Looked like it should have stood to me - shoulder more than arm.

I think Konsa had a shout from Reina who then got blocked off - I'd prefer to see the defender take responsibility and if the keeper wants to knock him over then fair enough.

So a foul not given, a goal disallowed for handball that wasn't and a calamity of defensive responsibility.

    Standard Villa. Standard VAR.

Think it helps they had a picture of there kit up because it hit the bottom of the blue strip and if you look it goes down the top of the arm. Could be a blessing but if we defend like that it’s only a matter of time before they score anyway.

I still don't really know why we didn't keep Chester. Would rather have him playing now instead of Hause.

Really? Chester was class in the championship 2 years ago; he then had a serious injury which he played through the pain barrier because of our inept manager at the time not buying any defenders, he’s also not the tallest or best in air. He’s a legend yes but not the answer at all. Hause after a dodgey start is actually turning in to a decent player, he wins everything in the air in both boxes, granted he doesn’t do much but he still wins it. He’s probably been along side Luiz the only player to have any kind of credit since project shitty restart.

One slight positive is that wages are under control this time (I hope anyway)

But yes recruitment needs to be a lot smarter and the youth system needs to be better utilised for providing squad filler rather than have the likes of Lansbury languishing on the bench on big wages.

Yeah and we let O’hare go who would of done a decent job in the Championship and been on a fraction of what Lansbury has been stealing off us the last few years.

  4. The difference has been a Pearson or Moyes with Premier League experience vs Smith with none and his poor decision making and inexperience. It’s cost us unfortunately. The board are to blame. The most stupid thing I’ve ever seen was to offer him a new contract 3 months into a first Premier League season when he hadn’t even started that well, he wasn’t going anywhere. Disappointed beyond belief.

    A draw doesn't change anything.

We still need to win twice to get past them whether they lose or draw.

Problem is it’s and extra point and with our goal difference it’s practically 2 points

Wham are safe, few weeks ago some were claiming Newcastle could be brought into the mix. Norwich, Villa and Bournemouth to go down, Watford score goals and we don’t.

We don’t get given penalties like that happens to Jack every game .

  7. Going to plan at moment. Want West Ham to pull clear and be in form to beat Watford next and then on the beach by the final day. Watford obviously to lose hopefully by a few more goals and then that just leaves us to do our thing to tomorrow and WIN

Agree, we quite simply have to beat Palace regardless of what happens elsewhere

I don’t mean to sound patronising but I think this is kinda stating the obvious.

Supporting Villa has always been an up and down thing.

We're just in an unusually long downer at the moment, promotion last year aside.

However I am sure the good times are around the corner. I have faith in the current owners and I am sure if we can somehow stay up they will go big again, and if we are relegated they will get us back quickly to go again.

I often wonder whats the point in supporting a team who just have it all, isn't it like cheating at a computer game? Just instant gratification but false?

Then you look at the tens of thousands who support lower or non league teams who will never ever get the chance to see their team properly competing at the highest level, whose idea of good times is to maybe beat a Premier league reserve side in an FA Cup tie. I have so much more admiration for those people than the hoards of plastic Mancs.

Even saying our down has been lengthy, I was 24 before I saw Villa play at Wembley. My 17 year old son has been there what? 6 or 7 times already.

And when we are there boy are we there.

Up and down I think is an understatement, we are the bi polar team of football. The problem is it was devastating when we got relegated and played the worst ever season then we all thought we’re a big club we will come straight back up, the championship Is unforgiving it doesn’t care if your a self proclaimed big club or a small club promoted from league 1. We all thought that after finally having the promotion and in the best possible way the feel good factor was back, we was back where we belonged, but it’s all just gone as the Aston Villa script is always written, which we know is constant disappointment, any hope you muster up in the days leading up to the game Is nearly almost diminished within the first 10 minutes and the same old villa play. I’m convinced we could buy this season’s Liverpool squad and still be bad next season. It’s the Villa way.

his twattish actions and attitude during lockdown and his appalling performances post lock down,  coupled with the emergence of Foden, consistent performamces of Mount, Madison even Barkely might mean he never makes his England debut. He won't get in on the wings either with rashford, sancho, greenwood and sterling getting picked tere

Getting pissed up with McCormack might **** up his career. He's a **** clown

It’s no wonder they call our fan base fickle now is it?

The likelihood is that we’ll essentially be 5pts behind by next weekend, goal difference will be worth a point to Watford. However, it’s not a forgone conclusion that Watford will beat Norwich. And not a foregone conclusion that we’re doomed if that scenario comes to fruition by next weekend.

I guess tonight will define our season, which is in itself a very sad state of affairs.

I always thought West Ham would click at some point to be quite honest as they have too much quality in their squad compared to other teams down there. Disappointed in Chelsea however last night.

Weirdly it may be our only way out however as if West Ham go on a run and pull well clear prior to meeting us and beating Watford & Norwich in the process it could provide us with a glimmer of a route out....IF we can get some points that is, which is the bit that worries me as we appear devoid of the ability to win a game of football.

Obvious loss incoming on Sunday and against Man U, though if by some miracle we are only a point or two adrift by the time those two losses are out of the way then we have a slim chance.

Ironically our season rests in Norwich's hands now..... GREAT!

Our season rests in our own hands. Win 6 games we stay up. That’s the aim. I’m certainly not relying on Norwich to save us. Yes we have Liverpool and Man U but I think people forget we ran them both mighty close in our games against them this season. Let’s stop worrying about what Norwich, West Ham or Watford are doing and start concentrating on picking up points.
