Im guessing because it would mean next year Newcastle, who aren't in Europe, could spend up to £466m on wages while trying to build their revenues, while we, who are in Europe, would be restricted to around £200m on wages under the UEFA rules.

Although frankly the rules are becoming so comically complex as each club tries desperately to find a system that benefits only themselves, that it's very difficult to know.

Unfortunately, we've reached the point where Premier League clubs can't really be trusted to make the rules for football in this country, we need some sort of governmental regulator.

In this scenario Newcastle would only be able to spend 85% of what they make in revenue still. ‘Squad cost control’ rules come first and the wage cap is a back stop. It only really impacts teams with massive revenues I.e it has been quoted that if it was in effect last year the cap would have been £518m so it would have only capped anyone with revenues above £740m (if in Europe).

You can;t take a bottle (with a lid on it) in anyway.

The water they sell has the lid attached so I don’t know if that’s just hearsay. See people brining flasks in the ground frequently as well. Capless or not for the money we pay we should have clean drinking stations. Especially when they are prone to selling out and not being able to supply any at all.

  3. If you can’t keep hold of your local, boy hood fan whilst on an upwards trajectory, what real chance do we have with any other player?

Martinez deserves to test himself at the highest level, and if we can’t match that there should be no hard feelings on him looking to achieve that else where. Whilst it’s understandable it comes at the detriment to us we would receive enough and more to be able to sufficiently replace him and potentially strengthen elsewhere.

Not that I want him to leave, but neither would I begrudge him if he does. He’s give is all to us, has promoted us on international duties, and I’ll continue to enjoy it all whilst it lasts.

  4. Has anyone ever actually been stopped from bringing in their own bottles ? I bring a bottle in (in plain sight) to every game and have never had an issue. Have seen others brining in packed lunches and even tea flasks. We are in an upper tier, so I wonder if it’s only those in lower tiers who would have the issues.

  5. Interestingly noted that Wes Edens net worth has jumped to circa $4 billion (per Forbes). Quite the rise considering it was only estimated at around $1 billion a year ago.

  6. Don’t believe that he should be sacked for foreseeable given the options available. However, believe we should make the necessary change when a good opportunity presents itself, regardless of how well or bad he is performing at the time.

Think he’s had enough time, has done a very good job, however has hit a ceiling.

  7. I just don’t get it personally. Good player, but a massive waste of money on someone who won’t improve the first 11, and Ollie isn’t going to play LW.

My worry would be that this is security if Tottenham come in for Ollie once Kane is sold. Big if.

Villa TV not compatible with my Chromecast. Will have to watch all matches on my laptop.

Might be an issue on your part that mate, works fine on mine.

That said I cant cast from my phone, and for the laptop im using the chrome internet browser which also has a cast option built in.

  9. If we are going off what whispers is saying then could the alternative be Hudson Odoi?

Young, English, can play on both wings, and whispers did say we were in talks with Chelsea for someone. Ticks some of the boxes, is obviously more raw than the others though.

All quiet on the new shirt front very strange considering it's the same brand and sponsor.

Maybe there is a bigger player trying to buy out the Kappa contract 🤔

I wouldn’t think too hard about it mate. We are historically s**t when it comes to brining out the kit.

Yesterday Liverpool brought on Thiago (£25m) and Mane (£34m), and left Oxlade-Chamberlain (£35m) and Naby Keita (£53m) on the bench.

Virgil van Dijk (£75m) was out injured.

We've got pretty much what we paid for so far, and attracted players of a level I would have expected for where we're at as a club.

Whether Smith is playing the right system for the players currently at his disposal is a more pertinent question for me.

Think that’s worth noting. We are exactly where we should be right now in terms of squad cost.

His stats don’t seem overly impressive for a league of that level of quality.....

I've not watched him or seen his analytics so I can’t say more than that really. If I’m signing players though I want some better goals and assists records

Bet Tottenham fans said the same about grealish in the championship.
