  1. Clearly we've turned OGS down, which is pretty **** annoying if you ask me. Then again I'm not surprised when I remember that this is the same board that appointed Alex **** McLeish.

    Chill out.

Some fans are so fickle, it is a joke. When It was looking like we were going to get OGS, Lerner was our saviour again & all was forgiven for the appointment of AMc. Now, 'Ole has turned us down' which is hearsay; it is back to criticising the board. I understand people's frustrations, but just hold fire until we see who our new manager is. If it is Simon Grayson, feel free to vent your frustrations towards our board. But just calm down.

From what I understand, he wasn't offered the job. The family reasons seems a little suspect to me, which consequently will no doubt be just a cover up so that everyone involved can put this whole debacle behind them without losing face. Villa couldn't have envisaged what was going to transpire with Rokke and all involved. Maybe Lerner actually believed the private jet would go under the radar....Ole certainly did. He was very open to talks and everyone knew the situation before he got on board that plane. And due to the media frenzy, maybe Molde weren't prepared for that. Who knows.

We can all speculate on what may have happened, but at the end of the day....What's done is done. Now let's move on.

    javascript:emoticon('')

Good Post - just chill wait and see what transpires - there'll be plenty of time to call Randy et al all the names you want IF the manager is the same old boring option.

Not like old Ellis never lied to us or never made a mistake and hired dross managers! And HE DID Interview for managers!

  2. Morten Gamst Pedersen:"You don't say no to an offer from Aston Villa."

Not sure who he's talking about tho, himself or OGS...

No matter what fans of other clubs or come to that some of our own fans think - Players (and Managers) still know our club is one of the biggest and best in Europe to be associated with! Feeling proud with all these positive tweets and vibes from people outside of the Villa family!!! :D

  3. OSG? FFS, do me a favour, please wake up & smell the coffee! How can the majority of fans on here be so taken in by a 45 minute youtube video that comical Ali would have been proud of?

I will be absolutely devestated if we appoint OSG. If this guy is really the dogs let him prove it first at somewhere like Wigan or West Brom and then, only then, should we show a firm interest. This is definitely not the time to be taking a risk on our great clubs future. We got it so wrong on the last 2 occasions it's unreal. Please PLEASE not this time again! And you wonder why we keep having to fork out millions in compensation for such crap, money that could & would have been better off invested in the team.

This is pretty much what I thought when I first heard the rumour.

Then I actually WATCHED the video...Then I read this thread with posts written by Norwegians and other followers of OGS's career, which were universally complimentary of him...Then I had a look at what people were saying in Norway about him...Then I read what OGS himself said about Aston Villa...And by then I'd changed my mind completely.

This is NOT "Some muppet" we're talking about here. This is a man who inspires almost unanimous admiration wherever he goes and whatever he does in football, a man referred to by some in Norway as a "national treasure".

If Aston Villa is ever going to inspire anybody ever again, we need to be taking a chance on somebody before the CL clubs come calling. The person to take a chance on is somebody with impeccable football pedigree, likeable personality, winning record, knowledge of the transfer market, and perhaps most importantly, ability to read a game of football from the touchline. OGS is exactly this man, imo.

This, big time! If ever there was something that needed publishing on the back of the Evening Mail, it is this (the CrackpotForeigner response that is!)

Yes - that should be sent to the Mail and Randy and Faulkner - Spot on in every word!

  4. Just playing catch-up on this after being off-line since Friday.

Randy meets OGS but it's just a chat

    Molde owner not happy

OGS states he has a 2 year contract and is going to honour it

OGS leak contents of a private conversation with OGS

OGS says he will leave if Villa offer the job.

    Is that about right?

If so, will Randy not take the third line as his prompt? If OGS said he wouldn't leave for Villa until the club p'd him off, would Randy still want?

4th line never happened either - OGS did not leak comments made by OGS - it was the CEO of Molde that did that - otherwise correct!!!

    third line never happened

he said that as of now he's got a 2 year contract and is molde manager, and that he has had no offers of a contract from villa

Well that clears up my confusion then. Much appreciated!

  5. For me Lambert would be the safe (although a bit boring?) option, whereas Solskjær would be the exciting (and of course risky) one.

Now after two of the most miserable years I have ever spent being a Villa fan I know I could do with a bit of excitement.

True and Liverpool and Small Heath Alliance can do with some Excrement!

  6. Di matteo Linked big time on the back pages tomorrow.

Yeah with the Chelsea job - Chelsea chairman told sky sports that he is a contender after winning Champions League - Press know diddly squat - we know more on here than they ever will.

They all got the PC all wrong Saturday then back tracked - what's make them so sure - the board are not saying a thing.

Looking more like OGS based on the PC from Rokke and tweets from Norwegian Press etc.

  7. I am frustrated, I knew AM was leaving about 2 weeks ago, or at least was 99% confident of it, but I know **** all on this and it frustrates me.

Yes - think nearly everyone on here is the same (bar a few who are not sure about OGS). But I know when it is announced - the relief will be tangible and heart from VP to Norway (and beyond). Think it is almost coming to an end.

  8. WHy won't it happen after Tuesday if nothing is said? I think (IMHO) that the announcement was going to be made AFTER the final game on Friday as soon as the break came. I would say if no announcement by next Monday. But I have a feeling it is going to happen.

Nothing to gain for either OGS or Molde now. It can either break down further and very quickly after today or we tell them on Monday we will not make any more contact woth OGS.

