    You mean bought it.

What are you paying your players with?  Chocolate smiles and hopes and dreams?  Funnily enough we had a conversation about 5 years ago on here where you told me that Lerner was a proper owner who was properly investing the Academy where we were an Arab plaything who was going to get bored and walk away.  You were excited to be rich and hoping for lots of investment. Now we have a £300m Academy and you have an owner trying to sell up.

Ah so you agree you won the league because you spent more than anyone else. Good.

And we were never 'rich' even when Lerner was spending money.

Congratulations, your owner is richer than ours that is about what football boils down to these days. We all remember the joke of a club you were a few years ago.

They still are a joke of a club, just a very very rich one.

  2. Great window for them bastards. Need to add one more good defender and they'll be a serious threat for top 4.

the problem I see that will knacker up Liverpool next season is width, from who they have signed and the way you would expect them to shape up they will be way too narrow, a team with any quality out wide could really give them some trouble,

Plus they have got Rodgers in charge, the man is a fool.

Nocolas lombaerts failed medical at sunderland id take him must be something minor he failed on could be worth a punt

He's claiming thats a lie and that he wants to stay in Russia according to SSN

Bloody hell Sunderland must be an utter sh*t hole if you would rather stay in Russia than move.

  4. I agree about the occasion looking like it got to Conor, but with a full camp Mendes pulls a Fitch and wrestlef**ks him to exhaustion.

You mean pulls a Maia. Fitch lost that crown the day Maia out-Fitched Fitch. ;)

    [emoji2] thats very true. Lol
  5. Very good card.

McGregor is an interesting interim champion as said before, which is a change, both because he's a personality and a flawed fighter. A good wrestler or BJJ fighter will give him things to think about, as Mendes did.

Rory McDonald's nose took such a beating he'll probably look like a different bloke next time he enters the octagon.

Agreed. Mendes took him down almost at will. With a full training camp behind him that fight has a different finish for me, and im saying that as a huge fan of McGregor.

Big Club.  Feeding at the bottom rung if we are signing Norwich cast offs.

I agree.... why havent we tried to sign Buffon as our 3rd choice keeper.......everyone out!!!!!

He will be our 2nd choice to a keeper who Sherwood has had as a 2nd choice since he came in.  Obvs i'm assuming Given has gone.  We already have a 3rd choice in Steer.  So i dont see the point in taking him unless Guzan is going.

maybe Sherwood put Given in the sticks for the last few games on the basis that he wanted an experienced head at the back rather than he didnt rate Guzan?

Because if he genuinely saw Given as his number one, why let him go?

  8. Delph Wasn't due back till next week, but came back yesterday as wanted to get preseason started early and wanted to set an example as club captain.

im led to believe that he wasn't originally involved with the kit launch because the club never expected him to come back a week early. There is a possibility he may now be involved.

in my opinion I am 90% sure he is staying. (10% is because..well football / money and anything can happen)

  9. The only way that could look worse was if they shopped benteke's head onto a pic of Jordan Henderson,

to be fair with how lazy that piece of journalism is, I am suprised they even bothered to pick a black Liverpool player.

The midfielder is LOSC Thursday in Birmingham England to visit the facilities of Aston Villa and negotiate a transfer. LOSC and the English club have already agreed on the amount of compensation that should rise to 10 million.

It's not official yet but Idrissa Gueye is about to become a "Lion", that is to say a player Aston Villa (Premier League), one of two clubs in Birmingham. The Senegalese international visited yesterday the facilities of the 17th and first non-relegation last championship. He was impressed with Villa Park and seduced by the speech of Tim Sherwood, the manager of the Villans. Unless a turnaround, so it should join Aston Villa for the next four seasons. Aston Villa and LOSC have agreed since Wednesday on the modalities of the transfer with compensation of € 10 million for the repurchase of three years of player's contract. Jonathan Delaplace is also on departure. He will sign a contract today in Caen four years. The transfer is estimated at € 600,000.

These cash flow in addition to transfers of Kjaer (€ 9 million) and Diaby (€ 2.5m) serve a dual purpose.

They allow the LOSC to honor its commitments vis-à-vis the DNCG having sold at least € 15 million players to enter the last year. After purchases Bauthéac (€ 2 million) and Kanon (€ 500,000), the leaders have to buy an envelope full of young people for the future. Yesterday they officially arrived Sehrou Guirassy, an attacker of 19, from Laval (34 games last season, 7 goals). LOSC confirmed an agreement for the next four seasons. He paid € 1 million to delight the nugget to the nose and the beard of other clubs, including St. Stephen who did the forcing to the end in this case. Guirassy is currently in training camp with Benjamin Pavard for Euro U19, which starts Monday.

