If we beat Brighton, even if Spurs draw with Liverpool they'd have to win their last 3 matches and do so with around +6 GD even if we lost our last 3.
They have to play Sheffield United who are not adverse to shipping 4 or 5 goals in a match.

Sorry, You can't pin any of the goals on Olsen. Blame the midfield and the defense instead...
I think Olsen could have done a bit more to try and stop the second goal, but I can't really blame him for the result or performance like some have. He could be better at playing it from the back, but his main problem is that he is not Emi, so he gets unfairly compared.
-
Hopefully with Pau, tielemans and Emi back for the second leg we might just have a chance. Still very difficult though.

At what point are we going to have a serious discussion about the amount of goals we concede. This can’t go on.
Emery didn't seem too bothered about it in his press conference.

What a cheesy comment.

Missed the first half but baffled by this decision. Shirt pull is 50/50 at best. The defender just takes a tumble needlessly
The officiating has been atrocious so far.

I think we will get goals as olympiakos are a basket case. They conceded 4 in one leg of the last 16 and were 3 nil up against fenerbahce before letting in 2. Its like bielsa ball.

That was one of the clearest penalties I have ever seen - what a joke!
Not even a Var check on it either but they are happy to give their first goal when it was very marginal.

Chelsea's defence can definitely be got at tonight. Hopefully they have their shooting boots on and score more than they conceed.

Last year Moreno and now Rogers. Another product of Monchi's January transfer masterclass.

I would love to know how much revenue our smallest stand makes us, do we have the figure?
Attendance receipts are pretty small compared to overall revenue. I believe gates are about 10-15m per year but am not 100% sure

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I think specific club podcasts are more interesting when the team is struggling
Only so many times you can hear how great Unai is
I bet the blues podcasts are a riot every year.

In fairness to Diego, he's had a couple of exceptional performances as well as some mares.
Players who aren't getting consistent football will blow hot and cold.
Villa players called Carlos will blow hot and cold. Remember Carlos Sanchez & Carles Gil(close enough)?! They were the same.

Yeah, I bet he rode it. I'm sure he just wasn't sent a photo by a staff member
How dare you?! I heard he rode it like Sea Biscuit.

Looks like he's been playing quite regularly in Saudi.
Maybe we will get an offer if anyone wants a big name.
His book value is about £8m now and you can subtract whatever loan fee we got from that.
With a bit of luck and a fair wind we might even get a FFP profit and his wages off the books. Qatar or MLS?
Another year in Saudi won't harm us either.
He is on loan to a club in Qatar...not Saudi

Seems like a bit of an unpopular opinion these days, but MOMS is the podcast I look forward to listening to the most.
Claret & Blue is watchable and I particularly like the post match reaction show. But they sometimes put out extra shows for the sake if it (presumably under pressure from Reach to generate extra revenue).
I don't get the Gregg hate on 1874 as he does a professional job. Its an ok podcast, if a little bit run of the mill.
If all villa podcasts formed a football team then I could imagine Neil from FtLoPM would be the manager, as he seems to have a good tactical knowledge.

Contract until 2026. Unless we buy him out or find a deal to offset it we shall see.
It sounds worse than it is. Wages have been covered for this season and next by the Qatar club. We just have to sell him after that or loan him out again for the remaining 12 months.

I thought Adidas tier 2 clubs like villa got a custom kit, rather then a template. Surely the150 logo would either be on the sleeve or at the top of the back of the shirt like we have with the little lion.

First season with the team, think he's been decent. Started well but faded.
He didn't really hit his stride with Leverkusen until his third season really. Next season is big for him.
No chance he's going in the summer IMO. Can't write him off, 100% confident Unai wont.
Diaby's early form showed he has the ability to do well here and I'm reasonably confident he will shine like Bailey has done.

Bailey was hindered by injury and still showed way more promise than Diaby
I don't think that's true. Just look back through the bailey thread from last season. Most fans wanted to get rid ... Even JV was coming to the realisation!

They almost always just give it to the manager who wins the league, with 1 exception in the past decade
If Pulis can win it for finishing 11th on 45 points then unai should be a shoe in.

The plethora of young players we have, but not one we can call upon with confidence to come into our midfield, or indeed in goals.
We will need to buy for those positions, and indeed in other positions, for instance up front.
So what is our youth system - an expensive hobby? - a sop to FFT?
Its mainly going to be a revenue generator for FFP, with the occasional gem coming through who is good enough for the first team.
Given how competitive matches are we can't afford to develop a lot of youth players with first team opportunities unless they are exceptional.