True - but maybe seeing OGS is a professional (and Lerner ain't bad either) they may come to an agreement - Molde will get compensation - Ole will finish the 3 matches and join us. That;s what I think - but football's a funny old game isn't it so anything can happen - might find Ole resigns tonight and takes over in the morning!

  9. lol This is a joke, people are willing to accept a player from the norwegian league simply because "ole" might become manager. Better yet, we should sign another player just so this guy can hack the pace lol.

    You really are very annoying.

I bet you used to stand in the corner with your arms folded at parties, telling everybody that pass the parcel is a fix.

The thing is - he wants Lambert or Martinez and players like Holt - you know the big target man rather than try something left field in playing to feet!

But as you said - it's a Villa fan thing (as I don't care about other PL fans) that we love to not give a player a chance and pre-judge. We got Tony Morley from Burnley - not exactly a world beating side but boy he helped us win the greatest prizes - but he too may have been blasted as not good enough - by some "experts" at least!

  10. Pretty much same as demetri don't mind both but I think lambert has that extra edge already having that prem experience. But whoever it may be just hope fans back him (lambert or ogs)

What's premier league experience got to do with it? Randy mad Faulkner were lambasted for wanting that as a criteria.

They were mostly lambasted for taking two relegations as an acceptable level of top flight experience.

But still premier league was the be all and end all. This time it's not and the choices are better than we've ever.

Something new vibrant exciting unknown - a journey into the unknown but the end of that journey might just be a rollercoaster and exhillarating.

OSG for me all the way!

  12. Here's a funny thing. People are now placing the fact that the manager should have some Premier League experience - Lambert,Martinez. Last year it was Randy's criteria of PL experience is narrow minded etc. How many wanted Lambert last year or the year before? How many wanted Adkins - he's not got experience at the top level. But many wanted him.

Now we have OGS - managing "a team equivalent to Championship/league 1" with part-time players not deemed good enough for Villa (Eikrem).

Yorke came from a "tin-pot" league - but turned out fair!

How many times have we moaned we should be looking at the unknown rather than playing "safe"?

People argued that Lambert won the CL with Dortmund - played at the highest level - etc - well so has OGS.

Wouldn't it be great to for once hear Villa being mentioned and being hated again rather than being a laughing stock because we have a young vibrant manager who may well be a success. He may fail but so would Lambert and anyone else. It is not an exact science - but taking the risk just might pay off!

This is gonna be a rollercoaster and I'm looking forward to it!

  13. Im with DeepDish on this one, he is waiting for an offer.

    Agree.

I really don't see what is to be gained by making OGS languish any longer in Molde.

After going 180 degrees against the wishes of the fans last time, you'd think Randy would go with the popular choice this time. If that's what he plans to do he should bloody well get on with it and stop making OGS look like a mug.

I think (hope) that we might get a better idea tomorrow - after Molde's match. I think to make it a smooth transition perhaps it is best to let them get these 3 games out of the way so as not to cause too much upset or disruption. Let OGS concentrate on the three games do the best for Molde then join us - the only transfers that can be done are for non contract players - the transfer window does not start till July 1st so plenty of time before players come back for training! and for him to get settled.

Just my take on it - probably totally wrong!

  14. Just sussed it - That PC was to get the odds on OGS out - once they hit 10's/20's the Molde Board will lump as much money on as possible and then when OGS joins us - make a killing and be financially safe if that investor **** off!

Some people reading too much into the PC - you don't turn a job offer down if you've not been offered one!.

I trust and will wait for our fellow Villans in Norway/Scandinavia to tell us otherwise.

Villa have not said a thing today but uncle tom cobley and all are presuming everything from Randy has **** up again to OGS has turned us down and we are heading for the same shambles like last year!!!

  15. What's happening with you and Villa from here?" OGS: They run the process from here, I suppose they have two or three other candidates they wish to talk to. Me and Molde will probably hear from them again, if they are interested. This trip was just to get to know each other.

Sounds like ball is now in our court!

    Jesus, that's a first

Bloody will be seeing we supposed to be a football team! :?

  16. Very surprised so many think this will definately end in defeat, baring in mind i was only the other week Man City lost to Everton.

Everton are a much better side than us.

Herd & Petrov were out in Birmingham city centre last night at 4am, really professional behaviour by our model captain.

    Anywhere between 0-3 and 0-6.

Really Everton are better than us? People on here and another forum weren't saying that when we played them at Villa Park - it was overload in we should havebeat Everton -they are crap!! But now all of a sudden they are better - but they weren't a while ago and the team/manager got blasted for not beating them cos they are shit.

Will be a draw or just a single goal between the teams whoever wins. They beat us 4-1 last season - we beatthem 1-0 here - same score line there so maybe the same scoreline today for us 1-0?

  17. Going to celebrate my 50th anniversary of attending my first Villa game on Sunday - started at the Villa v Charlton Feb 14th 1962! Here's hoping for a win. We got one then and I hope 50 years on we win again!

Forget the protests - get behind the team 110% NO BOOING no matter what mistake is made or by whom - during the game back the team (each one equally) to the hilt. Let them know and see the true Villa fan - the fan that through the shit times pulls the team out of the mire! Make Villa Park a cauldron of sound and a place where the opposition fear to come. I will be shouting loud and clear in support of each and every player - good or bad!

Villa till I die and not Villa as long as they are wining / entertaining / spending tons of dosh! oh! and have a manager I like!
