It's like he's criticized for not being able to carry the rest of the team better. Even when he's underperforming he's still one of our best players. This reminds me a little of how the swedish press would hound zlatan in the national team.

I wouldn't say that is all true, tonight his corners and free kicks were dreadful, worse than Westwood dreadful, his passing was very sloppy and on a couple of occasions he went for unnecessary difficult passes when much easier options were available.

He has massive potential, but is having a spell where he just isn't performing in the position he fills.

    the scapegoat has been decided

Not really, he just had a shit game.

For the position he plays he should be doing a lot more than "winning free kicks"

He should be dictating games, pulling strings, but he doesn't.

That doesn't make him a scapegoat and he shouldn't be devoid of criticism if he is having a bad spell.

  3. Tuanzebe was excellent.

Hourihane was busy and passed it around well, that's about it for the positives.

Negatives, Taylor, Nyland, Hogan, El-Ghazi,  Hutton and Grealish were dreadful.

Hogan and El-Ghazi get a pass as they haven't played much at all this season, but the other 3 have no excuses, Hutton and Taylor will not fit into Dean Smith's style of play as Hutton can't pass and Taylor has to take a touch every time the ball comes near him.

As for Grealish, thanks for trying in the last 10 minutes but my word you are quickly becoming a liability, doesn't score, doesn't create, slows the play down way too much when he has the ball.

I would drop him on Friday and go with McGinn and Hourihane in the middle.

I can already see what Dean Smith is trying to do with this team. I can't wait till he can get some of his own players in

Thought he was average yesterday. If there is one bad habit he has it's that he doesn't let the ball go a tad earlier. He'll be fine though. As a unit we lack confidence at the minute. All coming from the management

He did the same thing during our poor spell last season, almost like he has been told to draw the foul.

He seemed really frustrated yesterday and personally I would have subbed him off

Lad has so much talent it's easy to see why he stays on the pitch thoigh

  5. Sensible to loan the kid out. Won't get a great deal on minutes here and his performances for us this season really showed he has missed a year of development.

Need to get him back asap if hes up for it.

We need his organisation skills as we look a total shambles.

I know tonights match is a 2nd string but im not getting too much confidence from the 2 league games weve played either.

I was against it before the season started but seeing how unorganized we are at the back we need his leadership and him being a left sided CB means Chester gets to play right CB.

Including myself. Nothing wrong with the line-up he threw out there. He gave the players a chance to prove themselves. Probably should have done something tactically at half, but wait and eventually brought on Grealish and Kodjia. This allowed us to play more attacking and retain the ball.

Yep same here. He made 9 changes, it wasn't working so made decent substitutions.

Fair play to Yeovil, they made it as difficult for us as possible.

  8. Nice comfortable win for an opening game.

Hourihane played well, Hutton played well, Grealish had a good first half then strolled the second.

Credit where it is due to Bruce, made the right changes at the right times, would have been easy to take Elmo off and switch Adomah to the right side but made the right decision.

Only negative for me was Elphick, decent finish but looked way off the pace for me

  9. Jesus some of you are mental...

If he's not in the team it's a sign.....

If he is in the team it's a sign.....

Jack could literally score a goal, grab a fans phone whilst celebrating and get a gif of Leonardo Di Caprio from the wolf of wall street  saying "I'm not f@#@%ng leaving".

Then score the winner in the last minute and as a celebration get Hutton to tattoo on his forehead "I'm not leaving"

Then in the post match interview answer every question as "I'm not leaving" and you would still be sceptical!

For the record that's 11/1 request a bet

Bruce has confirmed we are in talks with spurs.  If he doesnt play tonight we know why.

Any manager worth his salt should do that, plus the manager had the commitment and backing of those running the club, which previous managers haven't had. As much as some like to claim that he united the team, they still let promotion slip from their grasp, you would think a happy united team would be fully motivated and fully confident in their quest for promotion, but alas, it seemed , when it mattered, they were quite the opposite. So much for a united dressing room.

So a happy united team = promotion?

I wish it was as easy as that.

I agree we invested heavily and basically gambled on promotion, Bruce failed in that respect.

But he didn't cause the financial mess we were in.

If Bruce had met his objective - we would not be having this conversation at all

    Not right now we wouldn't.

But Bruce wasn't the one who nearly put us into administration. He isn't to blame for our financial difficulties

  13. 17 minutes ago, sheepyvillian said:

The reason we lost the play - offs ? We were fecking abysmal. Nothing to do with Xia, more to do with Bruce.

Agreed. We were abysmal, but to blame Bruce for the state our club is/was in is just false.

For years this club has been run into the ground by poor ownership and management.

As much as Bruce has his faults, he united our dressing room for the first time in nearly 10 years.

You would be ok - with another failed play off final ? When the reason we have faced a summer of turmoil  is because of Bruce's shortcomings ?

You can't seriously be blaming our financial difficulties on us losing the playoff final?!

Our financial problems were down to Xia being a fraud

I'm worried about Spuds getting £60m though know, they will be looking to reinvest a good chunk of that, unless it's to pay for a bit of their stadium.

I agree to a certain extent.... however the £60m is potentially coming from Man Utd and there is no way Mourinho is giving that much money to a rival in the league and a week for them to sort a replacement.

Got deadline day signing written all over it

No, he's not really noted for his tally but I think the point for some - me included - is that he perhaps should have more to his name already and should be more prolific. The reason being, he gets in so many great positions to pull the trigger without doing so I wonder why?

Is he being told not to? Is he not seeing it? I don't know but he's like an anti-Tonev, he doesn't shoot often enough and tends to do a good job with his strikes. I'd like to see him doing it more often.

Hard to score when you keep getting hacked down just outside the box.

  17. personally I don't see anything wrong with what Chester has said.

Says that he doesn't think Jack will leave now the new owners have come in and states he believes jack is that good he could play for a top prem team.

as a young 22 year old kid if my club captain was saying that about me I would be buzzing.

In the context of Bruce being our next keeper, that's the important part. 2 viable reasons made in jest.
