  1. Every managerial appointment is a gamble to some degree.

We've done the experienced proven manager in Bruce and Houllier, the "fans choice" in Lambert, the up-and-coming Englishman in Sherwood, the foreigner with a track record in Garde and the proven failure in McLeish. And they've all failed.

So we're about due to try the unproven foreign manager.

I'd probably choose Rogers myself, but I love the idea of Henry at the club. Sure it might not work, but what's new? It's an exciting appointment, I'm pretty sure it would excite the players too, and I hope it happens. Henry talks a very good game, if he can get the players on the same wavelength then things will be looking pretty good at Villa Park.

  2. Mental how many pundits can't grasp that just maybe Bruce isn't a magic promotion pass after all, and that he's done his best and failed.

Oh wait, we chased him out cos he's ex-Birmingham ?

  3. I think Rogers would be a great appointment. Henry potentially great, but much more of a risk.

Allardyce would have been the perfect guy to follow MON, but not what we need now.

But with the right coaches, the cabbage might work.

I've seen the "steadied the ship" comments again in the last few pages.. For me the ship is in exactly the same place as it was this time 2 years ago.

Yeah but at least he stopped it sinking. Kinda stuck on a reef now though. Time for a new captain. And a new analogy.

I'll say this for him. He cares.

Tonight's interview wasn't that weird "it's my fault and now I'm sad, does everyone still love me" thing that Sherwood did a couple of times, this was a man who looked to me genuinely upset by what had happened; really shaken.

He's clearly got some drive, some pride not to leave here in this way, but you have to look at him and wonder on the effect this is having in his health, and think that with the money he has, the security he has and the lifestyle that can afford him, does he want another month of this?

For sure. People slating him for only hanging around for the money are way off the mark. This is the biggest job he'll ever have, and he desperately wanted to make a success of it. I have no doubt he's given absolutely everything, but unfortunately he's fallen short. Such is life.

Still makes it annoying that a country like ours has never held a major tournament since 96, a country with our facilities transport etc should havw had the world cup.

I think should we bid for next world cup we would win as the major countries have all had world cups since us.

The only thing that matter is how full of cash the brown paper bag is. Facilities and fairness do not come into it one bit!

For me, Houllier was the worst. He was the one who took what was still basically a top 6 squad and steered us towards the relegation zone.

This. Tried to completely change a very good side overnight that just needed tweaking. Awful appointment in every way.

  8. Sony getting in on the act, Playstation Classic on the way...

It’ll be out on December 3 in the US and Canada, and includes games like Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms. There’ll be 20 bundled titles in total, but those five are the only ones announced at the moment.

Annoyingly, like the SNES Classic, the PlayStation Classic won’t include an AC adaptor, with the only power option being a bundled USB cable.

The PlayStation Classic will include two original PS1 controllers and a HDMI cable, and cost US$99.99 (€99.99 in Europe).

I agree, McGrath was miles better than Anderson in all conditions. An arsehole but a genuine great.

Miles better in all conditions? Exaggeration much?

Overall McGrath the better bowler, but both superb, and two of the most accurate bowlers of all time. I think Jimmy's control of the swinging ball is as good as anyone, I'd say he's better than McGrath in this respect.
