If anything Olsson fouls Herd first by bringing his arm across him and dragging him down, then his body was holding on to him. Yet, he somehow claims Herd kicked him. What a total word removed.
-
Olsson speaking like a real chickenshit, claiming Herd kicked him. Despite the fact he originally fouled him.

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish on Chris Herd's controversial red card in his side's defeat by West Brom: "The sending-off cost us severely - no doubt about it. The kid had started the game really well and we were looking good at that point. In the pictures I have seen it looked as if Chris was extricating his foot from Jonas Olsson's grasp and Olsson didn't react to it. If you'd been stamped on, you'd expect the player to complain."
-
West Brom boss Roy Hodgson on Aston Villa defender Chris Herd's controversial sending-off: "It was a kick - he stamped on him. The referee saw him and sent him off. You could say it had a major influence but I thought we were controlling the game at that point and went a goal down agains the run of play. I think with the quality of our football we could have beaten an 11-man Aston Villa today."
**** off Woy.

Anyone who doesn't think Mcleish should take some blame today is living in that famous Egyptian river.
Not the first time this season we haven't achieved a single shot on goal which is beyond shocking and beyond acceptable.
Would we have won the match if herd hasn't been sent off? Maybe
Are we a shit football team? Definitely.
Yet we had 3 off target, scored a penalty before the red card. The entire second half was spent defending. Jeez, it's really quite boring now. We were controlling the game. West Brom were awful for large parts of the game. I maintain we would have won had it not been for the sending off.

I can't understand with confidence how Caan can flag that call when his view is obscured by Olsson's body. Herd is simply trying to get away from a tangle, no contact, no malice. Could Dowd have overruled at this point? Or he's simply going on the instruction of the assistant which is clearly wrong.
-
Ref will get the blame because it's convenient and will detract from how shiit we were. Did we have an in-play shot on goal in the whole match? Bringing Heskey on is a PROVEN pointless exercise. Taking Bannan off again when he looked our brightest player (not saying much I know and he wasn't at his best today either) was poor from Mcleish.
Heskey was brought on to sit in the middle of the park and hold the ball up as we were being over ran in the middle thanks to the red card. We were cruising at 1-0 before the red card. It changed the entire complexion of the game. You can quote all the stats you want, it made a huge impact.
It was never a stamp either, just a mere tangle of legs. The linesman waits a few seconds to flag after the 'contact'.

3 off target lets not forget.
-
Yes the sending off changed the game etc... which I agree with.
However 0 attempts on target isn't good enough regardless of the sending off.. that was also WBA's first win in 32 years at VP.
3 off target including a Bent sitter. Stats don't tell the whole story.

Darren Caan and Phil Dowd are a disgrace.
-
West Brom don't deserve to win this at all.
-
No shots on target... hmm can't say i'm shocked.
2nd defeat..
Tends to happen when your playing for 55 minutes with 10 men.
-
No passion from the players..even with 1 man down they should taking risks going forward..but no...so depressing to watch
Called tiredness.
-
We'd have won this with 11 men I guarantee it. West Brom have been shocking last 10 minutes.
-
Heskey in centre midfield..dear oh dear..
Well we are down to 10 men. Who else is going to play there? Heskey is on to hold up the play which he's doing well.
-
Heskey has done well. I find it bizarre how people can consistently blame McLeish for decisions out of his control.
-
Good game little Barry.
-
The depressing thing is Stephen Reid was having a nightmare when we were full strength. Now we can barely attack.
-
The red has taken the wind out of our sails. McCliesh did the right thing and got Hutton and N'Zogbia off.
-
How awful is Dowd? Not even a yellow there. Bad for both sides.
-
It was always going to hard playing with 10 men.
-
We barely looked troubled at the back till the red card, not defending our lack of defence though.
-
Cuellar at fault.
-
Terrible defending.

Terribly inconsistent for both sides today. I've never rated him, a referee who seems more interested at being the centre of attention. However, the assistant is far more to blame.
