I coach an U9 (U10 next season)
They play 7v7 at the moment and for me the biggest issue is the lack of refs.
There are 3 or 4 clubs local to us that have 5 different teams for each age group, because these clubs make a decent amount of money from the 40+ kids they have on the books at each age level they seem to have an agreement with the F.A so every week they get appointed a ref.
For context my lads played 24 games this season, we were appointed a ref only twice, no suprise they were when we played teams that are in the pocket of the F.A.
The majority of the time we are scraping round to try and get someone to referee a game, if we dont get one then its luck of the draw if you get an opposing manager who is prepared to ref half the game.... and is fair.
We played a team where their manager said they had a ref which turned out to be one of their coaches and it was the most corrupt match I have ever seen. Granted we have to fill out an online form after the game where you score the performance of the ref, opposition etc, but nothing comes of it.
Grassroots football is an absolute mess, the way funding is proportioned is a joke. I know of one team that got £5k for fitting an outside tap at their ground!
My team are F.A accredited and get absolutely minimal funding.

Sorry all, if we lose this one it's on me.
Dog cost me a fortune in vets fees this week.
Boiler packed up yesterday and needs replacing.
Villa 2-0 up against utd at home....
It comes in threes they say.

Do you think Danks reads VT?
I was going to say I doubt it because he is a blue nose, but we all know their level of obsession

He coaches the u12 team for the club my son plays for.

What concerns me most with the potential appointment of Gerrard is that during his time at Rangers, he has never had a "bad run of form" or a string of results go against him.
Granted he won the league and I hate to take away the merit from that but it is a two team league and Celtic absolutely shit the bed last year.
How will he cope when things don't go his way? Because at Villa he will definitely have a run of games where we struggle.
Also there is absolutely no point to this appointment if he doesnt bring Michael Beale along.

Seeing some of the mental suggestions here is baffling.
Zidane for me........

Failed his medical at Brugge allegedly.
Brugge still have the option to take the risk with him though.

Wise beyond her years.
Way more rational than I am.
As soon as it is confirmed I am taking booing lessons, for the game at Villa Park I want to make sure I have the right tone and pitch to my booing so Jack really feels it.

My 10 year old daughter absolutely idolises Jack, she even has a signed luke away shirt on her bedroom wall.
Having broke the news of Jack possibly leaving us last week she was devastated.
This morning I have told her it looks like today is the day
Her response "meh, you're either Villa or you're not"
She said she will take his shirt off the wall when it has been confirmed.

OK. Having watched the match back on the extended match choice highlights on Sky, this result was a travesty.
We absolutely murdered them, a more one sided match it would be hard to see.
We absolutely gifted them 2 goals and they virtually had nothing else. We could and should have scored 5 or 6 and on another day we would have.
We were the better team by a country mile.
I agree,
Factor in that 5 players were making their home debut against a team that bar a couple have played together for the past few seasons .
I saw enough today to believe we will be fine this season

Ah but it is. I can't name a Villa player worse than him today. Not one. Grealish was shit.
So now it has changed from worst player on the pitch (which was Billing btw), to worst villa player.
As others have mentioned, he created 6 chances today, got an assist in passing the ball to Luiz and on a other day could have had two goals.
The lad is still adjusting to the premier league.

Worst player on the pitch today by some distance. For some reason he's protected from criticism. When he gets praised endlessly for being good, he deserves to hear the other end of the scale when he's bad. Absolute dog shit today. Woeful possession losses and poor passing initially, then he faded and did sweet **** all for rest of the match. 100 k p/w looking like a championship player.
That's not true though and I think you know it.
He wasnt great by his standards but worst player on the pitch? Come on

I took my daughter down a few weeks ago
Got some good advice on here about times and also phoned the club.
Players have to be at the ground 4 hours before kick off and no later than 3 hours but that was for a 3pm kick off, no idea on the early kick offs.

He needs a song, preferably one from the early 80's to go along with Lip up fatty and our House, for Axel and Kortney.

Made it a bit harder than we needed to today but at times our football was excellent.
Massive thanks to everyone who gave advice on the best time to get to the ground to meet the players. My daughter got to meet Jack and has been on cloud 9 all day.

I’ve not been round that end for a while but recall it was always about 12:45 - 13:00 ?
You know they are inside the big fencey thing now ?
Yeah I have told her they are behind a fence but she doesn't care, even explained she might not meet Jack but an 8 year with her first crush doesn't care!
Thanks for the info

Does anyone know what time the players normally arrive at the ground?
I'm taking my daughter and she is desperate to meet Jack Grealish.

Sheff Utd have had their manager 3 years. We've had ours 3 months. Some of our fans need to cop on to themselves.
Or maybe our manager is a bit shit.
Playing the same formation that hasn't worked for nearly 3 months.
3-0 down at home and not making a sub till 70 minutes, and then bringing on a defensive midfielder.
Let's be honest, he just isn't up to the task.

He won't last the season.
Fraud of a manager

Agreed,
I have 1 parent who moans non stop, he has never been abusive to the refs but if his son gets fouled he demands for a booking, which never happens at this age group.
Some of the stuff I have heard is shocking and I coach kids!
There should be more in the way of sanctions to protect refs in grassroots football but ultimately I dont think the F.A care that much
