mm if dont get Abel Hernandez and need a maverick striker maybe a cheeky Bendtner bid :P

I wonder if Traore is our Maverick / Enigma player. Bring him on in a forward position and say "go get em son".

Hopefully a solid CF like Hernandez, Bamford or such. Shame we didn't make Defoe happen.

well, no, it isn't, it's just using a partial quote from your original statement. By leaving out the rest of it the meaning or our ability to interpret it wasn't changed, The message that you dont think getting rid of Richards or Okore is the prudent option still stands it's just that he left out your reasoning.

A partial quote it may be, but the contextual information of situation and world view not being present lead it to being taken out of its situational context.

There are different ways of taking things out of context, we do it all the time. If you remove some reasoning it can easily change how people see your statement and thus change its context.

There is a massive issue of mental state that needs to be addressed as a priority. We have had players that we bought that many top clubs wanted.  They have talent. Veretout, Gana, Amavi, Ayew, Richards, Gil, Adama, Grealish, Sanchez etc. All, apart from Amavi, have only shown flashes and flattered to deceive. How can this be? I would bet that if they went to other more stable clubs they would have probably prospered.

Agree with this. Think this is the issue, not their ability.

So am I. Teaching is not football. Kids are not overpaid adults either.

It is; coaching is teaching, development is teaching, tactic are taught, mentality can be learned and football titles can be earned through learning.

I have issues with some over privileged A Level students from time to time, so lots of similarities.

Else what is it? Why have academies? Why get developmental players? Why bother with experienced players (life long learnng)?

    life is learning

Richards is doo doo. Accept it.

I'm a teacher, you get the students you do and judged on your results. If you dismiss human nature from your students then they won't achieve. I believe he will get better - can't get any worse right....

He wasn't Man Citied though, he started his career there and was for a large chunk of it surrounded by world beaters. Now he's being exploited for what he really is.

Look at his appearance record from 2012, it's probably a mixture of injury, replaced by Zabaleta etc. But he barely played for years despite being on their books and ruined confidence (man citied). Almost 2 years out of regular football.

Okore yes I agree. Richards needs a shotgun blast through the face.

Lol (sorry for the text speak but I actually did).

Richards though was Man Citied, like Ireland and Michael Johnson. There is a really good player in there, but he should not be captain......ever........ever.

Two games in and I don't even care anymore. We could sign Messi and we would still lose every week.

Of course we would, he's a tax dodging, luxury player who could raise the team spirit of a self-raising cake mixture. We need spirit, we need character, we need more Elphicks!

  9. @StefanAVFC let's not quote out of context ;)

In a team where morale is high, drive to succeed is in gear and a team work ethic is in place these footballers would be welcome additions. Okore has known defeat for most of his Villa career, Richards has had the man city treatment.

It's a mental disorder and will take time to overcome. More experienced, solid examples will help build that confidence again.

  10. Incidentally I don't think getting rid of Richards or Okore is a good idea. I think getting in players who can help rebuild them stronger is what's needed.

Sinclair only scored on his debut for Celtic as they are a team of title winners. In all honesty I watched that game and Celtic were lucky to win but that's what confidence brings.

Price is one measure, technical skill is another - I really want players of mental fortitude. More like Elphick!

  11. Chester, Ledley et al. Are looking a good shout at the minute.

Okore looked like he wanted to leave the field injured, Richards has no leadership qualities. We need some players of mental strength to be able to position players, organise them and encourage them.

Passing, interceptions, tackling stats mean sweet F A without the mental strength that goes with them. That's why I don't miss Gana.

The most impressive thing so far has been the sheer volume of people we've been able to get off the books. Of all those gone, I'd say only Gana would have been a starter!

Midfield is where we are weak sadly, so feel it's been the biggest impact. If we could get another DM or a solid CM by the weekend that would be great.

Agent Dave, was saying yesterday afternoon that we'd met Hernandez's release clause, only for Xia to mention hours later that he doesn't have one.

It can't just be one person, it's a constant stream of stuff from most Premier League / some EFL clubs.

I guessed in my head last night Riley went to Batth, just was hoping he got a new job there :P
