace on the wings. Well we have the big physical man in Benteke who can also play a bit (he' also get a hard on having Kozak in the squad). His best Stoke team had Etherington and Pennant on the wings and he got great games out of Puncheon and Bolaise last season so it is feasible with Gabby and Weimann something similar could occur.

Of course the style of football would cause dissent from fans but really on a consistant basis is our style under Lambert really that much advanced from what Stoke were playing. Today we had 30% possession and looked to hit Benteke at every opportunity, I didn't see much style or creativity there nor do I think Palace were actually that bad to watch last season.

Of course he has a shell life as a manager but we saw today there is a huge gulf between a regular top 6 team like Everton and ourselves so I ain't expecting a top 6 challenge for a while.

I just crave 9th, 10th for a season or two with no relegation worries whatsoever while we sort ourselves out off the pitch as that's the only realistic way we can move forward the way football is nowadays.

  8. Went there in 86 . Stayed with a local in a beautiful little place called Mgar , hope thats how you spell it . I used to walk to the Golden sands beach every morning , always remember this ubiquitous chirping noise , but for the life of me could never see who was making it . Also got a lovely blow- job off a trans- sexual , probally the best i've had , but this aint the time to be tip-toeing out the closet .8
