  1. Surely Corsie new contract suggests we've got a manager lined up for next season as wouldn't make sense to give her a contract and then appoint someone who might not want her

If so suggests to me someone who has already worked with Corsie, as wouldn't really be an obvious choice to give her another year, I had kind of taken it for granted she would be leaving

First name that comes to mind is Remi Allen, she's played with Amy Rodriguez who is now a manager, and Laura Harvey was her manager at Utah Royals, I think that would be a coup for us, so not sure if realistic, although Tom Garry who is realiable said the job would attract high level candidates, there's also Carla Ward herself of course, but am presuming she' hasn't had a change of mind

  2. Manager Carla Ward said: “Rachel is someone I’d previously worked with before her arrival at Aston Villa, and she has become a prominent figure within the playing squad ever since she joined us a couple of seasons ago. Her experience and leadership has played a hugely important part in our success in recent years and that will remain invaluable in 2024/25.”

Seems strange to have a quote like that from a departing manager

  3. Summerville hasn't really impressed me whenever I've seen him play, just runs at defenders with pace and doesn't seem to have an whole lot else to his game. I've genuinely been more impressed by Philogene, who I think looks much more of an all round player.

To sell Philogene for £5m and buy Summerville for £30m would seem crazy to me, especailly when we were meant to have a buyback for Philogene, not that they would actually get £30m, no one will play that

if we gone spend big money on Championship winger then Jonathan Rowe would be way to go

  4. I think Postecoglou has done a good job overall, at the start of the season I don't think anyone was expecting them to challenge top four, in fact many were saying they would drop into midtable, and even that it was the begin of the end of Spurs as one of the 'top six'.

But also some of his comments just seem like excuses, he speaks of 'fragile foundations', he only notices and speaks of them now they've lot a few games to teams expected to beat them anyway, if Gerrard had said something like that as our manager there would be a riot on here, with people saying he's throwing the team under the bus

If he's referring to some of their fans wanting them to lose to deny Arsenal the title, then that shouldn't really affect them, and if he's saying it did I don't think that that's a good thing for a manager to say, as it's kind of suggesting his team has a weak mentality

Losing yesterday to Manchester City didn't cost them top four, it was taking just one point from Wolves, Fulham, and West Ham before their difficult run, knowing they had that difficult run to come

Also I watched one of his press conferences recently and some of the questions were really irritating, so I can't blame him for getting angry, and then that gets taken out of context

  5. Leat is out of contract at the end of the season, so unless we're going to give her the No.1 Spot then I think her leaving was always a strong possibility, I personally think she's a very good goalkeeper, I think her stats bear that out too, we've been very lucky to have had a second choice that good, wouldn't complain if she did stay on as No.1, but if club wants someone more high profile or proven as first choice, the wouldn't blame her for leaving for more game time, or the club for that matter if they think they can get someone better

I don't know anything about Sabrina D’Angelo but Arsenal fans seem gutted she's leaving

We might need two goalkeepers, depending on whether we think Poor is ready to be No.2, presuming Poor signs professional terms with us,

  6. My objective if we were in Spurs position would be to win a trophy, which they and we would have a better chance of doing by being in the Europa League, Spurs position taking that over Champions League really isn't a big deal, and it's much much less worse than people saying they would take Champions League over winning a trophy

  7. Not being bothered about not entering a compeition - because that's all it is,  to stop a rival from winning the tile, really isn't a big deal, especially when you've entered that competition many times before as is the case with Spurs. If it was us winning a competition, even just the League Cup, then of course I would take that no matter what. Many people on here said they would rather take Champoions League than win Conference League, which is actually way worse than what I've said, that's denying us a trophy

  8. But my point is in Spurs position, which is what I said in the first place, if Villa were in Spurs position - by which I mean not just in the league table, but having been in the Champions League on a number of occassions already and got nowhere, and being desperate to win a trophy, then qualifying for Europa can be seen as better for them for the simple fact it gives them a better a chance of actually winning a trophy, again you can take the stopping their rivals aspect out of it, that doesn't really matter

  9. That's just dumb I never said clubs seek Champions League for the newness of it, Spurs have been in the Champions League many times before, so it's less of a novelty to them than us who have never been in it, it's current format, can gaurantee if we'd have been in the Champions League seven or eight times in previous seasons and were an established top six team, we would be much less bothered about missing out on top four than we would be if we missed out on top four this season

Also the examples of Manchester City, Bayern Munich don't make sense either, as my whole point was Spurs are desperate to win a trophy and have a better chance of that by being in the Europa League, Manchester City, Barcelona, Bayern Munich don't have to worry about because they winning trophies most seasons

  10. 1. : something new or unusual. the novelty of a self-driving car. 2. : the quality or state of being novel : newness.

It's new to us, it isn't new to Spurs

  11. Also my post has perfectly sound logic, you could even take out the rival aspect and it still makes perfect sense. Spurs have been in Champions League many times before and it's got them nowhere in terms of winning an actual trophy, they have a better chance of doing that by being in the Europa League next season. And also I said if we were in Spurs position, which is different to our current positoin

  12. If we were in Spurs position I'd rather finish fifth than allow smell unhealth allheinous to win the league, Spurs have been in Champions League many times before so not a novelty to them, they're desperate to win a trophy and probably have a better chance of doing so next season by being in Europa League, to be honest there was part of me that thought we would be better of in Europa for the simple fact we would have a better chance of winning that and we too are in desperate need of winning an acctual trophy, which is the whole point of entering the compeitions we do at the start of every season, but for our position Champions League the better option

  13. Kirsty Hanson named players' player of the year, and Rachel Daly supporters' player of the year

No young player of the year been announced, I thought they might have given it to Poor or McLoughlin, I hope that that they haven't given it to Poor isn't an ominous sign for her Villa future, losing her now would be a more worrying indication for our future than losing any other player, although I don't think the mens' team have announced their young player of the season either.

Danielle Turner got goal of the seaon for goal against Manchester City

  14. Ruby Mace, Katie Robinson, and Poppy Pattinson all out of contract in the summer, all would be good signings for us, similar profile to the Salmon and Parker signings last summer. If Melanie Phillips is appointed as our manager, which is probably a possibility as would be a surprise if she isn't on the list, then maybe that would give us a better chance of Robinson and Pattinson

  15. That's been greeted as good news by Villa fans, but I was hoping that her signing a professional contract would have already been pre-agreed when she joined the club last summer. Have been slightly concerned that Arsenal might try and take her alongside van Domselaar
