As an aside, by the way, all of this "bad blood" is a shame. I've always quite liked Norwich and they're not really an offensive club (unlike, for example, Sunderland and West Ham who I actively want to be relegated).
I'm just hoping that the persuit of Wes is over if Norwich don't want to sell. There's only a week left and we really do need a creative midfielder so let's just look elsewhere and leave him with them.

Clark is better then Lescott.
Clark could potentially become better than Lescott.
You're both wrong.
That is why Lescott is on £100k+ a week at the wealthiest club in the league and why Clark is at Aston Villa.
Are you psychic? ITK?
-
I haven't said you're being unreasonable. It's whatever is in Norwich City's interest - I'm concerned about Aston Villa. I'm just quite surprised that they won't want to move a player on that;
a) Doesn't play regularly
b ) Wants to leave
and
c) Is 31 years old with not much time left on his contract
If Norwich want to keep an unhappy player, by all means go for it guys.

This isn't very likely if we're being honest. It's fair to assume that Lescott earns 6 figures a week, which is way, way beyond our wage budget, even if cut in half.
It's also mental to think that Joleon **** Lescott could be on 6 figures a week.

Yet we are supposedly showing being pathetic or showing a small club mentality by refusing to sell you a first team (regularish) player at a knock down price? Can you not see the irony in those claims? Our manager is still on thin ice with our fans at the moment. Selling one of our most popular (and importantly an attacking player with a bit of creativity) players to Lambert for a pittance would be appalling PR for him and its therefore massively naive for anyone your end to think that this approach would ever going to be successful unless you were offering very good money.
I agree with a lot your post on principal, but Hoolahan has played 9 games this season - 4 of which have been substitute appearances. I don't know how this fits in with being a "first team player" but I'd assume you won't be getting a transfer fee for him after this window (31 year old, not playing regularly, lack of time on his contract).
What are Norwich honestly holding out for? You'd almost be better selling him for £750k given the lack of impact he's having on your season.
-
I have no problem with Norwich not wanting to sell to what they see as a direct rival. If they don't want to let go of a player who wants to go then that's their lookout. I couldn't give a monkeys what happens to them and am only concerned with Aston Villa.
If they want to be difficult, we just look elsewhere.

I wonder which striker we'll be signing from Wigan in January 2019?

I have never heard anyone claim Benteke costs £8m?? No-one knows for sure but £7m is the figure generally used

Apparently PF is travelling somewhere, hopefully its Spain to sign up Dongou, looked absolute quality in the NextGen Series last year, joint top-scorer alongside Drennan??
Loan Drennan to Carlisle, bring in Dongou to replace him... plan.
-
Being as people want some excitement I may as well continue, it beats the doom and gloom anyway. Here is Graham Hunter's view on Dongou (the Spanish football journo):
“I’m not going to say he’ll be better than Messi, but he made far more of an impact on me than Messi did as a 16-year-old. He’s a completely different player, a striker whose physical shape is going to be a little bit like Romario, but his attitude and work ethic is going to be a little bit like Eto’o. If you get a laboratory and put those two players together, you’d probably take the product"

By the "utterly shit part", I mean in terms of transfer dealings and the infamous budget. I'm only speculating, but it looks as if we've shifted the expensive stuff which (in theory in theory in theory) means that we'll be able to add more quality now. I'm thinking it'll happen in the summer and, as BJ says, Hoolahan would be a decent short term signing for this period.
Not really short term if we are signing him, not loaning him.
A 31 year old. If we give him a Shay Given contract I'll cry but, other than that, can't see it being anywhere beyond 3 years. Max.

Exactly this. Decent short term signing in a position we've got nothing going for us. Same as Bertrand on loan, same as Holt on loan. For a January window with not much cash (supposedly), these are all decent short term signings.
I've always thought this was the way we're going, though;
a) Sack off high earners
Replace almost entire squad with cheap, sustainable squad
c) Add cheap quality into squad where it's lacking
d) Inject more expensive quality into self-sufficient club
It's a long term project, which most people (I think?) have accepted and it looks as if we're slowly shifting away from the utterly shit part of it.

Even the United match we were in it early on - but then conceeded and collapsed.
There's been an interesting transition in Villa from generally conceeding late on and losing points to, now, generally conceeding first and having to fight back. Anyone else noticed this or am I completely wrong?
-
We're quite obviously improving.
People are just being negative for the sake of being negative. Sometimes I think it's just to save face. If they're negative and we turn out to do crap, they "win". If they're negative about stuff that may/may not happen in the future they "can't be wrong".
That said, I have no idea why you wouldn't want to look at the positives when supporting a team - it baffles me.

He was signed as a wide forward apparently. Hes not physical enough for Premier League. But Tonev is? I can name another 10 players that arent as physical as Helenius.
I can understand in a forward position.. he may not have the strength to hold up the ball but that wasnt why he was signed.
ITK?
Lambert seems to be talking about him as competition for/with Benteke/Holt/Agbonlahor which suggests he sees him as a striker.
-
what a finish by Ajose.
Looks like an "A" grade word removed with that shit celebration and constantly doing the finger to lips thing too.
-
Seriously pathetic from Norwich this, the bloke isn't starting games for them, and rarely gets off the bench either
from looking at the Norwich forums they seem to rate him and dislike Houghton for not playing him
Houghton hasn't been great, but following Lambert was always gonna be an incredibly hard challenge. Back to back promotions and entertaining high scoring football is hard for a defensive minded coach to follow, so they probably dislike him for more reasons than just Hoolahan.
Have I missed some sort of in-joke where we all call Hughton "Houghton" instead?
I think this transfer will happen. It's all the usual bollocks r.e: transfer requests being turned down = inevitable transfer

I know as of November, Guzan had he most successful high claims of all GKs in Europe's top leagues with 37. That's quite alot for a GK who doesn't come for crosses.
Claimed the most "crosses" last season in the Premier League by over 30 odd. Immense.

Or, perhaps, he sees people posting all this crap about "just say it already!" and people like Pilchard just waiting for a fall and thinks....
..."y'know what? **** that".
And now he is not allowed to post anymore on here.
What? :/

Most of the things BJ says are pointless

Seriously, what makes people think he's any good??

Disagree, personally.
He was seen as a stalwart of our midfield but he simply did nothing. Dallied on the ball too often, was often robbed of the ball in a more defensive midfield position meaning attacks were straight onto us. Experienced head, nice guy but overrated (again, in my opinion).

Demichelis for the Cardiff second was amazingly poor. How on earth he keeps Lescott out of the team...
