yes, for me, clear dive. not even a debate. and it's unsurprising that the media don't call this shit out.
But it's not a dive, is it? He's deliberately left his leg there but he hasn't dived.
It's not a foul for me, mind.

those sorts of things was exactly why it was brought in. clear and obvious error which it fails to overturn. ridiculous
The guys on 5 Live were completely split on whether it was a penalty or not. Clear and obvious?

Or for this to just stay as it is. For all their huffing and puffing Blues don't actually look like scoring.
I'm only listening on the radio, but sounds like they've missed 3 sitters.

No they are not. They are a team that happens to play in the same city.
Currently that's that. They have no relevance to villa and definitely are not rivals.
You can lie to yourself if you want.
There's a whole host of excitement on this thread because "the team with no relevance" might be getting relegated.

Not sure where you all live, I'm East Birmingham, Castle Brom, the whole area is mixed between villa and sha, went to school with loads of sha and villa fans and once the games over mates are mates. Half of em knocked the shit out of each other on Saturday afternoon and had a beer together Sunday, these weren't casual fans , they was head boys in both firms.
**** ridiculous.
I have a fair few mates who are Blues fans. They're great lads, we (used to) watch games together there's no problem at all. I'd absolutely want Blues to go down - it's not "good for the city of Birmingham" that they don't. They're our rivals and them being shit is excellent.

...and now Everton are given a penalty for an incident that happens in most games and goes unpunished.
(I think it should be a pen, but the consistency is crazy).

I wouldn't say that goal was particularly his fault, but like a lot of the discussion around Olsen it does highlight one of his deficiencies, in this case the poor starting positions he takes up. Or maybe they're not poor because we're so used to Emi, but it can't be a coincidence we concede so much when he's on the pitch. Everything he does looks panicked and reactive.
One theory I have is that he, like most current keepers is from an era where keepers didn't need to be so proactive. Our entire platform as a team is built upon this pillar, and if it's even a little bit shaky, we crumble. Before keepers just needed to be solid at their various duties, as and when it's required of them (like Olsen generally is). The ones who were proactive stood out from the pack (ex: Neuer), and as the game evolved more keepers started to play this way. Emi made the transition beautifully, Olsen just doesn't seem to be able to. Limited game time doesn't help of course, but his weaknesses stick out like a sore thumb in Emery's team.
I don't think that's an era thing (he's only 4 years older than Martinez), but it's definitely not something he's been asked to do in his career so I do understand where you're coming from. As I've said before, the drop off is huge.

Should be a penalty to Everton.
"Yeah, it's one of those where there's contact but the ref hasn't given it so VAR isn't going to overturn it. If the ref had given a penalty, then VAR wouldn't have overturned him then either."
Absolute classic.

He just charged out with no conviction, giving the striker the opening to finish under him. Kind of like Raya for Watkins' goal at the Emirates. Just made up his mind for him.
I think that's a bit harsh. The defence has completely bailed leaving a striker 1-on-1. Olsen comes out to try and get the striker to act quickly rather than giving him time, but he manages to get a header across the box and finish smartly.

We might be supporting Israel with military assistance and political cover, but it shouldn’t influence your vote or cause you to protest.
Just vote for more of the same and then wish really really hard for something nice.
Fair. Although, in this instance, a protest vote enables more of the same.
Lose/lose or something.

Voter do, Brexit and the Tories an prime example. Tbh when children are being murdered in a war then the local transport system seems irrelevant.
I'm sure if we had a vote on whether to provide arms to Israel then the result would be conclusive. We don't though , the first chance to show voters horror at our governments actions, with main stream parties sitting on the fence, is to vote for an independent, I would have given the chance.
Yeah, I just don’t understand that thinking tbh.
At a General Election, sure. It shows the unhappiness. When voting for your mayor? Odd.

I think it's a valid way to show the politicians their views, how else can they?
I guess my point is more what people are voting on. I understand that, largely, people don't give a shit and will just follow whatever they deem to be appropriate for the country - but it seems a bit daft in a mayoral campaign.
"Why are you running for mayor?"
"Because we must end the war in Gaza!" -

The rumours are that Street is going to hold the west midlands mayor vote, though result not due until tomorrow. That will probably avoid an utter tory meltdown and they will limp on until October.
A lot of votes going to an independant candidate due to pro-Gaza views.
It's fair enough... but does that really matter for a WM mayor?

What do Spurs fans want? They've went the world class manager route and it failed miserably, they even sacked one of them just before a cup final
And now they've went with Ange, who got off to a good start, but looks like the wheels are coming off. Are they going to sack Ange and restart again next season, falling behind as probably Us, Newcastle, Chelsea etc push on.
They're 5th.
This manager sacking talk is insane.

That Bailey one was right in front of me and didn’t look a penalty in any way shape or form to be honest. I didn’t even appeal it.
Could be wrong, I haven’t seen replays. But didn’t look a pen to me
It was a real weird one. The defender wins the ball to poke it away but then seemed to make a second movement with his leg across Bailey which sent them both flying.
Should've been a penalty IMO.

Emi Martinez disagrees with you.

I’m not a goalkeeper, but I don’t see how he was that bad for the second goal? First seemed worse if anything.
-
The drop off is huge but he won’t be here next season.

This thread has been bad, getting down on a player who has performed well and showed loyalty to the club as embarrassing and a bottler
Fickle altitude yet some would be mocking Spurs or Newcastle fans for doing the same
Yeah, our reactions are pretty OTT sometimes.
He had a huge off night, though.
