Yes would have loved him but sensibly we didn't sign him.

Wrong age . Big wages. Long deal. No resale.

That was when we did things relatively right. If it wad last season we'd have signed him 125k 4 years plus 1 option.

Good job we signed decent players instead like….. hang on babe to google his name….. Ally Samatta

  2. A confidence player. The way we’ve been playing at the moment and the atmosphere within the club are not going to help a player like him. If we start playing better under Emery he could still do ok but at the moment he’s not where he or us need to be, obviously not going to make the England squad a break will do him the world of good.

Yeah, the consensus on this board seems to be we have a top-10 worthy squad underperforming under Gerrard.

Yeah they’d probably be right on paper, but football isn’t played on paper it’s played on grass. From what I’ve witnessed were a team fighting relegation but without the fight. This season will be a struggle regardless of who comes in, it’s a worry,

  4. Feel for the guy. Deserves a chance for once, must be soul destroying watching our midfield and not being able to get ANY game time in front of them, even as a cameo from the bench. Must be shaking his head as to why he left a decent champions league team to come to us.

Probably £15-20m comp - but it’s worth it, we cannot gamble any further.

If he has any ambition to get the Liverpool job, he should just walk for free and say he’s had a disagreement with the board or something. Every game that goes by, his stock falls and if he goes on for another few games and he gets sacked there no coming back for him.

  6. Needs to go. We are the easiest team to play against bar Man U who will turn it around. Shocking really, can’t see three worse teams than us which is very worrying. Hard games coming up too.

The 'its difficult because they are parking the bus' line is true, but not good enough. Most other teams find a way past that approach, which is why Watford are where they are. If we can't match the achievement of most other teams, logic says we will end up closer to Watford than most other teams.

All other prem fixtures bar one are nil nil at the moment so not strictly true.

Mali won yesterday, so good chance he be in Africa even longer.
Is it even possible to sign him in Jan?

Yeah I’d wait until the summer, likely miss too many games and realistically won’t finish much higher with him in the team. He will the only have 1 year left on his contract then too so will be able to negotiate a better fee for us, and also hopefully the police matter will be but to bed. Makes more sense to me.

Wish him well. No where near good enough unfortunately. I do wonder what the hell Everton are doing.

    Good Luck Anwar.

Me too it’s quite amusing. They remind me of us years ago. Employ ex manager of your local rivals, check. Sign players from way to much money, i.e Alex Iwobi, check, sell your best players too teams in and around you, check. They are being run poorly. I can’t see Anwar changing there fortunes unfortunately, he’s a player who needs confidence and where he is going is toxic, can’t see this working out.

He’ll be first choice here, Newcastle in danger of relegation and are shit, Chelsea he’s be back up, West Ham unknown where he’d be in pecking order but maybe he wants to commute from the North West.

I am surprised though as he is best friends with Fredrick Guilbert and I don’t think we’ve treated him that well in his time here.

It's his fifth yellow in the opening 19 games - a one match suspension.

Said he’d miss the game against Man U, Is this the cup game or the league game against United?

Villa posting the 2015 FA cup semi has to be a hint.  There's no other reason to reference it today.

They are just admin mate they know nothing but probably just trying to get fans like you excited with little potential clues. On a different note what number do you think he would want? With a signing like him he would demand what he wanted right? So we’d need to free up 10 or maybe he would want 14 which he is at Barca and is free because Conor is gone.

    harsh IMO

thought it was his most complete performance in a villa shirt. we'll never know what would've happened if he hadn't been taken out

I do. We would of been relegated.

Leaves us a bit light for cover up front . Incoming?

Not really. The days of needing 4 strikers has gone. You buy players that can play across the front in most systems now.

Abdou Harroui doesn't really make sense as a target for me. He turns 24 in January so he's not a young prospect and I can't imagine he's someone who'll improve our current starting 11.

We already have numbers in midfield, what we could do with is a top quality midfielder who's a clear improvement or offers something different to the ones we have. Can't see this guy being that player.

Well that doesn’t make any sense because Jesse Lingard is nearly 29!
