  1. Watched adventureland last night on sky anytime, not going to win any oscars but a nice easy little film and quite a cool soundtrack for those who like a little reliving of the eighties

  2. I can guess the BP they were at when they said they were in Shirley (the one by the driving test centre and Sainsburys), because that's also on the Stratford Road. But I can't be sure.

    It was that garage

  3. It was Chindie, I've watched 39 of the 50 now so will likely watch the other 11.

I have seen 4 of those 50 films, which is poor by any standards, I think its time to join blockbuster

  4. New season of Mad Men starts this weekend in the USA... no idea when UK TV will pick it up.

I love Mad men and cannot wait for the new series.

The usual way is at the UK showing will start in Jan 11. It was the same on the last series (i.e. show in summer/fall of 09 in the US and start of the year 10 for UK)

Jez, what are your thoughts of Mad Men so far, I was hooked from the first episode

  5. Sounds a bit girly but took the little one to see toy story 3 the other day and really enjoyed it and would recommend it to all.

and I have seen my fair share of disney/pixar cartoon dross

  6. I think it is common practice for a club who would want a player off there books to cover part of his wages anyway, but why would anyone want back a player who went to such lengths to leave.

If your girlfriend told you she fancied other guys, looked at everything that walked past then went and left you to bang someone else, then after a year came back.........would you?

(shit analogy I know but it seemed right in my head)

  7. Mancini on the SSN this morning to say he's still interested in Milner and Balotelli and that they have a whole month to work on them but complained about the prices.

I would complain about the fact a smary clearing in the woods (mancini) is doing prospecting of players quite openly via the press, 12 and 24 mths ago another smarmy clearing in the woods (benitez) was doing the same and still no one puts a stop to it. when our ex smarmy clearing in the woods (o'leary) got done for the same thing.

Only it isn't the same thing.

Benitez and Manchini has said they are interested in the players, O'Leary said Beattie wanted to join us which proved he had spoken to him or his agent without permission to do so. A small but very important difference.

    Fair point

But on topic, I am not overly concerned about Milner, good player that he is (would be a shame if he left) but it happened with Barry and many players beforehand they all move on and they all get replaced. Shit happens

  9. Its the sacrifice you make to have kids. You become rewarded in many other ways but have to accept that a large part of your life will change. For me it was a simple question, where else are we here if not to give life. I get to watch my son grown a little more every day, ill get to teach him and help him develop into a young man hopefully sharing many experiences along the way. There has to be a bit more to life than simply working 9-5 crashing down in front of the telly a few holidays and waiting to retire. Thats my take on it anyway

That is why i cant wait to be a father in 8 weeks time, well said CV.

Having a child is a massive sacrifice, but as said above, is more than compensated by the happiness a kid can bring. Its no cakewalk, but well worth it in my experience. I'm actually finding the older my daughter gets, the more i'm loving it. Thats not to say i didn't enjoy being a dad when she was a baby (she's 3 now), i did, but as she's growing the interaction and understanding between me and her is getting better. I guess there's more of a bond between mother and baby at that stage.

I can 100% say that i wouldn't have my life any other way.

Exactly the same with me. My daughter is 4 in a months time and it becomes more enjoyable with each new phase of progression.

I must admit though other peoples kids bore the crap out of me so I can understand the other perspective.

  10. The favoritism is acutely irritating and it sometimes seems to me that MON is prepared to sacrifice a result, due to the belief that his methods are correct.

I agree that this is very annoying and I feel that it can also be of a detriment to the 'squad' as they possibly will get the feeling that it does not matter what they do they will never break through which surely cannot be a good thing

He deserves to manage next season no doubt, by the stats and points improvement alone, but it will be a make or break season for O'Neill.

Do not agree though with this as his improvement year on year gives much more than a "make or break next season" and for years now I have been crying out for managerial stability I would be gutted to see this be thrown out of the window if next season is a slight drop on this/previous seasons.

Apart from this I agree with the majority of BOF's post.

  11. Probably says more about me than the show, but after 7 episodes I still only know one character's name and even that's a nickname. Every time they announce "[ insert name ] is dead" I think "who?".

But the 'splashing' of stones into the scalped Japanese head was one of the laugh-out-loud disgustingly funny things I'd seen in a while

Thats the thing for me, in Band Of Brothers you felt you knew them before they even got to france. Pacific is a lot more distant and I don't really know them as it went pretty much straight into the action and they are all the same.

But I am only on episode 3 so hope I will grow to love as I love WWII films/programmes