    Tim Sherwood seduced him?

[emoji14]uke: not sure how Sherwood lying naked across his desk with a rose up his arse helps....but I'll take it if it works.

Sherwood must of slowly unzipped his gilet

Tim slowly eased the zip down to his waist - the Macron men on his shoulders rippling as he slowly eased himself out of the gilet. There was a soft thump as the down stuffed utility garment fell to the floor.

Finally he spoke "There's something I need you to do Idrissa" gesturing towards the desk. Idrissa smiled. Finally, all his dreams were being realised. He looked in Tim's eyes, and then to the desk - the meaning unmistakeable. Tim placed his hand onto Idrissa's, both their hearts fluttered in excitement, Idrissa felt something firm against the palm oh his hand, the sweat made it difficult to grasp - he then felt the pressure against his arm, Tim pushed his hand downwards "This is it" Idrissa thought to himself. "Finally"

He felt the pressure against the tip the object in his hand - and with a flick of the wrist, it began.

    50 shades of Gilet.

    well it got me moist.

  11. Shaquiri what a signing why the hell havent we bid!! oh yeah thats right we are broke!

How do stoke always maage to pull big signings like that while we can just about a fford one 5m plAyer FFS

before asking why havent we bid, I want to know why Inter seem happy to get rid after a year. he didnt exactly do much at Bayern either (granted you have to be a serious talent to do well at Bayern). Plus it doesnt seem that he has a plethora of teams after him.

  12. The clause only applies upon relegation. The mirror are correct in that there IS a clause in his contract but its no suprise that they havent painted the full picture.

Edit: I would love to be able to tell you how I know this but it could get someone in a lot of trouble and is one of the reasons I dont post on here as much as I would like.

Stoke apparently close to shaquiri for 9m now that would be a real marquee signing for us

Thankfully it looks like he wants to join Inter.  That would have been a very annoying signing if they'd managed that.

Regarding Begovic.  Ignoring our own opinions of our keepers for a moment.  We know Sherwood has chopped and changed them so he is clearly unsure about them.  It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he was interested in bringing in arguably the best available keeper in the Premier League.

Agreed, Begovic is an improvement on both Guzan and Given.

I do like Guzan and rate him to a certain extent, but cant be sentimental as the current team finished 17th in the league last year, any position that can be improved on, then go for it.

  14. I would be happy with Richards as long as the wages are right, also I believe the injury thing is more played out than it should be, he lost his place at Man City to Zabaleta who is one of the best in the world at right back, then at Fiorentina their manager changed system and played 3 at the back I believe. (im not saying he hasnt had his injuries, just that more is made of them than it should be)

another factor for me is (I hope) he has made his money at Man City and now just wants to play football.

EDIT: just checked wikipedia and the season before Zabaleta joined City he played 29 league games - 37 appearances in total.

  15.

Didnt Suarez want to go to Arsenal after they met his buyout clause? I thought he did cant remember how Liverpool blocked the move in the end??

I think that was the point people were making. it wasn't a 'proper' buy out clause and more of an agreement which probably wasn't binding.

I think the best we can hope for is that he takes Sherwood's advice and stays for one more season. Hopefully we can then get him to agree to a new deal on more money but with a higher release clause...... Dream land right?

The BBC article above suggest that John Henry just decided not to sell, he admitted there was a £40m buyout clause but still rejected the offer from Arsenal, but as others have said, it was probably more of a gentlemans agreement and liverpool came out of the situation looking strong.

buyout clause or not... I just dont want Benteke going to Liverpool. seeing him in a black armband every other week would really get to me.

  16.

32.5m will be the starting figure.

    No it won't.

Not if it's a proper buy out clause.

You can't have a bidding war if there's a buy out clause. That's the whole point. As long as a club meets that fee then it's up to the player. Aston Villa won't have a say in the matter.

If the buy out clause is £32.5 million then that's the most we'll get for him.

    thats not the case.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26414167

Liverpool owner admitted that Suarez's buy out clause was £40m - but they sold him for about £65-£70m in the end.

EDIT: just noticed that Liverpool sold Suarez after he had signed a new contract with them - so no idea if such a clause was in his new contract.

Yep, they sold him on a new contract.

And I prefaced my post above with "if it's a proper buy out clause"

    From that article

but Liverpool insisted last summer that there was nothing in Suarez's contract obliging them to sell the player.

Which would indicate that whatever that clause was, it wasn't binding. Which is what I meant by a "proper" buy out clause.

As long as Randy/Tom Fox  or Tim Sherwood sign up to twitter after any inital bid from Liverpool and put "what are they smoking at Anfield?" then im good.
